He's not a play by play... but, let's just say Spidey looks like he's going to be killed. So, "this may be the end of Spider-Man." That is also the main news reporter when Harry is watching his television screens.

Umm...he does for the most part of the movie though...lol.
But, I agree with most people, the final battle will be a massive and epic battle, just because it turns out to be like four massive battles in one: Spider-Man vs. Venom/Sandman (either seperately or together), Spider-Man and New Goblin vs. Venom and Sandman, Spider-Man vs. Venom (after Sandman leaves with his family and after New Goblin dies), and then last, but not least, Spider-Man vs. the symbiote (after Eddie Brock dies).
Having just read the novel, I can honestly say I'm quite excited for this film! If the movie is even half of what the book promises, we'll be in for a real treat come may.
That being said, there are some things which bothered me as I read thru - just my opinion, of course.
- Hey! Quit Pushing The Brock!
The Eddie Brock character comes off as very forced. Personally, I would have been a fan if they had introed him in the first movie and had his character fall apart throughout, but thats just me. When reading the book, they are basically shoving Brock down your throat the whole time. Yes, he's annoying. Yes, has a thing for Gwen....Yes, he doesnt want to get fired. Yes yes yes - When he finally visits the church to ask ol' JC for some help with Peter, is almost comes off as a "Wait, what?" moment. "Damn! My luck sucks! God, can you kill off ol' Pete for me? Hey look! Alien ooze! Now I'm crazy! Roar! Kill everyone!" Not enough time, in my opinion. Then again, the action scenes with Venom were awesome so...who cares about the characterization, right?
- The Good, the Bad, and The Harry.
I REALLY like what they've done with Harry, and I seriously think he's going to steal the show in the movie. One thing though, that I thought was really not needed....Amnesia after the first 'New Goblin-Spider' fight. This just comes out of nowhere, and considering how long it lasts...why? Harry, in the novel, is at his best when he's insane and plotting against Peter - the amnesia bit just seems like an odd intermission for about 20-25 minutes before we get back to the nitty gritty. Again, just my opinion.
- Spider-Man Forever
The Venom/Sandman team up. Ugh. This scene feels straight out of Batman Forever where the two baddies who have NOTHING to do with each other simply team up because, "well...hey. You hate him, I hate him...wanna hug?" Sandman is actually given quite a bit of depth and after reading with the character for so long it really doesnt make much sense that he'd team up with Venom just to kill Spidey. Dozens of times ol' Sandy has remarked that Spidey is nothing to him, his goal is his kid. Basically, Raimi wanted a superbattle so, hey, ya can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs. Still, how annoying.
- The Death of Harry
Much like the team up above, Raimi dropped the ball on Harry's death. While his comic death was just exceptional, his movie death is nothing we havent seen in a million billion other movies dozens and dozens of times before. The old 'Buddy leaps infront of friend to take the shot/knife/(in this case) girder in the chest' routine. Yawn. Hell, in the novel you even have the cliche bit of Peter yelling out Harry's name as he does. While I would have loved to see Harry make it out of the Battle Royale with Pete, only to drop dead due to some strange effect the gas had on him, sadly, no.
All that being said - I'm still very excited. I feel this will be THE Spidey film, not to mention be the one superhero film to set the bar for all others.

Eddie Brock's character is not forced one bit. which is why his story is going to take up most of the time that he was going to be Venom. which is why he has a shorter screen time.
Harry having amnesia was a really good choice considering how much good of a story it will be once he lost his memory. so now Peter and Harry can talk and
play baskeball in harry's mansion
like they are best freind's once again which is great IMO. now Venom/Sandman team up is a good idea because it show's how much pain Brock want's Peter to feel in term'ss of beating the living hell out of him. quite frankly, Harry's death was reasonable because it prove's hat Pter's best freind really doe's care about him and really doe's want to stay best freind's which is quite sad but a good death as well.
Harry getting in the way of the killing blow is important as it proves that he forgives Pete for everything.
Venom and Sandy teaming up will take a bit of getting used to but if the BR comes off as good as it sounds then I reckon it will be worth it.
This film is going to destroy all other Superhero films, no, not just because of Venom, or the Battle Royal...but because of the narrative, the depth, the characterisation, the fact that it shows that what can happen if you let something consume you and how even those of us who throw a pumpkin bomb in anothers face they still deserve forgivness.
an impossible task , I'm sure this whole movie is gonna fell rushed , I mean , they gotta spend x amount of time on Peter and Mary Jane's relationship , they have to spend x amount of time on Peters and Harry's relationship , they have to introduce Flint Marko and how he becomes Sandman , they have to introduce the extraterrestrial symbiote and also Eddie Brock and then they have to introduce Gwen Stacy , then they have to show how Spidey goes from good guy to bad guy back to good guy , I mean the move is only like 2 1/2 hours long , that's alot of crap to try and squeeze into 2 1/2 hours , so my greatest fear is yes , this movie is probably gonna fell rush , but that's summtin I can live with without whining about it , it's not like the comics where you can pick up 7 different issues every month , this is a movie that only comes around once every three years and possibly the last one for a while , so I'd much rather have a cool movie that seems rushed , then say , no movie at all

trust me dude, it's not rushed. there is a specific amount of time for different scene's and situation's in the film for each character. 2:36 minute's or so is a long time if you ask me, so quite frankly it's enough time to fit everything in which could possibly make this film about 5, 10, or even 15 mnute's longer than the first two but I highly doubt just because there's alot of thing's in this film mean's it's going to be rushed. just take a look at other film's, they have alot more thing's in them that make it seem like the film is rushed when really it's only about 2:45 minute's long or even 3 hour's for that matter. I mean we have Eddie Brock's storyline, Harry's storyline, Peter and MJ's storyline, Sandman's storyline, etc.
but doe's that specificly mean this film will feel rushed? no it defenitley doesn't. and in the novilezation, it seem's so long because it's saying what peter is thinking which won't be in the actual film. I know people are worried about this but they shouldn't be, I mean there are two new origin's in this film to tell and a continuing storyline that has lasted 6 year's and may seem rushed just a bitr but it really isn't. the novilezation was so awesome to read and so amazing that the word "rushed" doesn't even exist when I read that. though I have seen film's that were rushed and didn't last long enough but to be honest, Sam Raimi want's his scene's to last long enough and to work out well without any "too short" what so ever.
and never I have seen a director do such a great job on a superhero film in my entire life and I mean that in a really good and honest way.
Did anyone else feel kind of sorry for Eddie Brock when he showed up at the Stacy's residence drunk? The whole situation was done well IMO, it kind of shows Eddie's downward spiral.

sort of. but Gwen dumped him already and he won't get over it so he somewhat deserve's what he get's from captain stacy although a little sympathy could be shown for him.
I dont think there will be much sympathy because his character doesnt really 'spiral' anywhere.
He's introduced as an ass, Gwen ALREADY wants nothing to do with him - the only thing that changes is he looses his job...for being an ass, essentually. His visit to Gwen? Nothing new, she's been shutting him down most of the film.
You are going to feel sorry for him, but at the same time you're not... if that makes sense.
This guy is obviously an ass hole and is introduced as an ass hole, I mean- he wanted Gwen to fall just so he can get a good picture! That should tell you something about this guy.
And then his prayer is so... disgraceful and disturbing that it makes you feel "wtf?"... I mean, he's praying and asking god why has to suffer for OTHERS' downfalls without even realizing that everything he has done he's done to himself. That scene speaks volumes for this character, it's one of my favorite all time character defining scenes because through that moment alone- you know what this whole guy is about.
I felt sorry for Brock, I still do... but as the same time I don't feel sorry for him. He's the guy you love to hate.
So it goes from feeling sorry to distrusting to hatred to fear.
That's what that scene did to me, the Eddie Brock downward spiral... it made me fear the guy because he has obviouslly become insane through what's happened to him.
