With all this talk of Joe having the wrong nose, or being too tan, I wonder how long it'll be before someone just comes right out and says "he doesn't look white enough" :p

Anyhoo, I'm not dead-set on anyone at this point. I've seen a bit of Joe, since my girlfriend loves True Blood, and he's been on HIMYM. I wouldn't object to him being cast.

I'm not at all familiar with guys like Armie Hammer and some of the others being named, although I do like Armie's look from the pics and manips I've seen, so if his acting holds up and he bulks up a bit, I wouldn't be disappointed there either.

hmmmm......if Joe M. is indeed cast as Supes..........that's gonna change the way I view Spider-man 1 now that I've learned he played the bully Flash.........lol.

btw.........don't watch True Blood.......but is Joe M. a good guy on that show?

All they're doing is repeating the interview he did a few days ago, there's no news here just a rumor.

Hmm, not a news ok, a rumor ok but from a solid source, who said this too

The Ministry hassled its fanboy brother Hero Complex for details, as Hero tweeted Tuesday that the actor was high on a list of potentials to play the Man of Steel.

Here's what we know: At last week's Academy Bake Off, a celebration of visual effects in film, talk around the room (especially from the team working on the new "Superman") said Manganiello kept popping up in serious talks about a new face for the franchise.

Yeah, I always forget that he was Flash Thompson in SM1...then again, I may have just blocked out every highschool scene from that movie. :cwink:

And yeah, he plays a good guy on True Blood, a werewolf, one of the few that isn't a complete a-hole. Then again, it seems like a recurring theme on that show is that nobody is as innocent as they seem, so who knows?

Whatever it is I think I see becomes Manganiello's nose to me...

I like him..cast him already and lets get things moving.

Yup.. Doubtful, but maybe, they already chose their entire cast. It could be a blast to discover it at once :)

Or a let down depending who they cast, and who you like :o :D

Can you imagine the excitement/rage overload we'd see if the whole cast was announced at once? I'm pretty sure some people would legitimately wet themselves uncontrollably.

People keep saying they cant see Joe as Clark, which I get. Acting wise though his Clark would be fine, provided they dont go with the bumbling Clark which I dont think they will. He's good at the quiet moments and acting natural, it's when he has to be intense or act during action scenes that he fails miserably and cant pull it off IMO. Maybe Snyder can get a believable performance out of him...still underwhelmed by the prospect though.

I wouldn't mind seeing bumbling Clark again, he'd be good comic relief to an otherwise serious movie. Something Returns lacked.

Wow...couldn't disagree with you more. I think he is just as strong at being intense, if not more so. To each their own.

I definitely don't want to see a bumbling Clark again. I think if they cast someone with charisma we don't need to worry about a repeat of SR's Clark Kent.

I think Joe is too old for this kind of story they are trying to tell.. My bet is on Armie Hammer...

I purposely tried to find photos which were different to the usual Google Images contenders where he has a beard, or is in a pose of some shot just for the camera. People complain that Joe looks too thuggish or intimidating - he's 6"5, built like a tank with a strong neck and jawline - of course he's going to look intimidating in certain shots. That's exactly why I want him for the role, as much as I liked Routh I had no sense of the power that he was meant to be controlling as Superman. I want to see a Superman in this film with some fight in him, and hopefully some action ..... an 'angry God', like they promised .......... Joe can be one scary looking big mofo when he's angry.

The ones on his Myspace page are pretty good as they show him usually with no beard and in a more relaxed state with fans, and in these I get no sense of this 'thuggishness' which people talk about. He looks a totally warm, happy, smiley guy ...... and those qualities would be good for playing Clark.

Couple more non-promo pics.

This pic below, I love. 2 very normal average guys, and Joe looks like a true Superman standing between them despite the clothes

Wow, I see Superman in every turn when it comes to Joe M. I seriously see Superman pic after pic. The time is now, Joe M. has to be the new breakout star. He would be a GREAT Supes, hands down.

I'm curious as to who else may be seriously considered for the role.

I don't understand the complaints about Joe M's nose. You've seen Christopher Reeve's nose right?

I don't either. I think it's fine.

Christopher Reeve's nose was thin, but it wasn't long, hooked, and crooked like Joe's nose is. i wouldn't be pointing out Joe's nose if didn't stand out. i wouldn't point how Hammer's jawline is too round if it were more angular. i wouldn't have pointed out how Hamm's age were an issue if he were younger. the issue revolving Joe's nose may be a shallow observation, but it's not an illogical one. Superman has rarely ever been drawn with a hooked nose.

That's true, it didn't look like Joe's nose, but the point still stands. Many people consider Reeve the ultimate version of the live action Superman. His thin nose didn't seem to get in the way of his performance as Superman. I don't think Joe's nose would get in the way in his portrayal either.

;)

That one like or not Joe and his nose, i think the real issue at hand, is would Joe as Superman could click with general audience?

I think he could, i could be wrong of course, but i believe it.

personally, i've never complained about Joe's acting abilities. i've only ever said that i don't like his nose. he has a good general look, but that one feature prevents me from fully liking his look. if Joe lands the role, i have no doubt that his nose won't get in the way of his performance and i never complained that his nose would hinder it in anyway. i even posted a few pages back that if it weren't for his nose, i'd be much more supportive. however, as it stands, his nose is a big problem for me...and i'll continue to express it as long as it's an issue for me the same way i'll continue to express that Armie Hammer's jawline is an issue for me if his name reappears in the rumor-mill.

Joe's got enough charisma to not be as mundane as Routh, so the general audience probably would buy him as Superman.

Reeves nose may have been thin but it didnt look like it had been broken. Wouldnt it be odd if Superman looked like he'd had a broken nose at some point?
Is that even possible?:woot:

Eh, his looks are the least of my worries.

Joe M. performance on True Blood.

I'm 100% sold on Joe. I think his performances on True Blood are top caliber. I also like what he does with his voice and the range he can go with being a very physical presence. He simply is Superman to me, period.

I didn't think that I told you to stop expressing it? So you can talk about his nose to your heart's content if you wish.

I'm more concerned with an actors performance in a role. I personally think Joe M's performance would be solid as Superman and Clark. I also think he has a better look when compared to Hammer, ie build, hair, jawline and so on.

When there are good pics of Joe and his nose, there are also bad ones that really show off just how bad it can look, especially with a seriously face, something that Superman would have in epic battles.

And these are more recent pictures then the ones posted above. Im not saying his nose is a issue with me, that much. But i do understand why people complain about it, i think with a good haircut, tone down the tan, and it wouldnt be so noticeable. But it is.
