So what I'm hearing is that you want Joe Kelly to re-imagine Doomsday as a black comedy character. Which, now that I think about it, would be awesome.

That would be awesome.

Have Doomsday start a band or become a stand up comedian that kills his hecklers... I don't know it would be completely ridiculous but more fun to read than another "Doomsday goes crazy and kills everybody" story.

I think even then Doomsday would still be terrible.

Like the thing about Deadpool is that Deadpool didn't have like 20 years' worth of uniformly ****** appearances before someone finally got around to making him a good character. I think the **** is pretty much part and parcel of Doombles, now.

Hahaha

Doomsday trying to get his anger issues under control. He wears a tie and suspenders and speaks at conventions to try to help people. Every once and awhile Superman shows up and Doomsday starts sweating cause all he can think about is punching Superman in his smug face. That was the point of Grounded right? To make Superman a smug jerk? :oldrazz:

Just as Doomsday is getting his life back on track Superman moves in next door

Hillarity ensues :awesome:

"I would've had the presentation done on time, sir, but Super--er, something super-important came up and started getting all sanctimonious at me so I spent the next twelve hours pummeling him into the sidewalk..."

(Cue canned laugh track)

Doomsday moves in with a patriotic hero and the Norse god of Rock, and start watching TV Puppet Palls.

With his crazy roommate Hush with his crazy get rich quick schemes.

"Come on Doomy! Help me kill my parents!"

Just finished 705. If Superman hadn't heard that little kid's scream and kept on walking, I'd have been all kinds of distraught. What an issue.

See, I haz a heart :(

If anything, I'm very impressed with Eddy Barrow's. I hope he draws supes for a long time.

As for the story itself...it was decent.

I could just see Doomsday going up to Superman and telling him

" I don't know what it is about your face,
[holds up fist]
but I just wanna deliver one of these right in your suck hole."

So JMS is finishing with #706. I wonder if in #707, Superman will just be like "Y'know what? Screw that lady and her husband's brain tumor. I don't need some stupid road trip to find myself. I'M SUPERMAN!!!"

"How does Superman deal with the darkness in the human heart??" Well, it turns out he just takes the guy to prison, much like how he deals with most things..

I mean honestly, I thought this issue was just fine, even effective at certain points...until I got to that last page. Sweet Buffy on high, it was so ****ing preachy I couldn't believe it. It was like Superman literally transformed into JMS, turned and looked directly at the audience, and started spouting off about how it's our faults that kids get beaten.

I haven't heard a thing yet about this arc that didn't make it sound like "JMS judges the **** out of his audience on extremely specious grounds".

:woot:

Ladies and gentlemen we just fixed Doomsday.

Superman

Healing America by beating people up :awesome:

God that issue was so bad. Pretentious, high-horsey, and turning an incredibly complex issue like child abuse and turning it into a PSA? Nice going there JMS. And I'm sure that kid, who probably still loves his dad given how so many issue like that work, feels great that Superman has pretty much FORCED him to leave a message every single day, without the kids getting a say, otherwise his dad will get beaten up or something by Superman.

Yes, that's not simplifying a big issue at all. Between this and the issue where Dick Grayson had Bruce's personality injected into him, this series is my personal berserk button.

The Action Comics Secret Six crossover starts this week I cannot wait to read how Cornell writes Vandal Savage and the Secret Six team
