He's staying in hiding. Semi-retired. He's still keeping in touch with Bucky taking care of old Winter Soldier/S.H.I.E.L.D. business.

I wish he would come back. I could care less about the new Fury. Or Coulson for that matter. Yeah, he was great in the movie and will probably be awesome on the show but there's so many other SHIELD or Avenger support staff they can focus on that we haven't seen in years.

I don't mind it at all. I miss White Fury sometimes, but the new SHIELD is slowly shaping up to resume the interesting ally/antagonist role of the original by replacing all of the chummy known characters with harder-edged, no-nonsense types like Maria, Black Fury, and Coulson (who's a nice guy on the surface, but whose only loyalty seems to be to Fury). That's a cool, novel approach to breathing some new life into SHIELD, and I'm all for that.

What are some good trades focusing on the Black Widow?

Any trades from the current Winter Soldier series. She's been a main character in that. There was also the solo series from a couple of years ago that led into the Widowmaker crossover with Hawkeye and Mockingbird. I enjoyed all of those series. Perhaps they've been collected in TPB form.

I've managed to not really read anything with Black Nick Fury or Coulson in it. I've read Maria but she's not exactly new being that she's been around for about 10 years.

Frankly, designing SHIELD around the movie (the three listed above) is a little annoying, but I guess if it leads to good on-panel stories, then so be it. I just wish they'd get Nick active somewhere. I mean, lord... give the man a solo. He carried Secret Warriors for quite a while and it was a fantastic read.

Agreed 100%. As much as I love the MCU, sometimes I think that hollywood was the worst thing to ever happen to comics.

So what is Quicksilver's top speed? Did he ever have any interesting minis?

I want to say it was 200mph but I could be wrong. He's no Flash.

As for minis, I enjoyed the Son of M mini that came out right after House of M.

That's the only one I can think of off the top of my head. I know he had an ongoing back in the late 90s/early 00s that lasted around 12 issues. I've never read it, though, so I can't say whether it was good or not.

If I recall correctly, he was at least the speed of sound. I was just wondering if he ever received an upgrade. I'll take a look for that series

He got one when he mysteriously got his powers back in that PAD one shot a few years ago. He's faster, but you know, he's no Flash. Somewhere above the Speed of Sound.

fact is, he doesn't have a kinetic energy shield that will keep him from ripping himself apart if he moved at extremely high Speeds, which is why he's no Flash.

Followed up by Slott's run on Mighty Avengers where he excused his causing a war between the Inhumans and the United States by blaming it on a Skrull.....even though it was totally him.

Thanks. I always liked him as a character. He's no Flash but who is? I liked when he accessed the speed force in the JLA/Avengers crossover.

Honestly, that was just a good time period for Pietro. From Son of M to X-Factor to the one shot to Slott's Mighty Avengers.

Oh yeah, I remember that from the Contest of Marvel days (a game we used to play around here... and I miss dearly). That was one of the plots in the ongoing Quicksilver series I mentioned earlier.
