My thoughts precisely. I hate to be so shallow in this regard, but Superman's look is too important to me.

I will say that Joe has a great 'type' of appearance. He's strongly built and looks like a very powerful young man. But that's about as far as I can support him right now.

So out of curiosity, how many people here would want Joe as Superman if he had a different nose? I dont want to sound shallow, but he does look better in that manip presented earlier. But i dont think thats needed, if he were to get cast im sure with a proper haircut it wouldnt be so noticeable. Another thing is the fact he is really tan, and he needs to be for the show he's on True Blood, if his skin tone was lighter that also would help with the nose issue. I think he's decent for the role, and if they chose him they probably wouldve seen something special. I really just want this role cast already, whether it be Joe, or my personal pick Cavill, just get it going already i swear its taking far too long.

Or the meathead look and vibe he has in general. He's not even one of the better actors out of the rumored names that have been mentioned.

Only to the shallowness of certain posters.

Hollywood is a shallow business my friend. i judge each actor fairly. Joe's nose is a problem the same way Armie's jawline is a problem the same way Hamm's age is a problem the same way Conway's filmography is a problem. at least i'm not being illogical and saying stuff like Armie's acting is a problem or Joe's body isn't good enough or Conway's resume is too strong. Superman is probably my favorite superhero and i demand nothing but PERFECTION! that's why i keep pointing out Joe's nose...because he seems perfect other than that one thing! this logic is the same reason why i root for Conway, because his look is damn near PERFECT for Superman!

if he had a nose like the comparison i posted then i would get behind him. i'd still want Conway for Superman, but Joe would be a very close 2nd. as it stands, Joe is probably a very distant 3rd on my list (Armie being a distant 2nd).

personally, i hope they take all the time that is needed to pick the role. it seems they're already rushing it because of the legal problems involved and i've seen horrible things happen with a production is rushed too much (see Dragonball: Evolution). if they need until April or May to pick the ideal Superman then so be it. the world won't end if the next Superman isn't announced by the end of March.

The one on the left looks more like Birthright Supes. Just sayin. :woot:
i hold in my hand the graphic novel....aaaaaand nah, the one on the right looks more like Birthright Supes. granted, Yu's drawings weren't 100% consistent and in certain profile shots Supes/Clark had a hooked nose, for approximately 95% of the time he had a straight, proportioned nose.

I'm going through it on my computer screen right now, and I disagree. Joe's nose looks different from different angles as well. :oldrazz:

All I can say is casting Joe M will turn Superman into an episode of Jersey Shore, and no thanks
Somebody's afraid Superman's gonna do the guido fist pump.

true..his nose DOES look different from various angles, but the majority of the time it looks hooked. i still maintain that 95% of the time, the manipped image of Joe on the right looks more like Birthright Supes than the unmanipped image on the left.......but even if it weren't so, this isn't a strict adaptation of Birthright. Christian Bale looked nothing like Year One Bruce Wayne.

But they're both hot. :oldrazz:

Somewhere between both of those noses would be the ideal one imo. The revised one is too small not quite rugged or manly enough. I still like Joe though and Hammer. Right now those are the two guys I think would be the best choices.
A nose job takes between 4-6 months to fully heal. It can take as much as a year. So forget the nose job lol. If he is picked careful camera angles and makeup will have to suffice.

After seeing Matt Bomer in White Collar tonight, he looked perfect for Superman, particularly in the flashback scene.

Can someone explain the nose thing?

Is it crooked or what?

Umm...the people that are complaining about Joe's nose do know that it is not a difficult thing to fix if that was the only stumbling block...right? It's much easier to alter a nose than it is a chin and jawline. :cwink:

I'm pretty sure that's a racist remark.

Discriminatory...possibly. Racist....nope. Racism is only one type of discrimination and it is based on race. Being from Jersey isn't a racial thing.

That's true, which is why I don't care if the actor chosen looks like a drawing of Superman. I was just responding to the nose complaints because that's what I thought they were all about, and was therefore pointing out that he DOES look like drawings of Superman.

And I still haven't found an image from Birthright that has that tiny nose you put on Joe. They all look more like Joe's real nose to me, so I don't think we'll ever agree on that point.

It looks too "hooked" for some people's liking. I think it complements his face and looks more like the Birthright Superman. But that's me.
