The Official Spider-Man 3 Video Game Thread with Trailer [merged 2x]

How come you I can no longer find any subway access points on free roam in the game? Do they disappear after a while or what? I'm black suited Spider-Man now and about to do the Bridezilla level.

Which version are you playing? They close in the PS2 version after the related missions are done.

Man, I'm having bad experiences with this game left and right. Bug after bug, after bug. I got past the Kingpin missions and was about to start Lizard 3 when things just started going haywire. I've officially given up on the game after restarting and running into another game-crashing bug which really bothers me because I was having a blast. Now I can't even return it for another one because I brought it from GameStop and they have some stupid policy that you can't return a game after its been opened after 7 days and I got it the day the movie came out.

Man, Treyarch needs to f'n trouble shoot their games right now. This is the first time something like this has ever happened to me with a video game. I'm so bummed right now.

**** happens, it's not Treyarch's fault, it's a risk you take when you buy a game. Some copies are just messed up from the get go.

See, I'm not the only one though, I have a friend and he literally cannot go into a subway because the damn thing keeps vanishing. He knows other people with a variety of problems. "Everyone's got their own unique glitch" is how he termed it.

The game was rushed out the door without a proper troubleshooting period. Hell, the Gamespot review mentions glitches in their con's section.

this is why i never buy games or systems right when they come out

the spidey 3 scorpion looks ridiculous.... the spidey 1 version looked much better.

Eh. They're both good but I like this more. Very much like Frankenstein. A military, kickass, Frankenstein's monster. Also dug that hook on the tail.

his design was just lame though... i felt it was very unoriginal... it looks like a designer knew nothing about the character, and was told to design "the scorpion" and was told he had a scorpion tail... and that was pretty much it. It's pretty much the first thing that would come to a non-comic fans mind.

Look, we don't care if you didn't like it...we think it kicked ass :woot:

Yeah, the only thing I'd change really is the maske when he had the armor on. Make it either more like it was in the first game, a cowl/half-helmet, or a full on face mask/hlmet. The glass thing looked kinda...ridiculous. But when he's out of the armor he's badass all around. Dug the tats too.

It could have been worse... they could have given Scorpion crab claw type pincers too. :oldrazz:

I agree with my bud, it probably sucks. :o

It sounds like it sucks at least. I've barely played this game since I bought it..I've just been too busy.

I posted this in the Spidey forum thread. But...

WEll I've now beaten it on 360 and Wii.

My opinion is they both cover the other's flaws but neither is a great game in its own right.

What 360 did better:

It looked better and had more content. Well that's not entirely true. It had about 1.5-2 hours more worth of gameplay. It had the equivalent of 3 more bosses than Wii, albeit Wii had 2 bosses not appearing in 360's, including a great Morbious fight. 360's new bosses included Kingpin, who was a pain in the ass, personally. But Scorpion was really cool to see used again.

With that said it is a beautiful game and really is NEXT-GEN with the goregous graphics. That is a huge bonus so if you buy a gam e only for looks this is the easiest choice (unless you have a PS3, which I don't). Also getting to temporarily play as New Goblin is cool and missing in Wii.

What the Wii version did better:

It was overall just more fun to play. This is the first swinging system that really brings home playing as Spidey. While I think SM2's game swinging (once you've mastered it) is the most percise and freeing to use, this one just feels more natural and while not quite as accurate, it feels more satisfying and real. Using the nunchuck and wiimote to swing is the only thing brilliant in either incarnation IMO. The other thing I really like about this version is the fighting mechanics. 360's is a boring button masher but while it is mostly copying the sword system from Twilight Princess, the fighting works and the use of dodging on spider-sense with the nunchuck feels more natural as does using both hand movements for powerful attacks. And the web-attacks are just much better, especially rodeo-ing and slamming them into the pavement.

City-scape wise it is an ugly mess though. While bigger and more accurate to size than SM2 none of the landmarks are here other than the Empire State Building and the MetLife building. And it isn't as fun to jump off them as in SM2 (same goes for 360 version there too, though). The lack of Times Square is appalling and while the character models are quite good in actuallity the environments suck. On the other hand the gangs are done much better, instead of being counted as cheap "storylines," when they are not, they are a constant threat to the city and can start wars with the police and you are constantly guaging and trying to keep gang violence levels down, which is a cool system. As is the robust RPG that isn't as complex on 360.

The boss fights are also better in that they are fun to play. But dman can they be glitchy. This game is much glitcher than the 360 version which isn't exactly the image of smooth running. And lastly on top of the swinging and fighting mechanics though, the one thing the Wii version really has over the 360 version is getting to wear the black suit whenever you want. Soon as you get it, it is there for you to switch to whenever you want. And it is fun as **** to use, but the price is if you wear it too long you go crazy and black out so you have to time it. But to take it off you have to play a minigame that gets harder each time at literally moving the wiimote and nunchuck in a ripping motion as you try and rip it off. Also an interesting system is the more you wear it the more violent and dangerous NYC gets and the clouds get grey and ominious and trash builds up in the streets. It is a great system which I WOULD HAVE LOVED TO HAVE SEEN IN NEXT-GEN GLORY ON 360 and really should have been used on that version.

With that said Wii is still a glitchy game that is ugly to look at at times and ultimately is only 10-11 hours of gameplay while I can get 12-13 out of 360. So it really is preference. Slightly more content and better graphics on 360. But Wii is actually fun to play particularly when swinging, using web attacks and the black suit combat system which weakens your RPG build up but when used is awesome (and a ***** of a minigame to get off before it kills you).

I rank them the same, 6.5, but I think I preferred the Wii version. I think both are good rentals as for purchases, you need to be a big Spidey fan, which I am.

P.S. Forgot to mention, not being able to explore the subways/sewers in SM3 on Wii was depressing other than the Lizard missions. Another point to 360, there.

There is one good thing about this game. At least Black Spidey isn't emo in the game.

You know, besides his hair, there was nothing Emo about Peter when he put the Black Costume on.

That's true. Emos don't go raging across the street. Parker was more emo in the first two games than in this one. I still dig the emo shag though.

the wii doesn't have kingpin? scorpion i can do with out, and love the dark NYC... thats awsome and how accurate it is that the more you wear the black costume, the harder it is to take it off

No. The Wii version has Lizard, MechaLizard (in a much cooler boss fight than the 360 version), Kraven, the MadBomber, two boss fights with Morbious, two boss fights with Shriek, New Goblin, two boss fights with Sandman, Giant Sandman and two boss fights with Venom.

360 has all of those but the two boss fights with Morbious and the two with Shriek but has in their place Kingpin, Scorpion and one other I'm forgetting at the moment.

Yeah neither are really great games and overall I think 360 is a deeper package with more to do and easier on the eyes but the Wii version is more fun to play and has a much better swinging system (the best one I've seen yet, in fact) and fighting mechanics. And I am a fan of wearing the black suit whenever you want but it can hurt your health in the long run, stunts your ability to buy upgrades and causes the city to get more moody, darker and violent as well as a ***** of a minigame to get the suit off.
