She's a playboy bunny turned wife of a footballer (I think) and they follow her life around.

Needless to say, it's not my cup of tea and unfortunately, that's what this new project of Tom's sounds like.

:wow:

Although, I do wish him luck.

It'll be scripted, not a reality show, which is why a former writer/producer for Desperate Housewives is involved. The original book was non-fiction, so I believe the statement about this sort of thing being like a 'soap opera' says it all...

Looking at Kevin Murphy's IMDB page shows that he also produced for Reaper. He also produced for Valentine last year, which might be a better indicator of why he's developing a concept like this: teen girls in skimpy outfits with probably lots of back-stabbing soap operish storylines. It's right up Dawn Ostroff's alley.

I'm not sure I'd watch this at all otherwise, but with Tom Welling involved, I'll probably at least give the Pilot a try.

If you read the author's website about her and what the book's really about, it actually sounds very interesting. It appears to have gotten great reviews from some pretty impressive sources. Once description was "the Friday Night Lights of cheerleading." I love that.

I think it could be wonderfully ground-breaking, enlightening, and stereotype smashing, IF it's done well. My concern would be what will actually end up on the screen after it gets CW-ized.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Dawn Ostroff will likely turn it into yet another soap opera and wring out anything uniquely compelling about it.

I think that's what happened to Ashton Kutcher's The Beautiful People. It had an intriguing premise but the stories were largely bland and didn't take full advantage of the unique environment.

It didn't help that the actors were bland too...

Hopefully, Tom's smart enough to know that actors aren't interchangeable. It takes the right people cast in the right parts with good writing and interesting stories to make for a compelling series.

yea i will be curious to see what he does with this and his other producers/his production company. Its nice to see he really is branching out to other areas of television. So when smallville ends be it this season or if they get a 10th one. He has work lined up. Its nice to hear its not going to be a stupid reality show like i was thinking it was. Will i watch it i dont know. I am not really into those girlie types of shows since i am a guy.

Just wondering are TW'S eyes blue or green?

They're green.

They sometimes look blue in the show with help either from visual effects or lighting. Whenever they look blue in pictures it's usually because they'd been photoshopped.

was just reading that. i wish tom the best of luck with his production company with this show. Will have to see if it goes to series or not. Plus how much on hand work he will do with the show. Since we know smallville is pretty much a lock for 10th season.

maybe he will direct an episode or two since it seems he likes to do behind the scenes work.

yea i figure at most he will probably direct and episode or two if it falls during time he is on breaks for smallville. Then will probably just be the guy who gives the ok on things. Plus if the show is shot in the states it would probably be hard for him to have any more hands on dealing with the show. Unless its also shot in canada area. Though he already works like 16+hr days for smallville acting and now producing the show. I do think he probably wont be doing much day to day work for the show if it goes to series that is.

thats cool, they are on break for the two weeks of the winter games.

Yea that would be cool, and i am sure the show is more then likely going to be picked up. They are probably just as others have brought up finalizing deals for actors pay, episode count, season budget, and probably officially marking it as THE FINAL SEASON. I could see them announcing it any time in the following week after episode 15. Since production would be back on, and we will then be in a month break. So it would probably be great time then.
