I haven't hated any of the Superman issues. But I've had no desire to reread any of them and I wish it were better. Someone good will get on the book eventually I guess. I still love Action and Supergirl though.

I like Kenneth Rocafort's superman, but if he's leaving Red Hood, who's gonna draw Starfire's sexy ass :(

My reaction to Supermans new look has beem pretty much negative to meh.BUT when I saw this pic I have to say the armored look is awesome.
Honestly I hope the artist stays on the superman book forever,he really shows just how awesome the armored look is,something even Jim lee has consistently failed to do.The Armored look gives Superman a nice SpaceKnight Hero look which is what he is .Kinda wish It was the look we got in the MOS movie-it would look great in live action.Kids would really love this look of Superman seeing how theyve taken to looks of Ironman and Thor.Heck showed it to my nephew and he became actually interested in reading a Superman book despite viewing Superman to be a pansy.
Only thing stopping the new look from perfection is that horrible high collar-not so crazy about the sleeves idea.

Not crazy about the new writer though.Sucks doesnt even cover it.The fact Im looking forward to Superman-earthone and Smallville season 11 a lot more tells how badly superman is being written.Whats the piont of having awesome art if you dont hav awesome stories

Yea I really like the artist. I bought Red Hood because of him. The story is good but the art makes it perfect.

Im really interested in reading Red hood now.I was turned off previously when i heard Jason slept with Talia-felt way too much as incest

That was the mini. I'm not sure that's still in continuity.

For a man who can withstand a nuclear explosion, armor just looks silly on someone who doesn't need it. Batman on the other hand, looks great in an armored costume because it shows how vulnerable he truly is.

I can't wait until the 'armor every superhero and burn their trunks' fad is over

Just for the record, to answer the question of, "What has the 'Superman' book accomplished in 9 issues," the answer is that it has implied that Lois Lane knows that Clark and Superman are the same person.

So there's that.
Actually that has been done away with since the new team. Only Perez hinted at that just like he hinted at that Lois was in love with Clark but since the new team all that seems to be forgotten. :(

Thanks man.

Thor wears Armor. He doesnt need it.He however wears it for the same reason Superman wears his "armor"-as a tribute to his heritage.
One of the most popular aspects of the origin of Supermans costume is that it was made by near-indestructible kryptonian fabric.
Pre-52 the near indestrucible fabric was from his baby blankets.Post 52 the fabric was from kryptonian armor.Nothings changed save the origin of the fabric.Im sorry but it makes more sense for near-indestructible fabric to be from armor than baby blankets(although i prefer baby blankets).

Like I said I like that armored look becasue it gives him a space knight vibe.It also makes him look like a true man of steel.I however Loathe the high collar and im not fond of the pionty sleeves.I also think the S-shield on the cape should be yellow like in earth one not black.

But Thor's look has ties to the Norse times of old. Superman is modern. Big difference.

And Supermans look has ties to to Krypton of Old.again I cant see the problem
.Both Thor and Superman dont need armor that was my piont. If its okay for Thor to wear one I dont see the problem with superman wearing one.Especially when you take into account the fact it isnt actually metallic armor just near-indestructible fabric.

Suits designed to look like armor sucks, just the way of things. I'll be pretty glad when that fad fades off.

I'm kind of glad I skipped out on the Superman book. Sounds like there's not much going on there.

Two things wrong with that statement:

1. Superman does not have ties to the Krypton of Old. He was born during the last days of Krypton so he would have more ties to Modern Krypton than Ancient Krypton.

2. Superman was raised on Earth. Therefore his ties to Krypton are far more heavily muted than Thor's ties to Asgard, who's a full on Asgardian through and through in terms of mindset, family ties, and origin.

Thor needs armor far more than Superman does. And Thor is someone who is thousands of years old, not 30 like Superman.

Superman is 25 now Hippie and I can see that he wears the armor as sort of like paying respect to where he is from much like his cape. Look at Trinity you see Superman wear more traditional kryptonian clothing when in the FOS to feel a closeness to home as well as to honor where he is from. I think the same with this new suit. No he doesn't need it but he wears it to show he hasn't forgotten where he is from.

Armor on Thor is kind of stupid too. A lot of people were irritated with the chainmail look when it debuted, not because it looked bad but because it seemed to imply Thor was somehow weak enough to require armor. Obviously, JMS' portrayal of Thor quickly put that idea to bed, since Thor's as tough or tougher since his rebirth than he's ever been, but the perception with armor on a super-tough character is usually "but why?" at first.

Personally, my issue with the new costume is that it doesn't look good to me. The seams make it look too busy and I think the collar, with Superman's cape just randomly appearing over the shoulders of the costume, is a weaker design aesthetic than the wide-necked version with the cape tucked into the sides of the neck opening.

This.

Rocafort's Superman looks better, IMO, because he's softer on the details. Every little seam and wrinkle isn't etched out in hard black lines the way that someone like Jim Lee's art would have it. Thankfully, all of the excessive seams appear to be slowly but surely fading away as more and more artists are tasked with illustrating the costume. Now if only the collar could follow suit.

Eh, I'm not a fan of Rocafort's rendition either. I don't know if he colored it as well, but whoever did really went overboard on making the suit look glossy with those hard white highlights. It looks like Superman's wearing some kind of lycra there.

I'm also still not a fan of Superman with this wild, tussled 'do, either. Slicked back with the one S-curl, thankyouverymuch.

Granted, these are all relative nitpicks. The suit's still too similar to the classic suit to really be aesthetically offensive.
