The Official TIH Video Game Thread

But Uncharted is an amazing game! It isn't repetitive as you think it is. If you say Uncharted is like that then it can be said for any game, for example PES or FIFA is just kicking a ball or Mario Galaxy is just Mario getting stars from one planet then flying over to another.

Uncharted had a great storyline and gameplay so the game doesn't get boring. All the characters are very believeable in look and actions.

But you don't just shoot 5 billion pirates, you shoot zombies too!!!

Game cliches abound! I kid I kid. But seriously I will be getting Uncharted, but as it stands I am trying to be more conservative with my funds. If it's something I have done before, say... FPS, or Mario Kart, or something like that. You know, the types of games that are a dime a dozen, I do intend to save my money and get them on good ol' half.com for like 20-30 dollars the month after.

Edit: Grr.. now it finally posts my original response! Oopsy!

I'm talking about the 360 though, I don't care about the Wii game and it's awful graphics.
online multiplayer is for 360. i just poste those wii screens just cause.
i have a 360 and i look foward to the skins and villians in online play, i hope for a red hulk, WWH skin, classic abomination and more!

And you happen to be wrong on that count. Sega of America is the publisher. Teams from both Edge of Reality (who's only claims to fame are ports of other developers work, back on the 64 no less) and Amaze Entertainment are the developers.

I could go on to correct a lot of what you had to say about the versions of the games... but I'll hold my peace.

I own all 3 next-gen consoles. If you want to exclude all remotely Mario related games (which would be like saying exclude FPS's on 360)... Zelda, RE4 (port, but still oh so good with the new controls), Zack and Wiki, No More Heroes, and Metroid Prime.

Seeing as I still am interested in Disaster Day of Crisis, Fatal Frame IV, SBCG4AP (love that abbreviation), World of Goo, FF:CC as well as the other games on the other next-gen systems... I have my hands full thank you.
On Sega's site, they do not credit anyone but them selves. So I don't know hwere you are getting that. Now unless, you have worked in the industry, owning consoles doesnt make you an expert, lol. But by all means correct me, cause I have worked in the industry at EA and know the behind the scenes stuff regarding the developing. So, you wanted to correct what? Oh, MGS's long absence had really nothing to do with perfecting the game. Besides all the glitches, the game was too big for the blu-ray it is being put on. Theywere told it had to be one disc only and hence the long wait from sony. Wii it up, that console bites, lol. Only the 360 or ps3 are worth owning. TIH game is a repeat of UD and a story mode, so it should be okay. All the games you mentioned are your preferences, which is your taste in gaming. I prefer Crisis Core, God of War, GTA4, COD4, Half-life, Elder scrolls, Crysis (pc), AC, GOW2, MGS4, no Wii Wii games, Sorry. but hey, thats my choice.:woot:

Yes... yes I still get a great laugh. Why? Because no less time gets spent. They have their deadlines. No less attention is spent. The reason that movie games in general suck is due to the innate time restraints.

Exclusives =/= better games. Better games are usually made by developers that just happen to be focused on polish. Games like God of War are made by SONY for SONY, get the picture? Hence quality. Just as Nintendo is bound to make a quality Mario game, and Microsoft is bound to make a quality Halo game.

They know their own hardware.

Metal Gear is polished because the team spends years, not because it is exclusive. Kojima is a very passionate. That's why it's quality.

But you cannot afford to do that with a movie game.

Movie games are COP OUTS, by their very nature to earn quick bucks. Why anyone would believe limiting the consoles it is developed for would increase the quality is beyond me. (Especially with devoted developers and teams so resources are NOT limited.) It's the amount of time thats needed, which they don't have. So I shall continue to laugh my god given *** off.

Don't you think that developing a game both for past and current generations hinders the game itself though? Porting between the 360 and PS3 is one thing but when you involve the PS2 and Xbox, graphics start changing and you have to worry about the CPU's processing and in some cases even certain gameplay mechanics (especially with the Wii which might as well be a separate game altogether). I mean playing Marvel: Ultimate Alliance or Spider-man 3 or Superman Returns I wonder how much better these games would have looked and played if these guys did not have to worry about what the old platform games would be like.

EB you might want to check the 8,000 other sources besides SEGA's site. Check game press websites. Apparently working in the industry didn't help your investigatory skills.

Oo! I know, let's nail EB further by going to Edge of Reality's site even, which was apparently to hard to google! http://www.edgeofreality.com/

And I own most of those (will own for those not out) as well. I didn't just mention my preferences, but those that look to be promising games on the system, as well as those that are already have been released and are critical successes. I am not telling you to like them, but I am telling you that you've over looked gems that professionals agree on.

I don't think you really know what my choices and or preferences in games are as they are far to varied. I own 40 GC games, 32 PS2 games, 13 Wii games, 11 360 (after selling many back for both systems) and only 2 PS3 games (but that will change with this fantastic year for the system.)

God of War is repetitive and easy. Titan mode in II was laughable. Which is why I am not as into it as I once was. Action games need to be re-playable, sadly God of War offers nothing for me.

I refuse to get Crisis Core for my now stagnant and dusty PSP, as the last decent Final Fantasy was 10 (which was pushing it even) and I refuse to give money to the hype machine that is FFVII as the first game didn't even wow me outside of the fact I was going "OMFGZ TEH FF IS IN TEH 3D!!!!!!!11!!!11!"

Oblivion is one of my favorite games, EVER.

Just because I hate the floodgate of them doesn't mean they're bad. CoD4 is fine, I play it occasionally, but in the end I've done it before. Just as I love smash and mario, but... I've done them before. Still amazing games, (especially Galaxy) but, they are really just perfecting what was already there.

I love the Wii because it gives people the CHANCE to do something different. And I hate developers for skipping over that chance. As it stands Wii Sports is STILL the only thing to do anything different.

Only a small amount was cut from MGS4, because they wanted to fit uncompressed audio on Blu-ray, oh, and thanks for proving my point about the whole "perfecting" aspect, when you said they spent so much time working out BUGS, which would in fact be.... drum roll please.... perfecting it!

LMFAO!!! Great post, really.

But, In TIH's case it is TWO DIFFERENT DEVELOPERS working on multiple versions. It means that TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT COMPANIES are working on different versions of the game. (Edit: Half of the versions go to Edge of reality half go to Amaze. Just looked it up awhile ago.)

As for Rockstar and Bully, they've always been playstation ****es. Bully was ONLY re-released on Wii and 360 for ONE reason extra $$$ and they were nearly direct ports. It was essentially money for little effort. Producing it for one console first had NOTHING to do with it's ratings. Taking their time and creating the best game possible had EVERYTHING to do with it's rating.

If that's the case I suppose you think GTA IV is going to get 7's due to the fact it was developed for multiple consoles? :pal: But no seriously bud, great laugh.

Looks like you misunderstood my post entirely. I even specifically said in a previous post "they ought to have made TIH game for one or two consoles instead of most of the consoles". I find it hard to fathom how you take my point about games that come out on all consoles failing and turning it into "LOL well you must think GTA IV is gonna fail cuz its on two consoles lolololol".

I think you've got it wrong. I got the impression that he was saying less time and effort goes into the game itself when it's being developed for multiple consoles. Many games would have been much better off if they just focused on what's at hand and the best games are usually console exclusive. The Metal Gear games, the God of War, Devil May Cry (4 is only next gen consoles, excluding the Wii), etc. It's hard to find good games available for multiple consoles and games like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, even though it was a lot of fun, would have been much better if they focused on the next gen games instead of worrying about PS2 and Xbox versions. Justice League Heroes stuck to the PS2 and Xbox and was a much more well polished game for it.

Still a great laugh?

THANKYOU!

See Frostbite? Savage actually read my posts.

I think it's a waste of time to continue developing for PS2 but I can see the reasoning behind it. Wii is a next-gen console despite older graphics. I do believe it'd be crazy for movie games not to release on the fastest selling system from a business stand point. As well as the fact movie games main audience is usually (no offense guys) for kids. Thus, you have a huge market base on Wii, and an even bigger one on PS2 where you can just take the same messed up game (Spider-man 3) butcher the looks even further, and slap it on another console for more money.

See, I would be worried about developers doing it, but no. They are always separate versions built for different systems. Treyarch did Spider-man 3, Vicarious Visions did it on Wii, PS2.

Amazingly two separate companies made it suck just as much on 4 different consoles.

They don't take top teams to make movie games (Edit: I mean look at TIH's developers... Edge of Reality's claim to fame is N64 ports of Neversoft's Tony Hawk Series, that's it!) , that's a fact, they don't hire top developers, and the developers don't even have the time to make the fantastic game they want to so badly.

This is why they suck, not because of a multi-platform release.

Alright, Starwars Force Unleashed then. Seems to have real promise and yet... 360, PS3, Wii, Ps2, DS, PSP, ....probably cell phone in the future (you get the point, they are milking it to hell.)

Does it mean it will suck? No. (Albeit it looking a bit bland.) But it might on some of the versions.

So I misunderstood one part, again, lock me up! Woo... starting to feel like theshape here!

Edit: Let's go to IGN and pluck out multi-platform games (meaning on next-gen, last-gen, cell-gen, gen-schmen) that are amazing shall we? Keep in mind many will have to be around the "turn of the gen" period as thats when they were on so many platforms it was disgusting.

Splinter Cell Double Agent - 9.0 on 360
Guitar Hero III - 8.9 on 360
Burnout Revenge - 8.9 on 360
PES 2008 - 8.6 on 360 and oh.. oh.. wait for it... 8.6 on Wii.
Tomb Raider Legend - 8.2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance - 8.2
Peter Jackson's King Kong! (A Movie Game!) - 8.0

Being on other consoles didn't harm the games at all.

Hmm.. I wonder if there's a hi res of the game cover yet. All I see are idiots arguing

Yeah can we get back to discussing the Hulk game sometime soon?!

I hope there is still a roar button, I LOVED that! I also wish they'd make the buildings where you could even punch through a wall and destroy them from the inside out! Throw around some desks and vending machines etc. THat would be VERY cool!

Sorry about that, we were as in discussing whether multiple developers/teams would diminish it's quality, and yet I suppose we were a little side tracked.

Gosh this ignore function sucks, I bet Comikaze was coming in here to give me some sort of compliment. :oldrazz:

Indeed, more destruction = more fun. I personally would like buildings demolished similar to the cancelled (or put on hold as the studio is no longer with us) Marvel fighting game. The way it looked when Hulk smashed Captain America through the buildings was fantastic.

What does the roar do? Or is it just like a horn?

Well since people are busy debating why the game will lose quality because its multiplatform(when the next gen PS3/360 and handheld/Ps2 versions are two completly different style of games i can't see how it will) i'll add my cent in that i have high hopes that this will be a worthy succesor to UD and it goes to show that Sega at least is treating this license with respect.

They updated their blog with pictures of Bi-Beast, The U-Foes, and The Enclave.
