I remember being annoyed at the lack of an explanation for their powers. They can't be mutants because they weren't part of the 198. Aside from a few villainous masterminds who hid themselves and undetectable mutants like Cipher, the US government rounded up every known mutant after M-Day and shoved them into a shanty town on Professor X's lawn. That's not part of any of the origins of the kids in Avengers Academy.

The government rounded up most, not all. It certainly possible that several were unaccounted for. 198 was never an exact number. The number of mutants remaining post M-day hovered "around 200" I thought that gave them just enough leeway depending on what story they wanted to tell.

So, I got these three posters... I know the guy in the middle is Hawkman.... but I dont know who the outer two are, the one guy looks like dr. Doom... but w/o the mask.. and I have no idea who the other dude is.... anyone know?

Apparently he's a psychiatrist. Writers love to shove actual doctorates into the origins of superheroes with "doctor" in their name. Dr. Strange and Dr. Mid-Nite are both surgeons.

Didnt the crystal transport his body to a different location and replace it with an Android/Alien Darkhawk body when he transformed from Powell to D-hawk? So essentially his body was safe and sound somewhere in space when he was darkhawk?

I forgot how this worked or if it is still in effect
