:D

I think TW was trying to force himself not to laugh on that one (biting part of his upper lip). It's one of those serious faces where you want to look serious but crack down laughing 2 seconds later. :D

Take One: Play Misty for Me
Tom Welling weathers some deadly dampness in The Fog

By Ann Donahue

Faster than a speeding bullet! More powerful than a locomotive! Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound! It's... oh, wait. Never mind. Tom Welling, best known for playing a teenage Superman on TV's Smallville, is stashing the superpowers for his first leading role in a movie. He's portraying a guy who is... well, afraid of weather. But don't rain on Welling's parade just yet. The atmosphere is pretty damn freaky in October's The Fog, a remake of John Carpenter's 1980 horror flick that starred Jamie Lee Curtis and leprosy-tainted zombies.

"John was amazed by some of the visual effects we were able to bring to this one," says Welling, 28. "To make the fog then, they made a miniature version of the town and used smoke machines." Next Welling will reprise his role as the oldest brother in the upcoming Cheaper by the Dozen 2. "That was kind of a horror film as well, working with all those kids," he says. "Maybe I do need to branch out."

Thanks Melly, so that makes it Monday right?

So what's Columbus Day? Is that a day off?

Yeah, its a Monday..I saw it listed somewhere, at the Manns Village Westwood. Columbus Day isn't that big of a holiday, I certainly never have it off.

Its the day Columbus landed on these shores..or something like that:)

Cool, thanks! :)

We should all keep an eye out for footage from the preem on the entertainment news mag shows... The Insider, Entertainment Tonight, E! News Daily, etc....

I got my Tivo set up to search for the keyword "Fog" so I should be able find things as long as the word "fog" makes the tivo summary....

Well, that would certainly fit in well with the Smallville shooting schedule. Not all things revolve around U.S. holidays--especially if you remember that Columbus day is Thanksgiving Day in Canada. I'll bet there aren't many Smallville crew working on Thanksgiving Day, and I'm guessing that frees Tom up for other movie stuff on your side of the border....but I'm just guessing.

That makes sense.

WBNX has video interviews w/ Tom Welling and James Marsters:
http://www.wbnx.com/shows/smlvl/smallville.htm

It's funny. Tom has talked about wanting a young Bruce Wayne on Smallville in at least three seperate occasions. You'd think the showrunners would tell Tom to not mention having Bruce Wayne on the show (trust me, these EPKs are very choreographed) unless they had something up their sleeves. I'm not saying we'll get a Bruce Wayne cameo, I just find it interesting that Welling keeps bringing up the fact that he'd like to see young Bruce on the show in all his promos for the show. I don't think it's by coincidence.

Ya think the SV producers have found a way around the Bat-embargo?

I dont know, it'd be great, but in the most recent interviews, the producers have said a definate no way to having Batman on the show, but who knows, things could definitely change in the future:)

He's spoken about it a few times, but saying that, those two interviews are the same as were on the WB58 site.

This one looked different to me. The interviews may have been conducted at the same time/room, but I think the WBNX interview may have been with a different journalist.

Either way, I just think that TPTB would've told Tom to not mention Bruce Wayne. It's not like the interviewer is the one bringing up the topic in these EPKs. In each case that I've seen, Tom is the one who says "I'd like to see a young Bruce Wayne." Again, I'm not saying it'll happen, it's just odd to me that Welling mentions it without provocation knowing that the producers have ruled out ever having a young Batman.

Hmmm. Well, I would reckon that if there IS something behind his bringing it up all the time, it's for the same reason that a few drawings by a noted artist just happened to be released last year: get people talking; assess the interest; determine if it's worth pursuing. There's many permutations of PR, and that's just one of 'em.

Pat, your smiley face is EXACTLY what I was getting at. Just didn't have access to one similar to that one. But that's pretty much my point. Tom's Bruce Wayne comments are very calculated. I can't believe he'd constantly belabor that point if it was moot.

My personal opinion, the features department may've hinted to the SV folks that using a young Bruce might be okay, granted the show portrays him in a certain way. And I think by having their star mention the possibilities in media appearances is a way for the producers to show just how much interest is out there. Remember, most mainstream entertainment reporters aren't aware of any kind of Bat embargo.

Also, the Bat embargo doesn't make any sense anymore, considering a SV Bruce Wayne would exist seperately from Batman Begins Bruce Wayne (though how badass would it be if Bale agreed to play a young Bruce on SV? He certainly looked like a teenage Bruce in the courtroom scenes). I mean if TWO Supermans can exist in seperate universes, why can't two Batmans?!

Yeah, WB58 added a few more quite recently and those were on there.

I definitely know what you were getting at, though, and I do agree. :)

(continued from Aquaman thread)

Aight, I could have gotten all crazy with this, but two panels should do the trick. I had to find images that have similar poses, camera angles, and clothing - or lack thereof LOL. I could post caps from Spell and Transference (again LOL), but Welling was *clearly* flexing in those scenes, the latter ep of which was actually written into the script (the mirror scenes.)

What people are seeing as muscle loss is probably just slightly more mass (read: fat LOL). Tom has gained a few pounds (very minor), which is smoothing out his definition. Technically, he's bigger! Look at his traps, forearms and neck.

Also gotta remember that all sorts of strange and bizarre things (LOL!) start to happen when you look at Welling in profile...

mortal2.jpg

He's all chest.

Furthermore, the actor playing Aquaman is *clearly* more cut - those shots of him pulling Lois out of the drink were quite impressive - but lookie what happens when you stand him next to Mr. W. In profile, no less...

Who's the bigger guy again?

Can we put this to bed now? ;)

Pat, as you know, there is a whole thread in the "other" forum about size/mass, and it was actually quite a polite discussion about Routh and Welling (shocking, I know). Your post explains perfectly what I didn't know how to express on that thread. Welling IS a very big guy. There are PLENTY of pictures to support this fact, including all of the ones you posted above. You also point out things that I might never have noticed, especially your refererence to the two side by side, shirtless pictures of TW. You're right. He's definitely added mass. I think he looks much better, personally. I think you can always add definition (maybe I'm wrong). I mean, Tom looks huge in those "Fog" photos, and those pictures are from just a few months ago.

Anyway, thanks for the education.

Just to play devil's advocate a little though, Pat, some of your comparisions are comparing Tom Welling Apples to Tom Welling Oranges ... erm, no euphemism intended.

AgentPat said:
The Labrat!Clark is cradled, and his shoulders etc. fall back. That has the effect of making him look slightly slimmer. Injured!Clark is fully supported and by the bed, and his already-large shoulders are pushed forward slightly ... presto chango, he looks even bigger. It doesn't make that much difference, but still. In the name of fair comparison, the fairest comparisons are definitely the ones where he's stood up and you eliminate the variables.

AgentPat said:
And that's just unfair, one of those was taken 26 months before the other! We all know he's bigger than he was then ... :p

Question is, is he much (if any) bigger than LAST year? He became a fatty over *that* summer. :( ;)
