The Official Superman Thread - Part 6

Supes and Lex gotta Goku vs Vegeta type of rivalry going on. I really like it. Action can use more of the Daily Planet day to day and some magnificent bastardry from SuperLex.

I am liking all the Super titles in Rebirth - Superman, Action Comics, New Super-Man, Superwoman, and Supergirl Rebirth. I hope there will be a crossover where they all team up down the line.

I have read the Superman titles, and Action comics ones so far.The action comics one is far superior imo.The Superman and son was going good but then after eradicator came,it all went to **** and became a complete mess imo.Hoping it improves.

Btw I'm a bit out of loop on this one,but why is Lex Luthor a nice guy all of a sudden(have not read Darkseid War)?It seems like he is the same ego maniac *****ebag but trying to outdo Superman by being better? Its a nice change, but it all seems like a facade, and I am as unconvinced as Superman is.

Btw whats the deal with the Clark Kent in Action Comics?I have zero idea where that story is going.

Lex in the New 52 universe hasn't really been exposed to the public as a murderer. He even backdoored himself into the Justice League for a time, furthering establishing himself to the world as a hero. It's his ego that makes him want to be the new Superman after the New 52 one had passed.

When Post-Crisis Superman appeared, so did a non-powered Clark Kent. We're still waiting to learn more. What we do know if that neither Superman or Lex are involved.

Yeah I kind of got that.I was really surprised when I saw him actually genuinely trying to save people and stuff.I really wonder whats his endgame.

Btw I know about Clark.I was asking if people had any theories about where this Clark came from.Seems like Mr Oz may have had a hand, and it was hinted that new 52 Superman told him to stay in hiding or something.

No endgame. He just realized he can't make the world hate Superman so instead he's trying to make the world love him more.

I love it because his heroics aren't sincere, but there isn't a nefarious ulterior motive either. He's just feeding his arrogance and superiority complex through acts of heroism.

Yeah,didnt think like that,thats neat.

Any ideas about Clark? And btw I meant to ask, does Action comics focus just on Superman? If not who else?

S*** has gotten real. I know the Eradicator isn't some people's cup of coffee/tea, but this arc was more about establishing the Kent family and Jon as Superboy. Thematically, Eradicator ties in nicely because he's all about preserving Krypton and the newest addition to the House of El is half human so the alien robot is doing what it was programmed to do. I think it's great and so do most people on the net, but I don't get why you don't like it idiot.

As far as what I think's going on with Clark Kent... I don't know. Maybe he's Dr. Manhattan that thinks he's Clark Kent? Or maybe the Superman we think is real is Dr. Manhattan? I have no idea.

Okay,so I read the four thissue again, and it feels much better.Idk,the first time I read it the art seemed to be a bit offputing, with all the souls coming out and all that,it just seemed very messy and incoherent. The story I thought was going great till the third issue.I will get to 5th issue, after my exams are over. The comicbook store is quite far from my house so I usually make a trip and buy in bulk.

About Dr Manhattan, idk. Its also a bit peculiar how Doomsday came here, and which Doomsday it is.I guess we just have to wait eh?

I wonder if in IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER arc Clark tells Bruce that it was Thomas Wayne that delivered Jon. That's a good place for them to start burying their beef.

Thomas Wayne delivered Jon?Wait HOW?Didnt Thomas Wayne live in Flashpoint timeline? Is this related to convergence? Can anyone give me a short summary?

Basically FP JL attack Post Crisis Supes. FP Supes kidnaps pregnant Post Crisis Lois because FP Lois is dead and he wants to protect PC Lois from the same fate. After PC Supes beats the crap out FP JL they decide they're on the same side. Around this time Lois' water breaks and Thomas Wayne (FP Batman) is the only doctor on hand. Jon is born in Convergence.

Ah okay thanks.

Btw what issues are you picking up?I'm following Superman,Action comics,Justice League,Flash,Green Arrow and "Hal Jordan and GL".Its too much!!I will follow them for some time, then trim it down according to which ones I like more.I'm tempted to buy detective comics as well but ahhh. How about you?any recommendations?

My pull list is huge.

Superman
Action Comics
Green Arrow
Deathstroke
Green Lanterns
Hal & the GLC
New Super-Man
Titans
Aquaman
The Flash
Wonder Woman
Red Hood & the Outlaws

Cyborg and Teen Titans if they're good. I love them all too much to drop them.

Best books right now IMO is Superman, Green Arrow, the Flash, and Deathstroke. The former three have been consistently good to great. Deathstroke... read my summary at the bottom of that thread.

Enjoying Rebirth a lot, especially the Super books (Superman, AC and Supergirl)! I don't remember my DC pull list being that big in a long time:

Superman
Action Comics
Supergirl
Justice League
Wonder Woman
The Flash
Aquaman

and can't wait for
Trinity
Super Sons

!

I want to thank everyone who recommended Superman and Action Comics Rebirth because I'm thoroughly enjoying them both. Feels good to actually be able to look forward to new issues of Superman again.

Does the Superman lineup shed any light on
Doc Manhattan's motives for creating the "New 52 universe?" I think I read something in a summary for the Rebirth launch book that said Watchmen's Manhattan was responsible for the New 52.

Also - what was the deal with New 52's Superman? I know Cavil's take on the character has been described as dark, but the Supes I met in Justice League: Origin seemed a bit worse in that regard.

Got me, I was not a fan of Justice League: Origin.

But I will say the New 52 Superman that appeared in Action Comics (by Grant Morrison and later Greg Pak) I enjoyed very much.

DC is holding onto their cards. They want to make sure the story is told right. You don't just half-ass the Watchmen into the DCU.

That said, if you want to know what's going on with the overarching story your best bet is to keep an eye on Titans, Green Lanterns, and Action Comics. Wally, the exiled Guardian, and maybe Mr. Oz are the only ones that know what is going on.

Thanks. I'll probably wait until those runs get collected in graphic novel form. That way I don't start jonesing between issues. I'm already doing that with rebirth's Deathstroke book.

Yeah Superman and Action have been two of my favorite Rebirth titles

Superman titles continue to be awesome. I enjoyed when 52 Superman lost his powers, but at a certain point it got tiresome.

I've also read Superwoman and Supergirl, and both were, again, very enjoyable.

I've been enjoying the Super titles, as well.

but, I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with multiple books on a monthly basis.

might just stick with Supergirl and wait for Superman and Action to come out in graphic novel form.

Son of Superman has concluded. Here are my thoughts on this arc in one gif.
