The Official TIH Preview Thread

doubt that will happen :D ;)

There's one move from the game though, that I'd love to see. It would be just badass if Hulk would perform an elbow smash by jumping off a building.

I think releasing the first few minutes of the movie would be a brilliant idea, it sets the mood for the entire movie and will let people know what kind of movie this will be. IMO from the script those first 3 minutes are great and will have a big impact, I hope they have decided to release them early like LL said.

It seems like that is the new trend. Speed Racer did it also. The idea is good for anyone who still may have doubts.

Not that Hulk using the car bothers me at all, and I don't know if anyone has already suggested this but...

The clip suggests that Hulk has already been slugged one by Abomination (it looks like he is just getting up as Abom steps over the bus), now considering he might just have taken a very good punch (good enough to send him flying and put him down momentarily) and seeing Abom is bigger than him and likely has a considerable reach advantage, one that Hulk can see he has trouble getting past, maybe he uses the cars simply to boost his own reach? He does use them to both block and punch in that sequence.

Just a thought, and like I said, I really aint bothered bothered by it: Whatever the rationale behind it (or lack of, as the case may be) it makes for some great superhero slugfest eye candy.

Maybe if he'd use something more durable than a car. Like a sharpened steel girder.

He may very well use girders aswell
I believe he does in the script
just so happens in the scene we were shown, the car is the nearest thing that'll do the most amount of damage.

As cool as the scene looked, I really hope they don't rip too many moves from the games. The last thing I want to see Hulk do, is to use a bus to skate around.

Yeah that would get a little silly.

To me, Hulk's fighting style should be like an uber world class athlete from all sports. Taking moves from them and utilizes them as offensive and defensive attacks and so for EFFECT PURPOSES, a few elbow smashes from of the top of a roof would look COOL.

I don't know if anyone here has been in a street fight but when you're pissed all types of thoughts go through your head as I've mentioned before frustration, desperation and Hulk being who he is probably takes that to the nth degree.

could happen

Yeah send him to a research facility, that's headed by one Samuel Sterns :cwink:.

If this is to be trusted...

The Leader's alter ego, Samuel Sterns is set to appear in the upcoming The Incredible Hulk, played by Tim Blake Nelson. The Leader version of the character will not appear as they only included Samuel Sterns in the movie to set The Leader up as a villain in a forthcoming sequel.

...you might be right.

Yeah he is
Banner and Betty go to him to see if he has a cure but Blonsky causes an explosion in his lab, leaving the fate of sterns unknown
That's definately a sequel set up.

Which is what I said in my post but you put it together much better. :yay::up:

and have you ever learned how to interpret a sentence?
I said that the injuries that you suffer are the same, and not that the gloves soften the impact.

Honestly, I can give a crap less what you said, because I wasn't talking to you. I was just making a broad general statement, not backing anyone else's opinions on the matter. :o

Hulk's fighting philosphies have always reminded me of Jackie Chan. Hulk, like Chan, uses his enviroment to a great degree while in battle. If it's a rock, car, tank, or even a hulkbuster, he'll use it to clobber someone. That was at least one thing Ang Lee understood, it's nice to see LL get it too.

ANyway though Hulk won't even level up to the likes of Spiderman 3

Seems too comicbooky which is the reason I loved Ang's for not having that.

I guess you missed that these films are adaptations of comicbooks?

-The more 'comicbooky' they are the better they are.
That's all there is to it.

Re: this new fight clip, besides the fact that Abom looks more like the berserker from Gears of War than Abom, it got my juices flowin.

Of course, you gotta except the Abom redesign in order to enjoy the movie. Abom speaking was really great, his voice is spot on.
I really hope Hulk says more than a line or two. If we just get one token 'Hulk Smash' or 'Puny Human' like in Hulk 03, just to appease the fans, that will be lame.

Really pumped for this film now.
Marvel seems to be going all out with the promo which is cool.

Good comparison and so true.

Hulk's an improviser.

I want hulk to say short but meaningful things like

"Hulk loves Betty"

"Hulk wants to be alone"

Or maybe something like in the cartoon, when he looks at a stone gargoyle after Betty told him something mean (to save him) and he said something like "Stone lucky. Doesnt hurt, like Hulk"

That broke my heart

I really loved how Hulk pounds Abom down INTO the street. Even when he punches him in the face, Abom's head kicks back and chips some more of the street. Great attention to detail.

Word.

It will be fuggin awesome if Hulk says any of the above.

Exactly. The Hulk isn't the world's greatest thinker, so he's coming into this on a purely emotional knee-jerk response level. You want to thrash someone who's put you down, you grab the nearest thing within your reach and beat the snot of out of them - hence the empty squad car. And I can also justify the conversation (such as it is) during this. Remember the scene at the end of the first Die Hard, where McClane is fighting with the long-haired guy? He's beating this dude unmercifully and saying some hateful stuff to him while he's repeatedly punching the crap out of this guy. I thought that was VERY realistic, especially in a no-rules street brawl situation.

I'd rather see a few 'easter eggs' for the fans (like the 'car boxing gloves') than a stylized Kung Fu master Hulk using Matrix-esque maneuvers, etc. The Hulk should have ZERO fighting skills beyond school yard elementary punching, kicking and taking anything within reach and using it as a weapon to extend his reach so he can more safely thrash an opponent. It's far more brutal and savage - and that's Hulk at his best. If anything, being a product of military training, Blonsky/Abom should be the one with all the fancy moves, which the Hulk must somehow overcome with nothing but bare knuckle brawling and rage. It makes the Hulk's task that much harder, which makes for a more dangerous fight, as Hulk is the underdog in several ways - which makes him beating the Abom all the more satisfying.

Uhm, yeah, but doesn't this show the opposite? If the Hulk's not a great thinker, he should've just picked up the car, use it as a bat and smack it across Abom's face. Not take his time to split it into two and then use it as gloves.

Bravo, man! I thought I was the only one who remembered that episode. That was the first time a Saturday morining cartoon almost jerked a tear from me. :csad:

The hulk is a creature of pure rage but it's been shown throughout the years he does have a brain, that he uses. Now I'm not saying he's going to solve world hunger or build a rocket but he has enough intelligence to know what will help in a battle situation. This was displayed well in Ang's hulk where the hulk used the top of the tank to protect himself from the shells.

That's true, and I'm guessing they did it as a nod to the UD game. Perhaps he does thrash Abom with a complete vehicle at some point later in the fight? I'd explain splitting the car in two halves as 1) making it easier to carry, which makes the Hulk more mobile during the exchange, and 2) as he's using both hands, then both should have equal protection, and 3) one half of the car can be a bludgeon while the other half can act as a shield. (Granted, I'm reaching here.:yay:)

It's hard to gauge the Hulk in battle, because his rage, as it increases, more easily overshadows his already limited reasoning capacity. And since we don't know what level of intelligence this movie's Hulk will have, it's even more difficult to pin down. I am hoping and rationalizing that by the end of the film - where this battle takes place - Banner will have managed to exert some form of control over the Hulk. How much and in what way is unknown, so... so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.:woot:

I don't know about you but I think so far the most widely regarded superhero/villain fight in a populated area has to be the Metropolis fight between Superman and General Zod, Ursa and Non. Despite the FX they had back then you really got a sense what it would be like to be a mere mortal stuck in the middle of a fight between super powered beings and just how dangerous it is. I certainly hope that LL has captured that very essence.

I remember seeing that scene in the theater as a kid and just being blown away....:supes:

There have been better since that, sure..but that was the first time an epic, comic book scale battle had ever been put on film.
