Pat, you just quoted from one of my top five episodes. That scene just leaves you in a wow state after seeing it, that whole episode does. Made my wife cry, with perfect music in the background made for one powerful scene.
It was powerful because it was identifiable on a very human level. What child *doesn't* want to be loved by their parents? It's a big part of the heart and soul of SV and IMHO, why so many fans have found personal relevance in the plight of the characters, particularly Clark. How DO you may an alien with superhuman powers relatable? Answer: show that he's just as "human" as everybody else. It's something Welling does with aplomb.

Congrates to pat on making the hype 25 for this week!
Muscles, I wish I understood you sometimes, but I admit it's more fun playing the game when you know there's a few cards missing from the deck. :p ;) :D

And if I may add, not just as human as everybody else but the more human of us all. And why ? Because his real weakness is his heart and his ability to believe in the good in people. Welling is a master in playing all this.

You are correct, Welling plays this up really well. He can pull off that look of empathy like no other actor. Reeve had it, Cain had it, and so does our modern Supes Welling. So far their casting for such an iconic character has been wonderful. That is all my opinion though.:)

This is for Pat to Test her Skills

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck
If a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could,
And chuck as much as a woodchuck would
If a woodchuck could chuck wood.

Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers.
Did Peter Piper pick a peck of pickled peppers?
If Peter Piper Picked a peck of pickled peppers,
Where's the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked?

Hmm I posted this like almost 2 weeks ago & I see Pat can NOT answer this Post so this prooves your Theory wrong KalKai & she is not always ready hehe

Earthsea, my "answer" to such a ridiculous, off-topic post is to ignore it. Comes with experience 'round these parts, and also because I simply don't have the time or motivation to respond to idiocy.

That work for ya? Moving on...

Here's a promo shot from Aqua. I added a little blue to the background for the helluvit:

That's just silliness Earthsea, grow up.:o

Just join the conversations at hand. Enjoy yourself. Live long and prosper, and all that jazz.

I read that this morning too. Post 38 recalls the conversation from the encounter. Wonderful!

The "spring break" line was in the script ...

Someone, be it Tom or whoever this person is, is making **** up.

If it is true, maybe Tom was just trying to get rid of this person. Having your quiet lunch with your wife interupted would get annoying I think.:o :)

I have to admit, the supposed quote from Tom where he complains about fans taking his pictures seemed out of place. Not that he might not actually feel that way, but that he would tell that to a fan.

Who knows? I kinda hope it is true, I like to think that he wouldn't freak out or immediately get rude when approached by a fan. I've read encounters of both varieties, and it's impossible to know which are authentic and which are just fangirl fantasies.

At this point in time, I'm pretty sure I do.

The silly girl just posted a bunch of pictures from my site over on KSite, and I only added them yesterday so they've been viewed by very few people. In fact, only one IP had viewed all of the images that she posted ... and it was located in Florida.

She said she lives in Florida and was visting CA for Xmas, even if she is making it up, she's 15 and probably needs the attention.

The thing that made me skeptical was why would he be in L.A. on Christmas day. I've heard him say in interviews that he enjoys being with his family on Christmas day. Wouldnt you spend Christmas Day at your family's homes rather than at a restaurant in L.A.

And I've been to L.A. so many times and never even come close to seeing a celebrity, one trip and she meets her dream.

I stopped reading after she said he told her a whole load of junk about the movie ... this is the same guy who won't even run his mouth in interviews. I could easily believe that she saw him, but the embellishments don't help her any.

What always amuses me is it that people who actually live in LA rarely seem to see him, but the people who visit for a day or two just happen to ...

Honestly, when you run a website like mine you get dozens of these a week and the believability factor soon takes a sharp tumble:

"I was visiting L.A. and I saw him there even though he was filming in Vancouver."

Or

"I saw him in Vancouver when I was visiting family in Chicago and he was in New England."

It's enough to drive me even more crazy.

"

That's what I was just saying, I'm in L.A. all the time, and I've never seen a celebrity. I know they are there but ....

My brother in law was recently staying at the Beverly Hilton and we spent two to three hours there with him sitting by the pool drinking and I didnt see anyone. Walked to the closest restaurant district from there and still saw no one.

I lived in the Los Angeles (the South Bay) for close to 20 years, worked in Mid Wilshire, ate lunch frequently in Beverly Hills and saw gazillions of celebrities off and on at various places from neighboring towns to Hollywood. I think it's very easy to discount encounters from people who are young and not so well spoken. But it's not out of the realm of possibilities. It happens most frequently when you are not looking for it. Case in point, take a look at Mel's 'Tom Welling encounter' at a drugstore in Hollywood of all places. I'm sure she'd recount it if anyone needs a memory boost. But in that instance, Tom did ask Mel if she watched Smallville and also what she thought of it. This 15 year old girl's encounter sounds similar to that experience, and without pictures to discount her encounter, why such negativism? The conversation came across very polite and positive. Real or fake, she was respectful to the actor, so no harm, no foul.

Exactly! I'd expect someone who lives there to see these people occasionally. But where Tom's concerned, the sightings are few in number even for the people who hang around L.A. on every day of the week. You go to L.A. for a couple of days, and just happen to see (and converse with) the one person you'd like to see more than anyone else? I'm not discounting it because she's young and wants attention: I'm discounting it because I've heard it all before. Sure, it's possible, but so is being hit by lightning ...

I don't find these claims harmless for the simple reason that I've had to read innumerable emails from some of the people who write them. It gets damn creepy VERY quickly. You found it polite, positive and respectful, but I remember the times when those nice and respectful people have sent email saying things that would very quickly change your mind ...

I've been given no reason to be positive about things like this for a long time.

just reading it here again makes me wanna tear up :)

I've been given no reason to be positive about things like this for a long time.

I lived there for 5 years, and saw celebs all the time, Tom being one of them, but people who came to visit me saw celebrities too, because they are everywhere depending on what part of the city you're in, I lived in West Hollywood, so it just happened to be an area they frequented....all I'm saying is, if you live there or not, all you need to be is in the right place at the right time.
We have no reason to believe the girl is lying or telling the truth either, we can't prove either, so I say just enjoy her story, and don't call the poor girl a liar without proof.

You're right, of course. She certainly could be telling the truth.

I'll take back my crazy smiley. ;)

I wouldn't believe you'd spoken to him if you tried to tell me that he'd gone on and on about how they filmed the scarecrow scene five times, and he nearly froze his jewels off ...

That kind of thing stretches the plausibility just a touch. You may have no reason to doubt her, but "we" includes me, and I have plenty of reasons.

Either Tom lied to her, or she's lying to everyone. Per you, I shouldn't call her a liar; but that means I have to call Tom one. The only fair option is to say they're both lying liars who lie.
