The Official Superman Casting & Discussion Thread

Yeah, I can understand that. But all we have here are basically more rumors. I think people are just becoming desperate. I know I am, but I dont jump the gun...

Posters are probably jumping the gun about the rumors/news, including myself, but that's easy to do when you have almost no news that's reported about the film. We hear the tiniest tidbit of information and discuss it to death

We should just keep discussing Routh, Welling, Cavill, and Bomer I guess.

No, but when the new names that are mentioned are underwhelming, there's nothing wrong with discussing displeasure about the possiblity of them getting the role.

I'd like to see new names brought up that get the fanbase excited

I've come to the conclusion that WB could clone Reeve for the role and somebody somewhere would complain.

Could you all please stop speculating on the reasoning of other posters, please? It's condescending.

People already complained that Routh was a Reeve clone, even though he hardly looked like him.

somebody will be upset about the casting..it could be me, it could be you. I'm sure WB knows this and will cast who they think is best. As of now, I like Joe and I like Hammer, but if you can Show me another that has a better look, can act, and also has a shot, i'll support him.

Nemlig.

Ok, new names to liven up the thread.

Aiden Turner been mentioned?

He any good?

For the most part, everyone is discussing Joe with maturity and reason, whether they are for or against him. No one is "******** their huggies" His name was brought up in a post from Moviehole and the LAtimes(which was posted on here by you btw), and now people are discussing what they do or don't like about him.

But I guess we shouldn't post or say anything about the Joe M. as Superman at all.

Big fan of yours Jamie, but I don't see the point in your post

The majority of his career has been soap operas, and I don't like his look either.

EDIT: Referring to Aiden Turner

Fair enough. He may be too old as well.

Again, people are talking about him like he's been cast already.

I dont see Superman in him at all, so if he is indeed being looked at hard, I guess they must be going for something very specific.

Perhaps they're going for 'Kick ass and take names' Superman, as opposed to Emo Superman??

Yes, I do think this unique take that Nolan is talking about involves a more proactive Superman. Mangianello could pull that off. Maybe a bit too well.

I'm curious where I said people shouldn't discuss Manganiello?

Referring to "Why are people suddenly supporting the guy?" and subsequent "Oh they're just bandwagon jumpers" remarks. Reeks of sour grapes because of certain (preferred by some) actors are out.

My point is obvious. Chill out until we know definitively. This ain't over until we have a press release saying so or "TOLDJA" scoops it.

I think the fanboys are gonna have a cow no matter who is cast ,and at this point, I doubt WB really cares if fanboys don't like it if the actor is only 6'0 as opposed to 6'3 , or if the actor jaw isn't square etc. This is the movie biz , not the fan biz. Keeping that in mind , i'm gonna support whoever Synder picks because I want the film be a success.

That's fair enough. I personally see MORE Clark than Superman in him at this point, as his character in TB is like a Mississippi version of Clark in many ways. Again, he certainly doesn't have MY ideal look for Superman. But he looks like A Superman to me, which Hammer does not - at all - so of the two rumors we've gotten, I vote Joe.

But for the record, my ideal Superman would look nothing like Joe. He'd probably have the face and voice of this guy:

The body of Joe, and the acting ability of Daniel Day-Lewis. Sadly, that guy does not exist. Henry Cavill is my favorite real-life candidate, but we haven't heard anything about him being a real candidate. So right now, all I have to debate is Armie Hammer vs. Joe M, since those are the only two we've actually heard rumors about, and in that contest, Joe wins by a landslide for me.

That's what I call a balanced face. Two candid shots and he looks good from both angles. I could see him as Clark and Superman based on those pics. I agree with you on Cavill as well, he looks good from many angles.

^This. I hate when people generalize Supeman like there's only ONE way to do him and there's only ONE look that could be tinkered with. Someone said here that Joe's voice just doesn't "match" Superman's.

Well, what exactly IS Superman's voice? To my understanding, different people read Superman way differently and one could read his voice is a way different capacity than what another might read Superman's voice. I hate when people say that a certain actor "can't be Superman" because he "doesn't have a Superman voice."

Also, these guys being talking about aren't even MADE up to be Superman, we are simply going off a picture of one being in a damn Vampire role for God's sake.

Huh? I guess you missunderstood. I myself am saying that people should chill and not let persistant rumors decide for them, which was the vibe I got from the suddenly growing support.

I think I already said that I dont have a prefered actor as of yet.

British actor, very limited resume (mostly soap operas) and not very tall from the looks of it.

He doesn't look bad and I think might be taller than you realize. However if he can't do a decent American accent forget it. I would think because of preperation etc the latest we'll know is early April, the earliest?.... Well I keep checking the headlines every day lol. Superhero film news is coming fast and furious so if I wake tomorrow and they announce Hammer, Cavill, Joe M, Unknown, I wouldn't be surprised.

Personally, I'd accept ANYBODY. This is huge hype for the Superman fanbase, especially now since all these other successful super-hero movies are coming forward year after year.

Fans will take something and run with it, more-so now since we aren't hearing a damn thing, not even rumors OR a small list of actors for not only Superman, but for the entire casting as well.

If it was Cavill, Hammer or Joe M, or someone we haven't touched upon then I will gladly be stoked and put my full faith in Snyder, WB and Nolan. I will be very excited and pumped up regardless. I will trust in it.
