Just got back. I love the first half of the film, but after they meet Yamcha it's just downhill from there. It's like the screenwriters thought of a beginning, and kind of thought of an ending, and then just decided to put in 1 or 2 scenes to glue both pieces together.
The special effects are great.
The pacing, for the first 30-40 minutes is great. Then it just goes awry somewhere, and everything just gets rushed. I mean, each individual scene lasts no more then a minute, including all the fight scenes. Heck, the longest scene in the movie comes after the credits (seriously, I way like.. "When is this chick going to be finished!").
The fight choreography is horrendous, maybe worse. Shame on 87eleven for not giving it there all.
The overall faithfulness to the source material is pretty good, actually. They really didn't change all that much, and I think that is one of the problems. Certain things in Dragonball just don't translate well. Especially when you're dealing with such a rushed production.
I like the cast, sans Joon Park and Emmy Rossum. But, I though Justin, Jamie, Chow, and Randall were pretty good.
Overall, this film is kind of just "meh". It's not a complete atrocity and slap in the face like X-Men 3 was, though. It's just, well.. meh.
