The Official Superman Thread - Part 6

That's a great cover and I'm very excited for that series, in spite of my feelings toward Landis himself.

Bleeding Cool reports Howard Porter (Justice League 3001) will take over art duties on Superman because Romita Jr. has taken on a secret DC project.

When does this go into effect?

except there is more to this story, as seen in action #43. About truth, Action and superman/WW are great. Batman/Superman is incredibly boring and the characterization is awful. And Superman is a waste of time. #43 is especially lame.

I'm so happy Porter is taking over. I like 90's Romita, but I don't care for his art now. I can't say I like his work on superman.

Action Comics continues to be the best Superman title out there. I'm not a fan of where B/S is proceeding in the story and it seems like the main title is still stuck in the past (I haven't read the last two issues). S/WW is the only book I'm not reading, but I might give it a shot.

I've not bothered with Superman until this Truth story started. While the core Superman book has been very lackluster in terms of both writing and art, the other titles are decent. I think I like Superman/Wonder Woman the best. I never realized that it was written by Tomasi, one of my favorite writers, so I might go back and read some more of it. The writing is great and the art is phenomenal. Much better than the rest of the titles. Action is the second best. Sadly, Batman/Superman (which I've read since the beginning) is about on par with the core Superman title.

Howard Porter has been killing it on JLA 3K/3K1

I like his newer stuff even more than his 90's JLA stuff. It has more character and is more refined and detailed. So I look forward to his stint on Superman.

^ Saw the previews for both, but I'm a trade-waiter, so I'll have to wait for the rest. Both S:AA and that looked fantastic though. And yeah, a lot of warm and fuzzy feelings seeing those versions of Lois and Superman back.

Just a shame he apparently loses his classic look so quickly.

I'm also a trade waiter (for the most part) though, I was interested enough in this to pick it up along with the trades I got. I'm not sure yet if I'll grab the rest of the floppies as they come out or just wait for the trade.

I enjoyed Lois & Clark. Some of the stuff may seem OOC at first but when you really think about it it does make sense. Also their voices which was most important were completely on point. It's like a Jurgens Superman book from the 90's in that sense. Also Jon is already a pretty charming kid in the little time we've spend with him.

I also liked how the
9 year gap between their arrival on Earth-0 and the present day in their life pretty much negates that dumb 5 years of history crap
seems like the general continuity is indeed much more malleable now under the "story over continuity" mandate as promised.

I wasn't planning on getting Lois and Clark but I did anyway. It's great to see a more classical version of Superman again and to be honest, compared to the other Superman titles, I'm more interested in seeing how this series progresses.

I'm enjoying the current stories in the regular Superman titles. Especially now that it's been revealed who the real big bad behind everything is.

Thank the gods for the new Superman Lois & Clark title! I actually feel like I'm reading a Superman comic book again. As much as I hate the new Superman redesign and reinterpretation of his relationship with Lois; this title has made me realize that my displeasure goes way beyond those surface elements. I hope that this title is around for a very long time. It has the potential to be the best DC title currently out.

Anybody else read the new Superman comic American Alien?

I just finished the first issue and loved it. I really enjoy Max Landis as a writer and I look forward to seeing what he can do with this.

Agreed, I love "American Alien" so far.

BTW, does anyone have any idea when the superman from the regular Superman books will get his powers / suit back?

I came onto the Superman books with Truth and loved it at first but quickly grew bored. I still like the two Batman and Wonder Woman books, but Superman and Action has completely lost my interest. I think I'm done with those two.

Are you up to date with the latest?

I really liked the second issue but Im not sure how I feel about this third one. I really liked the art work but just found it a bit odd how he happens to crash land right next to
Bruce Waynes party boat
