The Official Thor thread

Harmless fun man. 'sides the new armour look is pretty cool though I was alot happier with King Thor. Ah well, it was too elaborate a design to be a long term thing anyways. The main character of any comic should be as easy to draw as possible considering how often the artist has to draw him/her.

I just don't like that the bottom two disc on Thor's outfit are drawn to look screen printed on. I don't get it.

Misleads the enemy from a ball shot. kinda like the yellow ellipse on Batman's chest

More effect that way. Though you have to admit, if the Mighty Thor needed to sew stuff like that on his armor to mislead enemies whom would dare lay their hands (or other body parts) on the Odinson's crown jewels, the enemies of Asgard must've been a bunch of dirty bastards

lol I understand, I would think if those were like the other 4, they'd be cracking him in the privates quiet a few times a day.

Maybe its symbolic to Asgardians. 6 might be an auspicious number. In Islamic culture everything ends with an odd number (thus 13 is a lucky number). Maybe in Norse culture from a comic book perspective, even numbers are better.

A good Hero is only defined by his villains. JMS while great at writing characters doesn't really create good villains. Any hopes for good villains?

We could do a "THOR FASHION THREAD."

I suggest he wear chain mail from head to toe...the shine would blind enemies into submission and the scales would scratch. All the worse to grapple with...:woot:

Speaking of attack methods, you'd wonder why no one tries the 'jewel box grab' in any of these comic fights. Just to see it once would be funny.

recently i've been getting back into the comic book buying. i'm looking to get some stuff on Thor. any recommendations?

Yeah, Mike Oeming written Thor. Check out Blood Oath and Disassembled. And if you're interested in gods in general, his Ares mini he wrote with Travel Foreman on art duty is superb. Much better than anything Ares is currently appearing in today.

Ares was pretty much the best mini concerning the god thing Marvel has going to date, in my opinion. The talk with his son about fighting is priceless.

Yeah, it's up there. Marvel needs to hire Oeming as the writer for everything god-related.

Well, maybe, maybe not. Because he'd eventually run out of ideas, then we'd get stuck with a million Celestial stories the moment he's switched out.

But yeah, by far, THE best god-related writer hands down.

I'd have to say Blood Oath and Disassembled as well. Both arcs were great.
