Comics The Official Storm vs Jean thread

Whenever did Endsong say it was the same Jean as HCT? She just donned the White outfit but it did not say a thing about being the same.

Haha, yeah, seriously. The past two pages have been the most rediculous debate I've ever read. No one is ever going to prove the other one right on this 15one0326q4fz vs 61p96 thing...

ROFL! Thought I was the only one...

As far as I can recall, Jean explicitly refers to the whole "Live, Scott" thing.

Anyway, it is quite irrelevant if she is or isn't the same as 15104, because, in the end, what did Jean 15104 did? Merely sent a telepathic nudge through time. She couldn't have destroyed the future (which is proved by the fact that it has a "reality number"), she merely created an alternate timeline, by altering her past with that nudge. A telepathic nudge through the timestream is not that big a deal, and it doesn't mean she can actually travel through time. WE've seen telepaths cross the barrier of time with their astral selfs more than once in the past.

Let's get into a somewhat more solid information. In all the years since these two characters met there were 3 battles, some could argue 5 but since the Phoenix Force impersonating someone doesn't count (how can anyone think that an impersonator is the same as the original... how naive some people are)...

Let's examine those battles:

Uncanny 270: Ororo, in a teenage body, with limited access to her powers kicked Jean's booty.

Wolverine 113: Both in full control of their powers, Ororo easily pinned her to the wall, which means she could just as easily destroyed her utterly.

Uncanny 385: Jean jumped towards Ororo, yet Ororo was able to hold her in a mini-hurricane, preventing her from concentrating, thus defeating her once more.

There haven't been any more fights. The evidence shows us Ororo has, and will most certainly again, defeated Phoenix in more than one occassion.

Did I put Storm on that list...uh no.

Yes, I was a Storm fan, but I know her limits. Hell, I am one of those people who doesn't want her to be an Omega, even though she meets the qualifications.

Becoming all powerful just destroys a characters chances at development. Case in point take a long hard look at Jean. For the last 25+ years she hasn't done anything besides lather rinse repeat Phoenix, be a birthing machine for AU kids, and be in love triangles.

Don't believe me. Think real long hard about Scott/Jean/Angel, Xavier/Jean/Scott, Scott/Jean/Logan, and finally Emma/Scott/Jean. I'm surprised the mansion hasn't come down with a bad case of VD.
heh 35 posts before i read one i can agree with.
Bottom line in Storms case,.. she pulls from the available power,...

Put her in galactic center,.. she could whoop PHOENIX

Sorry guys:
But on earth she is limited by materials and how much collateral damage she would cause.

You have never had it written where she completly cuts loose,.. ever.

This thread is a non-event because canon has laid out all the parameters,..

Storm beats Jean Grey on Earth.

Jean Grey of and by herself is a strong Telekinetic and telepath,... but she doesn't have the legs to lift the blackbird.

Storm can and has tossed 747's around,... and has been proven proof against telepathic attack from everyone under xaivier.

Jean grey beats Storm as the Phoenix ON EARTH.

DUH.

I think obviously with the Phoenix force Ohoenix will obliterate Storm, but if they were left un-aided by any exterior force Storm would beat Jean...

1- not even Jean Grey could withstand a high voltage shock or any other weather phenomena Storm could come up with; the earth is her playground
2- If Jean tried to play on Storm's claustrophobia it would only hinder her as Storm would loose control and bolts would be everywhere

a) it was the Phoenix Force, not Phoenix
b) we didn't see Ororo laying on the ground dead did we? we merely saw her backflip, we know not if she recovered instantly in mid-air or if she fell to the ground (my theory is the former )

And since there is no Official Jean Grey thread (shame on the so-called Phoenix Fans) here is a little pic I found somewhere that I think it's too cute to be true.

Cute pic.

Still think Storm - hell, ANY MUTANT - has no business taking down the PF, though.

Meh, make that get a decent shot at it.

I didn't say Phoenix Force, I said Jean, and even jean controlling the Phoenix Force is not the Phoenix Force alone.

Ok, can anyone please explain to me what is the difference betwene phoenix and phoenix force??

The "phoenix" is a being basically either duplicated in toto,.. or a person taken over completly by the "force of nature" known was the phoenix.

The primary charateristic of the phoenix force is it's need to "ramp up" to an appropiate power level to do stuff.

It also is a power USER,.. not a power Generator or manipulator.
Interstellar travel for example requires it "to eat" a star to continue to do so.

The Phoenix force is power imdued to an object or person that gives the item or person a quantum leap in power or ability. Usually it is a SMALL portion of the total power of the phoenix,.. enough to whoop most beings under say Storms level of energy manipulation.

Storm is AN ENERGY MANIPULATOR in the vein of "weather effects".

She has harnessed enough energy from STARS to destroy a FTL vessel as A SIDE EFFECT to manifesting that energy as a way to cure herself from a serious infection.

She is UNDERWRITTEN based purely on the feats that they have written on her to date.

"I don't give a rat's Azz Storm" could fly to any planet in this solar system. Her powers as currently stated allow for it. JEAN sans Phoenix cannot.

Harnessing the power of the sun,...(something she has only done once,.. and only as far as manipulating the "solar wind") I truly believe she could destroy any planet in the solar system,.. again in the "I don't give a crap" mode.

Fortunatly for the Marvel Universe,.. for some reason she sets limits on herself.
.

^Who are you quoting apposed to the " i dont give a rats azz" line?

^Who are you quoting apposed to the " i dont give a rats azz" line?

?
If I understand the question,... Everything I've listed are feats she has done since she was created.

"I don't give a ratz azz" is the power level pointed at if she truly didn't worry about the effects of her powers in use,...

EVERYTHING in her history limits her power levels as A CONTROL ISSUE,.. Not a MAXIMUM POWER OUTPUT. If she decided to suddenly leave earth,... she could do it - and (my opinion) it would rip a strip off our atmospere, it would probably start the next ice age. based on what happened in the core and back when "phoenix was born" She can manipulate the output of our star,...

Folk give her no credit because outside of the X-books,.. all she does is fly and sling lightning.

^Oh okay. My bad...it's been a long day :p Theirs one issue of Uncanny (somewhere in the Storm thread) where it says something about a rage inside her that would consume her utterly. hen we got issues like X-treme X-men 39 where she states that she has the awful strenght of a storm. She could cause damage and care NOTHING for the consequences. If she started to kill, she wouldn't stop. Then theirs others (not as important though) like Uncanny X-men Annual #10 where she casts lightning bolts down that were bright enough to light the entire Manhatten city. She doesn't go around using her powers for dumb **** thats why we never see her "letting loose".

She can manipulate the output of our star,...

And then people ask with a straight face - no less - why I think her powers sickly overpowered???

Too f****n funny. :D

What the hell's wrong with JUST flying, summoning hurricanes and frying people???

Why is she "overpowered" When Binary was not?

I guess I'm saying I know of something like 20 people who are way overpowered by my standards that folk don't say didly about.

I think it's overpowered to be able to heal all illness and bring forth life on dead planets like the Silver Surfer can,...

I think Thanos was way overpowered as a Titan.

And Phoenix???? geez marie.

Oh, I don't like Jean and am somewhat repulsed by the sheer concept of an Omega mutant. And yeah, Silver is sickly overpowerd. As are other mutants/superheroes.

It's just that Storm fanatics are just really vocal about it.

That and I'm just pissed off they'll defend Claremont and that whole 'SHE CAN FIGHT OFF TELEPATHS - HER WILLPOWER ROXXOR IS THE BESTEST WOOOHOOO!!!!!' to the death.

Just, wtf?

She never needed it to be a cool character. That was just arbitrary overkill.

 It's like your basically saying you don't like who she is. Storm as A PERSON gained that ability. That has nothing to do with her mutant talents. Hell, if you bothered to read some back issues of her you'd see why she has it. It's not like she's immune. She still has weaknesses, which I'm totally glad for. Whats so wrong with indomittable will?

I think you're missing the point.

Why HER willpower should be any THAT MUCH stronger? There shouldn't even be such a thing against the strongest of telepaths.

Ororo has fended the combined telepathic might of Xavier, Psylocke and Oracle (the foremos psychic of the ENTIRE Shi'ar EMPIRE). There is absolutely no human/mutant/whatever without psychic powers that is more telepathy-resistant than her. Period. You can like it or dislike it, but it's FACT.

Varient... you just became one of my favorite posters here :D
