The Official Superman Thread - Part 2

This is probably going to be like Richard White all over again. When people heard that Lois was gonna be with some other man in Superman Returns, everyone was ready for him to be the biggest *****e on Earth so it'd look completely justified if Clark/Superman stole Lois from him. Then Richard turned out to be this really decent guy. Hell, Richard made Superman look like the a-hole for being a homewrecker.

Also, Clark is kiiiiiiiiiiiind of an eavesdropping a-hole.

I suppose one of the good things to come with the Superman re-boot is that Lex's past as a childhood friend of Clark (a la Smallville) is no longer continuity.

Since they dont want LC to be married I hope we see them apart for atleast the next 3-5 years and see Clark dating other people and it be serious.

3:48 - Q: Will Steel be getting his own series? A: Eventually perhaps, but he'll be playing a big role in the first year of story lines. Q: Will Superman be allowed to cut loose more often, power wise? A: He'll be kicking a lot of ass. Q: What part will Jimmy Olsen play in all of this? A: He's Superman's best friend. All the plots will be starting with their relationship.

That's what I want to see from Superman is kicking some @$$!

You mean Superman and Jimmy's friendship hasn't been broken up so Jimmy can instead hang out with some new blond?! :wow:

Seriously, good to hear Jimmy and Supes will still be best friends.

- Lex Luthor starts out as a "good guy" in Action Comics. He's a rich scientists whos made some patents and is working for the government.
- Morrison is fleshing out Steel in a whole new way, arguing that you could give him an ongoing after Morrison's treatment.
- Jimmy Olsen and Clark are two nerd friends.

Oh and this is awesome:

D'awwwww I'm glad Clark and Jimmy are still bestest friends :)

Don't want Clark to be completely alone in the new continuity

The problem with that is that you're using logic in the same universe that gave us women in refrigerators, Superman and big Barda doing a porno, and that old chess nut, homicide by kitty.

Arsenal seems to have both arms again so his kitteh murdering has hopefully been retconned

But now he's been given a frakking trucker cap

Which is pretty much what can be said for 90% of the books on the relaunch schedule.

You mean a series that would get cancelled after 6 issues because no one would buy it.
Please, this ain't Marvel. DC might keep it going for ten years if they got some good creators on it to create critical buzz.

They have said that they'll be more willing to cancel books after the relaunch. Steel being in Action Comics couldn't hurt his chances at having an ongoing. If it had been announced as part of the relaunch I'd guess it'd be one of the first cancelled.

And Anubis, it's more like 70%. You can't forget all those Batman books that sell regardless of quality.

Yeah, you gotta know that s**t's gonna be gone by issue 4.

I can see that a few of them are gonna be good, but nobody will buy them.

Like Demon Knights, or JLA Dark.

The ones that will sell will be JL, Action, Superman, Batman, and Detective.

The middle of the road stuff will be WW, Aquaman (hopefully but if it doesn't I wouldn't be surprised.),GA, JLI, maybe Stormwatch.

Everything else wont sell worth a damn. 52 books and only about 9 maybe 10 that will sell well.

Really, I've got my money on Hawk and Dove and Captain Atom being the first cancelled. DC isn't going to cancel Batwing right away because he's part of their diversity push. They'll keep him for as long as they're able. On a related note, the art for that book actually looks pretty good.

So instead of 6 he'll get 8.

Diversify all you want. Sales is the ultimate determining factor.

I'm not arguing that it isn't going to get cancelled quickly, just saying that they'll cancel Hawk and Dove first. Batwing will sell better than that book simply because it's Batman related. And if I remember correctly, Didio said they'd be giving all of these book 12 issues and then would start cancellations. I'm not sure if I believe they'll stick with that though.

Either way, most of those 52 books are gonna get s**t canned quick. Which comes first doesn't really matter.

:csad:

I really hope that most of them last longer than just twelve issues

I think Demon Knights and Stormwatch are both definitely going to do well and the bat titles all look fab. Apart from possibly Red Hood and the Outsiders

And Action Comics is being written by Grant Morrison so I think that should sell pretty well

Very few, most of them have been announced as ongoing titles.

so, been reading some of the stuff from the CC panel.....

Superman is not a "boy scout" and it's possible for him to get hurt ( hence the need for armor )........hmmmmmm

Superboy has been kidnapped and "wiped clean" and will be the VILLAIN of the Teen Titans for the 1st year......hmmmmm

Supergirl will have different powers and different power levels and manifestations ( here's hoping for some cool Psionic powers ).........hmmmm

I guess it's going to be an interesting time in the land of Superman and family, to say the least.....
