X-Factor 1-70. Thats a controversial pick bc Scott gets criticized for leaving his wife and kid to start this team up but the series was great. The first 5 issues werent that good and were written by someone that got canned quickly. One Louise Simonson takes over in issue 6, she starts to lay the seeds for what will be an amazing run and truly understood Scott. She salvaged him and made a messed up situation work.

From the Ashes. This is collected in a TPB and is Uncanny X-men 168-176. It is about Scott's first meeting with Madelyne and thinking she may be Dark Phoenix reincarnated.

Speaking of which, The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of his definitive stories, especially if you love he and Jean

More recently, Uncanny X-men v3 is a good read. Kieron Gillen is my favorite modern day Scott writer. The book isnt Scott centric, but he is the lead character and an effective leader

I think the book was overrated but I'll also mention Astonishing X-men v3 bc that tends to be a popular pick with people

I'll agree with that. I'd also say read the first five issues with an open mind. Simonson's stuff is much better, but you need the setup. Some of the setup with Maddy and Scott leaving the X-Men are helpful as well (it's good to show that Scott leaving Maddy and his kid wasn't entirely due to Jean).

Uncanny X-Men #175 is a great example of Scott being a badass, so I'd recommend that too.

Here's a stupid question...

Since Marvel's whole shtick was always that they take place in the "real world" (unlike DC), does this mean Captain America's now the worst superhero in all of comics?

It means that for the past two years, he watched the first European-styled Fascist rise to power in America and did nothing about it. And besides a few mentions of Trump at best, he'll continue to do nothing.

This isn't like the MCU where there were different presidents. The comics are pretty consistent with who gets elected in real life.

No, because it's not Captain America's job to interfere with the democratic process. He's a superhero who does superhero things. He shouldn't be judged by the political actors. Steve Rogers has also, in the past, become disillusioned with democracy and abandoned the title of Captain America for that reason - particularly after President Nixon was elected.

yeah worst superhero is a bit extreme. There are superheroes that actively kill and are very immoral. There are some that are complete failures that never seem to do much right no matter how hard they true. And there are some that are superheroes for purely selfish reasons that need to get something out of it in order to act heroically. Captain America is neither

Marvel won't do it because they can't affect our universe, at a minimum, so it makes no sense.

Captain America also kind of takes the role of the Queen. He's supposed to embody our nation, not campaign for a candidate.

Marvel wont do it bc thats not an interesting story to tell. How do you go from battling the Red Skull, Kang and Doom to rallying against a fictional Trump? Trump is an egotistic person that rubs people the wrong way but he isnt some Hitler level dictator. He hasnt done anything and so far has all been talk. Maybe things may change in a few years, but he's not a supervillian that Captain America needs to be taking on within the pages of Marvel comics

So I was thinking about getting some good comics for my (turning) 10 year old nephew for his birthday/xmas.

I was looking to get him some of the really good books but nothing too mature or too insane so Hellblazer is out.

I was thinking something like Starman (90's series), Whatever happened to the Caped Crusader/Man of Tomorrow? and one or two more fun ones.

Any ideas?

Would anyone here be able to tell me what comic issues, or volumes, Spider-Man had organic webbing, start to finish? I was never able to determine with certainty. Being a fan of organic webs, I'd like to get the issues they were featured in.

I don't know the exact issue numbers but I know it started in the Disassembled arc of... I think it was Spectacular Spider-Man. That would have coincided with the later portion of Straczynski's Amazing Spider-Man run round abouts (I'm guessing) Skin Deep or Sins Past. Then it was undone with One More Day. So I guess anything that involved Disassembled, Civil War, Back in Black, and OMD and whatever other things happened between all those.

Just how strong was Rune Thor compared to other heavy hitters in the Marvel Universe? And is Rune Thor the strongest iteration of Thor?

Not so much stronger as way, way more powerful. Basically, Rune Thor is like putting Thor and Odin together. He is, I believe, the most powerful version of Thor ever (at least as far as I can recall), and he could pretty much mop the floor with just about anyone shy of cosmic powerhouses. Even then, regular Thor has managed to eke out an occasional win against Galactus and Ego.

What's Colossus current strength level? And what's the strength difference between his normal and organic steel forms?

Pretty sure he's just a normal person in his non-steel form. So he'd be as strong as a normal dude who's in exceptionally good shape.
