I was just going on some flash back issues (around `97) when I came across a storyline where Wally made a deal with the devil to save his girlfriend and his town from certain destruction and to do so he had to sell him his love for his GF. Seems familiar to another storyline by another company about a decade later, doesnt it?

Although the story was far more interesting, was wrapped up fairly quickly (within a few issues) and had the ramifications of bringing back some of the old very cool villains back from the dead as well.

My question is this: If Joe Quesada was going to copy a story like that, why couldnt he have actually made it worthwhile and not stupid beyond belief?

OK, now I'm curious...did they also steal the "undoing of Spider-Man's unmasking" from Flash, since Flash had also publicly revealed his secret id at one point?

Maybe, I think that Flash also had a deus ex machina throw his secret ID back under the covers as well.

Maybe this means Spider-man will be getting MUCH better in the next few years. Hopefully just not as much time travel

I think he somehow made a deal with the Spectre to undo his identity being public. Of course, it's doubtful he really directly stole it or anything. Faustian bargains have been around a little longer than the Flash.

Of course we're not stating that the idea of selling anything to the devil or any other figure of evil, was stolen from anyone else. All I was originally pointing out was the fact that the same story was done near identical in SM and Flash and yet both were very different in fan reactions, general interest and resolution. I just thought it was quite funny that two very similar storylines have such wildly different resolutions and general response in how it affected the characters involved.

If I'm not making much sense, it's 4am and I'm having trouble sleeping alot

I haven't read the Flash story yet, but my understanding is that Flash's secret ID reset was the main focus of that story, while in the Spidey story the secret ID thing was only part of the reset, and not even the main part. The main part was erasing/modifying/undoing Peter and MJ's marriage, and that was the main cause of the violent reaction among so many fans. Restoring Peter's identity was a side benefit, just like Harry Osborn returning to life (I believe they considered bringing back Gwen Stacy as part of the new status quo but decided against it. Make of that what you will.)

Also, DC tends to drastically change the status quo of it's characters through cosmic means every few decades anyway, so most Flash fans were kinda meh about it.

Pretty high up. Mjolnir barely gets used as anything other than a hammer than can summon lightning these days. But Thor used to use it for all kinds of things. Like matter and energy manipulation. Or to open dimensional portrals.

Most powerful weapon in the Marvel Universe is probably the Infinity Gauntlet.

The Gauntlet is so much more than a weapon. I'd say the Ultimate Nullifier is the most power weapon.

Flash didn't make a deal with the Spectre to get his secret ID back. it was just something that Hal did as the Spectre out of his friendship to Wallly and Barry. which I think is the major difference between the two. Peter actually had to give something up to gain his secret back. and yeah, like DawnWarrior said, it was ONLY the Flash's identity that was forgotten by everybody (the Flash included). which made for a pretty kick-ass story, IMO.

I dont believe there was any particular reason. Stan probably just felt like making the hulk leave to make room for Cap. I could be wrong of course,but i dont think there's any backstory behind the decision.
