that's fake.......right???

although, given the way the DCnU Superman acts......I wouldn't put it past him to say that........lol

Really. People are calling him a Frat boy now? Jesus... I guess Frat boy is the new emo, then?

Nah, Hipster is the new Emo.

Frat Boy is the blanket term for *****e bag.

And really, he's more of a Liberal *****e than a Frat Boy. :o

"Frat boy" came to mind because of his arrogance and the disrespect he heaped on those cops. I'm fine with his newfangled politics.

Frat boy should only apply to extreme *****e baggery and date taffying scenarios.

Well, it's early yet. We don't know how his courtship of Lois'll go. :awesome:

He disrespected the cops by telling them they need to do their jobs? Superman jokingly made reference to an officer's ulcer, essentially telling him he needs to calm down, it's not like he called them pigs or something. He's just trying to get past all the red tape and actually get something done. This Metropolis seems to have a fair amount corruption, and unlike others, Superman isn't willing to look the other way.

It's not that he was very disrespectful, it's that he was at all. Superman before August 31st would never have done that. And now he will. And that is off putting for some.

Supes the frat boy? Well he does have that popped collar.......

if Superman "matures" as the book progresses......then fine.

maybe something happens that causes him to rethink his behavior and overall approach........

otherwise, this is not really a Superman I want to read........

Superman is suppose to be the "good cop" to Batman's "bad cop." but, even Batman, I don't think, would taunt the police like that.......

Well, Frank Miller's Batman would.

In fact, he'd probably piss on their cars. :o

well.....that's Miller's Batman.......

but if Superman is going to be just as "aggressive" or "in your face" as Batman is.......what's the difference??

although......it would be kind of ironic if Batman in the DCnU is the more "diplomatic" of the 2.......

You know, seeing as he gets to keep his continuity, and he's not as big a colossal *****e as he was before he "died", it's entirely possible that he will. :o

Um, "in your face" Superman is still totally different than Batman.

I see where they're coming from, but given the fact that some or maybe even all of these guys are being paid to look the other way, Superman telling them to do their job and making a couple of jokes isn't such a bad thing. His actions make sense in the context of this "new" take on Metropolis.

But as I said I can understand where they're coming from, especially if they dislike Golden Age Superman. However, that version did seem to have a bit of a cocky streak and would crack jokes from time to time. It's not the Superman I love most, but I do enjoy that characterisation. Plus when I read those stories it reminds me of my grandpa.

Batman is terminally pissed off and Superman will smile and have fun. So yeah they are different.

Superman was still being hunted by the police as late as 1942, while Batman became an official deputy of the Gotham PD in 1941.

And in one early story, Superman skipped right over the police and went right to the Mayor of Metropolis, forcing him to look at the mangled corpses from traffic accidents that had occurred because the Metropolis Police we being slack in traffic enforcement. He also smashed up a car factory in that same story.

The early Superman was a Randian's nightmare. If you know much about the Beatles, then you know before they got big, they were a much rougher and nastier band, wearing leather jackets, smoking onstage, etc. One bootleg from this period is called "The Savage Young Beatles". This is what the early period of Superman was like-he was young, full of piss and vinegar, convinced all he needed to do to save the world was slap around and humiliate the right people. The Champion of the Oppressed, the Savage Young Superman.

They've needed to bring this version of Superman back for years. This is how to kill the establishment stooge big blue boy scout crap. And it needs to die.

I would definitely say that The Champion of the Oppressed seems like it could be appealing to new readers given the current trends in pop culture and the political climate. There is such a negative view of The Big Blue Boy Scout outside the Superman fanbase that this move makes sense. I was born in 1987, so I grew up loving that version of Superman, but maybe DC has to bring the character back to his roots like they did with Batman in the 70's in order for him to reach that top level again.

:D

Seriously though, there's like 20 superheroes who are better than Superman. :o
I object. There are none. And the Boy Scout Superman is better than the Golden Age one in my opinion.

Hell at this point Dick is better than Bruce himself. Makes sense that the "son of Batman" and "nephew of Superman" would grow to be a superior character to both of them. We'll see about the DCnU but towards the twilight years of the previous DC Dick definitely did become it's best character IMO.

Never been a fan Dick or Conner and most likely never will be.
