The Official SDCC Coverage Thread

Fans are divided, but some people like crappy movies. It doesn't mean SR isn't a crappy Superman film. It just means that some fans like crap.

Well, you liked Daredevil. ;) But the way you put it makes it sound like you're talking about anybody else but you. You shopuld specify you're talking about yourself or people could start thinking you're throwing an uncalled arrogancy.

Everyone is pretty normal. SOme people will like anything b/c it is SUperman. SOme people like movies they know are crappy, myself included. Some folks just don't have the same experience with the character. SOme don't care whether or not it's faithful to the essence of the comics (which it's not).

Some will rule out people who like a film labeling them as “crap likers.”

The simple fact is SR was NOT a great Superman film.

The simple fact is that is not a fact but an opinion.

It was a mediocre film and a bad SUperman film. THat's it. Otherwise, there wouldn't be the unreal fan division and WB wouldn't be gridlocked on what's coming next.

So, some fans not liking it is somehow an undeniable proof of quality? I’m sorry but fans, as you say, have liked crap and ignored gold many times and therefore their taste can’t be considered a measure of a movie’s quality.

WB is in troubles only because SR had a disproportionate budget.

SR did better than Batman Begins and way better than TIH (loved by the fans mind you).

All this points to SR failing to 1. reinvigorate a dead franchise 2. connect with the GA 3. unite fans behind a new Superman film franchise.

Ther franchise would be doing well if SR had a normal budget. GA responded pretty well, watching the movie more than BB and TIH and fans can disagree all they want, that is mere proof of human nature.

I have no problem with people liking SR, but I am saddened by it. Everyone has his/her own taste. I just don't think it can be stated as being a great film or hugely successful.

Just more successful than some other films of the same genre I’ve mentioned.

It also can't be claimed to be faithful to the essence of the character for many of the reasons stated throughout all the posts from the past 2 years. Hey, you like it, great, but don't think it is faithful to the essence of the character, that's just ridiculous. Maybe that's a reason for some to like it.

It’s perfectly consistent with this franchise’s Superman as seen in STM and SII.

nice replies el payaso... i pretty much agree with what you replied back to megajoe

my only main hopes is whoever does the new film actually features a good supervillain with a well written storyline and good action scenes...

Otherwise, there wouldn't be the unreal fan division and WB wouldn't be gridlocked on what's coming next. SR clearly failed in many ways. WB is sitting on it's decision apparently b/c they aren't confident in SInger's next idea (his writers are gone, remember). All this points to SR failing to 1. reinvigorate a dead franchise 2. connect with the GA 3. unite fans behind a new Superman film franchise.

I have no problem with people liking SR, but I am saddened by it. Everyone has his/her own taste. I just don't think it can be stated as being a great film or hugely successful. THere's even less evidence that it was a 'good' SUperman film. For the first time ever MJ, i find one of your posts idiotic and insulting, its not a fact in the slightest that SR was a bad movie or even a bad Superman movie, its an opinion, NOTHING more. I think SR is a GREAT movie and a GREAT Superman movie, thats MY OPINION. Seemingly the critics and the people who voted it 'Best 2006 Movie' at the Total Film Reader's awards thought the same.

Come on MJ, your are comments are plain wrong.

agreed, AVEIT!

it's all a matter of opinion.

You, and many others, liked ( even loved ) SR, thought it was a great movie, and a great Superman movie.

I, and many others, disliked ( even hated ) SR, thought it was an ok movie, but a bad Superman movie.

However, that doesn't make either side right or wrong. Just because I disliked SR doesn't mean that I can call all the SR fans stupid for liking such a crappy movie, and vice versa.

It's called OPINION folks.......not facts!!

so, in a rare instance, I disagree somewhat with mego joe and actually agree with AVEIT ( and to a certain extent....el payaso )......:wow:

(p.s. It's me......super-bats. )

lolz!! you'll just never know who I will be next!!

but, I'm 99.999995 % sure that I'm sticking with TDK4ever.....I think.......

on the flip side, my punishment is that I must start my post count all over......lol.

Hi, there. No, it's not a fact! It's an opinion, not a fact. You're acting like it's a fact that SR wasn't a great film. Sadly, it's an opinion.

Stop acting like being an idiot. Simple.

You have no problem with people liking SR? What? What? WHAT?! Read below what you said in this thread:

Fans are divided, but some people like crappy movies. It doesn't mean SR isn't a crappy Superman film. It just means that some fans like crap.

You're really hypocrite! Think of what you said recently! So quit it.

yeah, the vast majority of the people who watches these movies have NEVER read a comicbook, or do they have to prior to watching a Superman movie?! :cwink:

Get over it, most people know that Superman is a nice guy, that he can fly and is superstrong, and that he loves Lois Lane, and that's enough for them. They just want to be entertained when they go to the movies. They don't care about details like the size of the boots or that the S on his chest isn't big enough.

This thread is about the San Diego Comic Con, at least keep it about that.

Hey Show, how are you doing? Are the new writers done with the script for the sequel yet? :yay:

Let's get back to the con.

Does anyone else here live in the San Diego area? I love this city...but it's hot as hell right now :)

Charl Huntress didn't you say you wer only going to go on 2 days out of the 4?

Yeppers! I'm going on Saturday for sure, and maybe Friday or Thursday. Thursdays usually a good day to go, but it's hard to get downtown those days. Saturday is another good day because that's when they have all the costume contests. LOL....there are some real lunatics at SDCC...LOL....I'll be there with bells on :oldrazz:

Haha! I'd go all 4 days if I could. Can't wait to hear about your time there.

No you wouldn't...believe me :woot: That's the way I thought when I first moved to San Diego. I was excited, but after the first day it loses it's luster. The vendors don't change, and unless your going for a specific panel or discussion it's not all that exciting. The movie previews are cool and all that, but it's HOT as hell in the convention center. I don't care how high the A/C...it's always hot!

If you're a fan of a particular show and want to meet the actors and get autographs...and you're willing to wait in long, long lines then it's a blast, but I go for a few mementos and to hear a few panels.

The people are the best attraction, and you kind go on the days when the freaks are out:grin:

Show, why are you being a smartass to me? I figured you might know since you're the insider here, not me.

I have no problem answering some questions once in awhile. Problem is you've asked me about the writers many a time both here and by other means. I've already said that I heard there are writers working on it. Who those writers are, I either can't talk about it or I don't know. Either way, I've answered it. :csad:

Nothing to do with me being a smartass, but I don't like the way you're trying to create some kind of "war". I've been told everything I say you go to other websites with and ask the same questions to other webmasters then come back here with them and challenge me with what others have said. I really am not interested in playing little games. I am not at war with other websites or other people.

This is a rude answer. :wow:

Not really. See above.

I just hope we get two villains. Brainiac as the main villain, and Metallo being the secondary one..

I don't think there is going to be any Superman news at this years con...or as usual if there is any news I'll be at the panel next door...listening to something else. That always happens to me...lol.

I wouldnt bet either way right now. *IF* there is going to be any sort of an annoucement about it from there, I would think we would know beforehand. Stuff leaks out you know.
