The Chronicles of Narnia? You have to be kidding me. it was a great movie but isn't the best of 2005. Serenity is good. Nay, great.

Serenity isn't the be all and end all of sci-fi genre. It's just kickass and well written...and one of the best sci-fi films out there. At least it's a break from Star Wars and Star Trek. What would this have been called? Star Thieves?

I agree. Serenity is not the end-all-be-all of sci-fi films but it is a very good film. I had heard of the show Firefly but it came on Friday nights and whos home then. I went to see the film with a friend and I loved it. Then I went out and brought the series on dvd and I have been in love since.

1-Joss Whedon is an ******* and the most evil man alive. He inflicted on us "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", the most idiotic, annoying and overrated show of all time.
He turned the innocent, nice Sarah Michelle Gellar into an annoying she-woman man-hater with the acting range of a wodden plank and all the charm of a rotting slug.

2-Even Sarah Michelle Gellar, who kisses daddy Whedon's ass and has no shame (or soul, or heart) whatsoever,refused to be in the last season of "Angel".

That tell us how crappy that season was (they flushed the series down the toilet with that one).

Im not sure where youre going with number 2. Buffy was one of the best shows that has ever been on television. One of those rare shows that doesnt make people sick to their stomach.

Serenity will be one of those really good underappreciated movies for a long time. I saw the movie and I had no idea about the show. After I saw the film I went and brought the series on dvd and I wish to God that Fox hadnt cancelled it. I would have loved to see what Joss would have done with more seasons.

she's far from kissing Whedon's ass. and thank god she refused. she had no real place in it. and it turned out to be one of the best seasons of television of the past few years.

3-I don't know if any of you fanboys know, but "Serenity" is the movie continuation of the "Firefly" series.

The same "Firefly" series that was CANCELLED, showing that not even Fox couldn't stand any more of Whedon's idiotic outings.

this coming from the same idiotic Fox that nixed some of the best shows the past few years, like Wonderfalls, John Doe and Keen Eddie, treated the best comedy on tv (Arrested Development) like s#!t, all the while keeping crap like The Swan on the air.

Fox tv has made some of the worst decisions ever regarding programming, and cancelling Firefly so early was just a drop in the ocean.

4-"Firefly" is nothing but a cheap rip-off of the GREAT series "Battlestar Galactica" (the REAL one, not that crappy Sci-Fi Channel wannabe).

I'll take Adama, Apollo, Starbuck and Athena over that stupid Mal REynolds guy any day of the week.

5-Fox didn't even bother to produce the movie, even thought they hold the rights to the "Firefly" TV series.

That tells you that they didn't want to soil their names with it. And you know a movie has to be crappy if the guys who created "X-Men: The Last Stand" and "Garfield" refuse to distribute it.

no, that tells us Fox can't recognize a good script if it bites them in the ass.

6-Thanks to Whedon's brainwash, now SMG's default mode is Buffy, as she showed us by turning "Scooby-Doo" into "Buffy the Vampire Slayer thinly veiled as a Scooby-Doo movie".

again, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Serenity and has no bearing whatsoever on wether or not it is a good movie... like almost everyone of your "facts"

Yeah it can. People who had never watched the show went to the movie and enjoyed it, and many ended up looking at the show afterward.

It is a stand alone movie.

Instead of just bashing it and saying it sucks maybe you should give reasons on why it sucks.

I was one of those people.

I had never seen the show before but was a fan of Whedon's other work. I had read some fabulous reviews of the movie (namely IGN) and decided that I would see it. I was and am still not a huge sci-fi fan. I will watch Star Wars and some other stuff, but have never really been that into it, but Serenity really surprised me. After I saw the movie a couple of times in the theaters, I went out and bought the tv series.
