It's ironic that I always felt this picture of Tom was better than the one Alex Ross did for TV Guide...

But Tom can be drawn with soft lines too, it just depends on the drawing style...

No prob. That drawing was on the cover of Mad Magazine about two years ago. I thought about it yesterday when folks were talking about how to draw Welling. His face is quite angular with very sharp features - and as with the rest of him, looks like it was carved. ...From granite.

I like both, but they're very different styles and drawn to elicit different emotions. The Mad Magazine piece is very caricature-ish and humorous. Nevertheless, the artist nailed Welling's cheeks and protruding jaw. It's overemphasized to the max, but still conveys Welling's facial lines to a tee. I think Ross tried to capture a more accurate depiction of Welling's features, but his style is such that it's not... oh, I dunno, not quite right. Both drawings are CLEARLY Welling though - or more specifically, SV's CK.

But Tom can be drawn with soft lines too, it just depends on the drawing style...

Indeed! Routh will need a LOT more than just a muscular frame and good direction to even come close to the appeal Welling exudes in and out of character naturally. JMHO.

It made me angry that again someone said Wellingites are not real Superman fans. Whatever that is supposed to mean.

Give me a ****ing break. I've been a fan of Superman since before Tom Welling was even a gleam in his daddy's eye. I don't need some teen fanboy telling me what I am or am not...

I think what makes me most angry is the implication that somehow Welling supporters aren't as good as the rest of the Superman fandom. That's patently ridiculous.

I dunno, I didn't think Ross nailed Welling, Kreuk or Rosenbaum on the TV Guide covers. He's technically brilliant of course, but his drawings of real people have something missing. He can't quite capture the glint in the eyes and other little things like that.

Anyway, I guess I can't talk about a drawing i've done and NOT post it...

I'm fairly happy with it considering that i've had a trapped nerve in one arm for the past three years - drawing with the use of only one hand isn't so easy. This one was done about 18 months ago...

I tried to make the point that although I would have loved for TW to get the part, the problem I have is more with Routh and how things are looking than with not getting my man in the job.

So what if I, and other people, have doubts? That doesn't make us any less Superman fans than the people who don't have those doubts.

I also said that no one should beat people up over voicing their opinions just because you don't agree with them.

Or something to that effect.

Anyway, I just ran over there and peeked and I think I have a couple of posts I need to reply to...
