Got this off TWOP. New Tom Welling article from zap2it.

article

I only have a problem with the part of the interview where he talks about if the tights and the flight may happen in the future and he says he knows for a fact that it won't happen and that pretty much contradicts what Gough has said. Then he says he wants SV to end with a bang as a thanks to everyone that has supported it. Well we all know what those ppl want to see happen and that is the only way to end it with a bang.

Hi, Whiteflag! :)

I really think Gough (and maybe Millar too, but it's harder to say in his case because we never hear from him anymore!) has a problem with dishonesty. It's been suggested to me before that he just tends to change his mind a lot, which would be okay -- everybody changes their mind sometimes. But years of reading interviews with him give me a very different impression: that he says whatever he thinks people want to hear in any given situation. He tells Tom no suit because Tom has said he doesn't want the suit; he tells the public there will be one because he knows they want it. So Tom proceeds on the assumption that there won't be a suit, and we proceed on the assumption that there will. And I could give other examples. I think it's more than just marketing or spin with Gough -- it's flat-out dishonesty.

Hi everyone! :)

Given the context of that sentence, maybe he doesn't want to put on the suit because it would go against what Smallville is about. He doesn't want Clark to put on the suit and become Superboy. But I assume that he'd be willing to put on the suit at the end of the series as Superman. After all, it's what everybody wants at this point.

That's what I thought he meant too, notalurkerany....

I don't think he means it's totally out of the question, just not as something we'll see until the end.

I think what Tom is talking about is the show itself changing to where he's running around in the cape all the time.

Al was talking about a clsoing scene or sequence to end the series.

On my first read of that article, that's exactly what I thought it meant as well. Good to see that most of us are on the same wave length.

Welcome Pixiedust, Welcome Whiteflag. You'll have fun here at SHH but I'll warn you, we well most of us, are very passionate about Tom Welling, so if you're okay with that then I think you'll find this a great site. ;)

Absolutely. That is exactly what both are talking about.

Welling has said time and time again that he doesn't want the suit or flying to become a part of SV because it goes against what SV is about, which is Clark Kent *before* he becomes known to the world as Superman. From Welling's *recent* interviews, it seems like he's prepared - and quite happy - to continue playing Clark Kent for a few more years. That makes me VERY happy too. :)

Now, what Gough is talking about is how they're gonna END the show. Welling has also eluded to this when he talks about Clark's decision to become "the other guy" (LOL!!) Basically, Welling knows that will happen, but he - like Gough - know that it won't be seen in SV till the very end, as it should.

Enjoy the ride folks. We could be here for a while. :D

Woohoo!! :D

I've always heard him say that for him, once he becomes Superman then the show is over. Sounds like he knows what's in store.

I hope so. But regarding the flying that's a bit debatable since in a lot of comics he is already flying way before he uses the suit. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a flight every once in a while.
And I think it's a bit stupid that they haven't adressed the fact that he flew in Crusade in any following episode even if it's just a discussion of "Gee I wonder how I did that ?"
I know that most ppl would be filled with questions if they suddenly saw themselves fly.

My gut feeling is, they'll "go there" in the 6th season (assuming there is one), if not make it part of the 5th season finale/cliffhanger. And while I definitely wouldn't expect to see outright flying ala Crusade in more than one or two episodes, I think they could do a LOT with Clark's ability to defy gravity. Of course, if the 5th season finale is IT, then we'll see flying AND the suit this season. I'm fully confident that when they say they want to go out with a bang, it's gonna be pretty damn huge.

Agreed Hulk, I'm sure Gough would not lie about that and not deliver. It just won't happen while the show is running.

BTW...welcome to the Hype guys!!!!

Welcome everybody! It's nice to see this place grow a bit =) I'm with most everybody I think he was refering to the whole superboy thing not an ending episode. I do get what people mean though and tptb should learn not to speak in such absolutes.

OMG! I'm laughing my arse off here. I just perused a site that's posted recent commentary about the FCC, freedom of speech, and general First Amendment case law as it pertains to broadcast and cable television. It appears that "Nick" was particularly pissed over new legislation that might grant the FCC more power than they already have to regulate "offensive" broadcasts. Here's an excerpt...

"This is exactly the type of nonsense the First Amendment was meant to inhibit! It is not up to the government to sanction speech and expression. It's not the government's place to decide what is "decent." What one person finds "decent" another person will always find "indecent." I know I'm offended every time I watch Smallville and Tom Welling doesn't take off his shirt. I'm also offended that he always seems to be wearing pants..."

That means he's actually conscious that he will become Superman one day :D :D :D

I found the letter online and I have just put up my first news blurb on TW.org where you can read the letter.

:D

So, cool.

I hope they do put Tom on the cover. I thanked you for the tip, btw, RakuMon, since I haven't gotten my copy yet.

I don't usually get mine until Monday.
I'm glad there's a letter about Tom's pictures though. I did wonder if there would be. Don't they pic letters to the editor by the actual percentage of similar letters they rec'd?

Nice article, trip.
