The Official 'Thor Rate & Review' thread

"Branagh grounds it though, in a classic tale of a King and his two sons, allowing the extraordinary 3D action – and it is extraordinarily good – to branch off from a captivating tale of power, corruption and redemption...
Thor is the first proper blockbuster of the year. A magnificent space romp that will thrill even the most cynical viewer, and a fantastic and fantastical reason to make the trip to the cinema."

This is a key point. Even cynical critics wanting to hate on yet "another comic book film" can't bring themselves to hate it. Imagine what opened minded general audiences are going to think? Now imagine the FANS?!?!?

Can't wait!

There's more than one reviewer at that Herald. It's quite common.

Sydney Morning Herald

And this one's really negative. :csad:

What gives? Does the Sydney Morning Herald run two official reviews? Weird. And annoying!

This review stinks, it's basically useless 'filler'. The only thing that he encompassed in was telling people that he's a lousy 'reviewer', I don't exactly have a problem with the He-Man comparison since I don't dislike that movie (for the most part).

Some random twitter comments:
#thor Marvel studios wins again. OTT in the best way possible. Hemsworth owns the role 4/5 #filmreview in #3D it's tri-winning

All that is on my mind is Thor. just a great film

just saw #THOR its a good film i really enjoyed it :)

#Thor was #Thor-tastic! Not ground-breaking, well a lot of ground was broken but in movie terms not ground-breaking, but a great film!

Everyone go watch Thor, it's awesome.

So far Thor is a total nerdgasm. Volstagg and Sif my faves.

Just watched Thor. It was pretty epic. :D
:awesome:

Back early, again. In addition to my earlier trouble of my local cinema not showing Thor in 2D, driving to 2 subsequent cinemas near me lead to the discovery that they were also not showing the film in 2D, which led me to complain to one of the managers vehemently (I may have inadvertently dropped an f-bomb in front of some kids too during my outburst, which I'm not proud of). I eventually found another cinema showing it in 2D tonight (one session only). I swear this 3D BS is gonna be the death of cinema, they are forcing people to pay for 3D. Sorry, rant over, my review will be tonight, but knowing my luck today the reel will probably catch fire during the film.

I loved it. Hemsworth was really good. Much better than I expected.

Sif is my favourite. She's a badass. If there is ever a Wonder Woman movie, Jaimie Alexander has to play her. :hrt:

But he like Transformers 2, so who really cares what he thinks? If you're going to **** on Thor for being a big, dumb film for the masses after giving Transformers 2 a pass then you really shouldn't call yourself a critic.

Wow .... likes TF2? That says it all for me. I give his review zero cred.

You know what else you shouldn't be proud of? The fact that you felt the need to swear at another human being over not seeing a movie.

Oh, sorry, not seeing a movie in 2D.

I'd end up trying to decide if every third review was positive or negatory, and I'd like to keep the excerpts anyway. I guess I'll just start a new post and put up a link in the first one.
That'll work, too! Thanks for doing this, btw, you're doing an awesome job.

What's got me real curious is whether the poll will close when Thread Manager reboots the thread. I think it locks them. :down
Yeah, sadly the poll will be closed as soon as Thread Manager gets his mangy hands on it. Which probably means before the movie even opens in America. Might we get to make a "Rate & Review Thread: US Edition" when that time that comes? Or would that be frowned upon?

We could always PM Corp when this thread gets close to 1000 posts and he can lock it and someone can manually create a new one with the same poll.

But then the old votes would be lost :csad:

****ing Thread Manager, somehow it has even figured out how to take Rate & Review threads from us :argh:

He's Australian. We swear at everybody for everything. :yay:

I'm not surprised at all at the good reviews. Nobody is saying it's a masterpiece, just a really good, well paced, well executed summer action movie. Isn't that kind of what we were all expecting?

I wasn't a big fan of Iron Man 2, but in general Marvel has shown they know what they're doing with their own properties. I look forward to seeing this.

Well, it's recieved a couple of 5/5 stars and comments like "Thor is a perfect example of how a superhero film should be made" and "Marvel Studios's best film yet including Iron Man".

So I think there's a few critics who think it's a masterpeice :woot:

There's no denying that, like Iron Man, Thor is disproportionately benifitting from RT's binary system, but it's still nice to see that it's being well received. Good for Branagh, and good for Marvel for taking a risk with him.

So you don't think Iron Man deserved a 94%?
