The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 4

Is there anyone who can provide or point me to a German transcript of the Argentina tavern scene in X-Men: First Class? Not an English translation, mind you, but the actual spoken German dialogue.

So, was Iron Monger in the comics after his death in Iron Man #200, or did he stay dead?

I believe there were multiple Iron Mongers later, but it wasn't Obadiah Stane anymore, he had a son though.

Besides the Red Skull, was there any other noteworthy Marvel villain in the golden age?

Hey, if Rogue and Red Hulk touch each other, who absorbs who's powers?

She'd probably absorb his powers. He can leech out radiation and cosmic rays, but can't absorb entire power sets unrelated to radiation.

Baron Zemo, Baron Von Strucker, Fin Fang Foom....
Nope, all of those characters were created during the 60s. They may have been involved during the 30s and 40s inside the Marvel Universe, but they are strictly Silver age characters because they were created during that time.

Could Iceman rule the frost giants if he went full out? Or even take them down? He's supposed to be Omega class potential dealing with cold.

When Bobby was in X-Factor Loki kidnapped him to empower the Frost Giants. From that storyline all Iceman basically did was power up the Frost Giants at the cost of driving them mad. They never showed him controlling any Frost Giants, which would have been useful to turn the tables on Loki. This was (wow!) 25 years ago and Bobby has grown in power since then. It could go either way that maybe he could exert some control over them now or they would continue to see him as a tool to grow even more powerful than before.

Has anyone read the Venom run since he's been in Philly? I was thinking about picking it up. Based on the previews I've read so far, I'm on the fence.

So, I heard somewhere that every 4 years in real time is 1 year in the MU, is that true?

It's a decent estimation, but nothing about time is dependable in comic.

It was better than the start of Bunn's run.

Marvel has a policy called a floating/sliding timescale. It's not exactly 4 to 1 but you kind of have the right idea.

Great, thanks!

Another Question... I've been wondering about this for a while, but is Civil War even canon any more? Because in One More Day, they erase Spider-Man's secret identity from public knowledge, and since this occurred near the start of Civil War, did that change at all, or is it still canon in all parts?

No, it still occurred. There was a storyline in ASM called One Moment In Time (OMIT) that explains how things were changed by Mephisto. Basically, Dr. Strange, Tony Stark and Reed Richards all get together and Strange does a spell bubble where anyone inside of it would remember. Peter was going to go in there by himself but at the last minute pulled an unconscious MJ in. She was pissed at him when she woke up and found out and it led to their breakup.

Wow I own and read OMIT and I completely forgot all that happened. All I remembered was Peter missing his wedding because of a thief and feeling that they should've left this entire Mephisto debacle behind because I was finally forgetting about OMD and enjoying Spiderman again.

It's variable for all characters individually as we have some people like Aunt May who seems to have gotten younger over the years and then we have Franklin Richards (of the FF) who has aged maybe 2-3 years when Power Pack who was around his age in the 80's are grown up now. It gets weird when you read the back issues and wonder what the hell happened. :p

They really just need to come out with a story that reveals Franklin can't age beyond a certain point (like Webster). Then that will no longer be an issue.
