I thought the ending fight in the covenant was better than this movie's lol.

Both of them suck, but at least the one in The Covenant made sense within the context of the film.

In Dragonball: Evolution it just comes across as cheap gimmicky cgi, that wants to get the film over with as soon as possible. Its almost as if James Wong and crew just said "Yeah, this isn't going to get any better" and ran with it.

At the same level as The Covenant?

it sucks because at it's core (excluding the story), Dragonball is about the epic fighting and quirky characters. It seems like the movie dropped the ball on both fronts.

No question it was never gonna be as good as the cartoon in my mind. If they had Bryan Singer or Michael Bay then maybe it be as good as Transformers but our next blockbusters is gonna be Wolverine. I am saying no one really got excited by this project and i feel the Cast did try and i still will see it. Ofcourse this film was doomed after it was going against Hanna Montana.
Too be honest it looks better written then DB i just saying hoping when see it to have an open mind.

haha if you honestly think Hannah Montana even effects DBE's money... you need to lay off the pipe.

1) 2 completely different audiences
2) the movie is a horrid bastardization of a cartoon/comic
3) general consensus, is not interested, even among fans

Just got back. I love the first half of the film, but after they meet Yamcha it's just downhill from there. It's like the screenwriters thought of a beginning, and kind of thought of an ending, and then just decided to put in 1 or 2 scenes to glue both pieces together.

The special effects are great.

The pacing, for the first 30-40 minutes is great. Then it just goes awry somewhere, and everything just gets rushed. I mean, each individual scene lasts no more then a minute, including all the fight scenes. Heck, the longest scene in the movie comes after the credits (seriously, I way like.. "When is this chick going to be finished!").

The fight choreography is horrendous, maybe worse. Shame on 87eleven for not giving it there all.

The overall faithfulness to the source material is pretty good, actually. They really didn't change all that much, and I think that is one of the problems. Certain things in Dragonball just don't translate well. Especially when you're dealing with such a rushed production.

I like the cast, sans Joon Park and Emmy Rossum. But, I though Justin, Jamie, Chow, and Randall were pretty good.

Overall, this film is kind of just "meh". It's not a complete atrocity and slap in the face like X-Men 3 was, though. It's just, well.. meh.

i would take x-men 3 over dragonball evolution

hell x-men 3 looks like citizen kane next to dragonball

The faithfulness creates so many continuity issues in the movie itself.

If Bulma was a serial murderer, who kills Goku in the first 15 minutes of the film, and Vegeta was the main character, who is in love with ChiChi, then you'll have an X3 level Dragonball. :o

Well I think XMEN 3 you can look at it was a film on it's own and like it as a non fan. I mean it did get like 55% percent on RT. Dragonball isn't as good as a stand alone movie.

How can you look at the THIRD film in a successful series as a "stand alone"?

Decent films don't usually get rotten scores on RT.

I meant as a non fan. I never read the comics, so when I watched Xmen 3 I thought it was kinda bad but not the epic fail fans thought it was. then again I didn't really like the first film that much.

Considering how unfaithful the first two films are, I'm kind of already looking at it as a non fan.. whatever that means. The first two just happen to be amazing flicks. The third film not only craps on the first two movies, but is also filled with sudden changes in characteristics, barely any development for a character that isn't Wolverine or Magneto, plot holes, cheesy lines. I could go on..

But this thread is about Dragonball.

Because the only way you're going to hate the third X-Men film is if you're a fan of the comics. People who don't read the comics pretty much liked it.

DragonBall: Evolution on the other hand is just a horrid film. I hate DragonBall with an extreme passion, but I found this worse than the source material it's based on. At least with the anime/manga DragonBall it was a love it or hate it type of thing, the film on the other hand was filled with nothing but epic suck.

But the first two X-Men films were very faithful to the spirit of the X-Men and what they stand for. And that's the most important part of an adaptation.

I never cared for the X-franchise so the 3rd movie didn't bother me one bit. If anything I was happy to get some halfway decent action scenes.

This entire quote is pretty ignorant.

No, I'm serious. People on these boards and a co-worker of mine who loved the comics when he was younger hated X-Men: The Last Stand. I'm included in this category. If you're a fan of the comics, then that means you're going to be a fan of Cyclops, Jean Grey, Professor X, Rogue, etc. And you know what? The movie takes a giant crap on them. And it doesn't portray the spirit of the X-Men properly.

However, pretty much everyone I know who don't read the X-Men comics liked this film. It was a decent action film and X-Men: The Last Stand catered to the non comic book fan market. There really is no reason for someone who doesn't read the X-Men comics to hate this film. They're the type of person who don't care about Cyclops, Rogue, or Professor X. They want to see action, Wolverine, and plenty of it and it was delivered to them.

And it's absolutely true. Most people who didn't read the X-Men comics liked X-Men: The Last Stand. Most people who do read the X-Men comics, loathe the third film.

Dragonball wasnt that bad, anyone who says its the worst thing every is either being honest and feel it was the worst(doubt it) or they just crying cause it wasnt 100 percent to the manga and couldnt let that slip there mind while watching the flick. Im leaning toward the accuracy of the film tho, people have a hard time enjoying a movie if it isnt totally faithful to there 10 year old memory. Get over it Dragonball in general wasnt that great to begin with, there was comedy and poor storylines for children but yet you argue that evolution is childish HA.

It's not the worst thing ever, Catwoman for example was worse. Batman & Robin was worse. Uwe Boll movies were worse. And from what I hear, that Street Fighter movie is worse. But it's still pretty bad.

It took some time to set in, but I think it deserves a 4/10 as opposed to the 6/10 I originally voted. It wouldn't have been difficult at all to make a better film. And we deserved one. :down

X-men 3 was enjoyable.. DBE on the other hand seems too campy/corny to me...
bad cgi, bad action scenes.. at least X-men 3 had a good climax

sorry bud, but i can no longer take your judgment on a movie again.... dragon ball made X3, Elektra, Blade Trinity, Ghostrider and even Man-Thing look like amazing films.
