Somebody needs to add in some heatvision to the raging Joe pic up there.

Ouch. Definitely some truth there though. Can anyone here actually see Clark Kent in Joe? Be honest.

If joe gets the role I'm sure they'll make him up so he doesn't look quite so tanned. Also the one gripe (minor for me) about his nose being a little prominent, if they Keep the shine off the bridge of his nose it'll look a lot better. However he has an overall rugged look and there is no doubt chicks swoon over him, (and likely a few guys) so I'm totally up for a more " Don't F*$k! with me or I'll rip your head off " Supes.

Not in those pictures (not only are they clearly going for "intimidating," but as I pointed out, they're also old - from back when he was beefier), but I see plenty of Clark Kent in Alcide. Not goofy, campy Clark (which I don't want to see anyway), but the good ol' farm boy Clark.

I totally agree

My guess is that since he is big and tall his agents have always tried to sell him as big and mean, but in Alcide I really see a "comic book" Clark

I have to admit that I Joe M. looks better with longer hair.

Honestly, I would rather they keep his hair longer then give him the reeve hair. Interesting that he seems like he's trying not to say anything in interviews now, makes me think he may actually have a shot. I think him and Hammer have a pretty good chance at this point and probably shows the 2 age groups they might be shooting for. I'm sure we'll be hearing something soon if they are filming end of august. I'm just curious if they'll hold out until succer punch comes out or not.

If Joe M gets the job, I would be happy. But I don't know how in the hell he is going to pull off Clark Kent. If he gets cast, we would see a very different type of Clark Kent on the big screen, which wouldn't be such a bad thing either.

How about they just ask him to keep out of the sun or tanning booth for a bit? :cwink:

Still want it to be Welling, but I just wish they would cast someone already.

Well if the movie has scenes of Clark roughing it and travelling the World (as is rumored) before he decides to become Superman, they can have scruffy bearded Joe for those parts of the story rather than bumbling clean cut Clark. Hopefully we'll have a new take on both Clark and Superman.

Joe has that type of stature and face that doesnt scream, "bumbling nerd!". I think if they write Clark that way then it might not come off as well. I might be wrong though and Joe could play a nerd convincingly, but Id rather they not go that route and rather base Clark Kent off of STAS.

I'd be very happy if Joe got the role. He's totally different from the Christopher Reeve / Brandon Routh incarnations, but he still has all the qualities needed for Superman. Would definitely be a 'fresh take' on the franchise in terms of the leading character.

I can't see them going down the nerdy-bumbling-Clark route, I think this Clark will be written more normal, a bit like in the Birthright comic series. Just a normal young guy, asides from his powers of course.

Here's some pics from his MySpace page, a bit different to the usual Google Images results.

Wouldn't be pleased it Joe was cast as he's certainly not a favorite of mine in any way, but I'd choose him over the likes of Routh and Hammer in a frikkin heartbeat. If he's cast I'll accept it and move on, just make a God damn announcement already.

I'm hoping we hear something this week.

You hear anything, or are you just being optimistic?

Yeah, why this week?

Wouldn't mind Manganiello. Haven't seen enough of him.

He certainly has the build and some of the facial characteristics, I would like to hear of the other contenders though.

Hammer, Cavill, Joe M. All work afaik. They have some good choices. I'm leaning slightly towards Hammer, but I'd take Joe even though he is a little more of an unconventional choice. Hammers features are a little softer and might make for a more friendly looking Superman, whereas Joe would be a more ass kicking version.
