Once again Serene, a screencap from season 7. A season we can all agree on, that he was at his biggest & most defined. Naturally he's gonna look good. Now look at the shirtless season 10 pic. He's still a big guy because Tom Welling is just a naturally big guy, but there is no cut or definition like he had in previous seasons.

there's zero definition there. As I said, Tom is a big guy, no matter what screencap you grab, you'll see Tom is a big guy, he just simply has no definition anymore, that screencap proves it. Also he's in good lighting that emphasises shadow.

You're seeing what you want to see.

Yeah, the second cap has a higher contrast ratio and that helps emphasize things that the very flatly lit scene in the top cap doesn't show because it has no shadows and the light is indirect and even.

You point out the bottom cap to prove your point, but the top cap proves mine: it's the lighting and how the shots are photographed more than Tom just being 'lazy' or out of shape.

Another thing to keep in mind with the scene where he's chained in the baseement was shot with a modest fish eye lens, like the scenes of Tess before it running away from Granny.

It skews the perspective and I think it contributed to why Tom looked thinner than in the very next scene filmed on the very same location the same day, or within a day, of the first one.

No, again he's not as 'cut' as he used to be, but with his insane schedule he's probably lucky he gets any excercise at all. He's not fat or flabby unless all of you guys have mild cases of body dysmorphic disorder and think anymore with more than 12% body fat is flabby.

ive got to say i am a little bored hearing about how tom is out of shape right now.

yes under light he looks flat but tom is a pale guyand that is normal. Under lighting that shows shadow he looks ok yes not as good as previous but, I truly believe that by the time we see him don the costume he will be in his best shape, its often referred to that tom keeps himself in shape.

Yea and its likely due to his expanded role now. He isn't bad at all. Sure could be better and if he gets the time would be great if he can.

To be honest, opinions will always differ.

I weigh so much that I would be perfectly healthy at 8 foot 6 inches. (That's how tall Darkseid is, by the way)

All that aside, Mike, that picture I posted of Superman, my question is still valid, is that what you think of when you think of Superman?


Christopher Reeve, George Reeves, Dean Cain, Tom Welling, they all pulled off Superman.
And the Kirk guy, whatever his name was.

But yeah, they pulled off Superman well, so even if Tom Welling hasn't worked out for awhile, he's still fine.

I really can't see anything wrong with him. He's good at looking like Superman.
Now if only he'd wear the suit soonish.

I wouldn't get bogged down too much in the fact a shot with alot of direct light on him doesn't flatter his physique.. typically it wouldn't flatter even the most ripped of men.

Gerard Butler in a 300:

It has to be said that Law Abiding Citizan was released 3 years after 300, but still if you look at any of the movies in between Butler still stayed in good shape & looked pretty cut.

Anyway, you can see with alot of direct light his physique looks alot less definitive than it has not only in 300, but Gamer & all those other films in between.. which is the same as that Welling shot.

Welling hasn't had a really ripped six pack since about season 2 when he was basically still in modelling shape, but even with his size increase hes maintained his stomach to the point when hes pictured in a relaxed shot like the one above you can still see the middle separation & outline of his abs, which you can see in the light heavy shot above.

As I said don't get bogged down in it too much, he isn't out of shape by any means but it does look like he has let his overall size drop down a little.. not by much though, he still looks pretty big in that second shot. ^^

Same thing happened on a thread on K-Site too. People were arguing over Tom's weight/height and toughness.
Haven't checked K-Site's forum in a while though. I prefer to keep the remainder of my sanity.

That said, I wouldn't want to run into Tom in a dark alley. Or on PCP.

Tom Welling is a good Superman.

Also, Webhead, I know this isn't the Erica Durance thread, but Erica said she was topless first in Uwe Boll's House of the Dead.

The film was directed by Uwe Boll. This film featured Erica Durance in one of her earliest roles before she became known for playing Lois Lane on Smallville.

According to her interview with Howard Stern, Her enhancement was when she was 19. She is 32 now. She filmed House of the Dead in 2003. 7 years ago.

If you have a movie where she's naked from before she was augmented, I'd like to know how.
Maybe she was augmented twice.
Or maybe you have home made movies of her. Do you know her first husband?

Also, On the Sci-Fi Channel, she played an intergalactic librarian in Andromeda and a love interest for Teal'c in Stargate SG-1.

Since she knows Christopher Judge, it really shouldn't be hard to get him on Smallville.
Either as Black Adam, seriously, he could easily pull him off, or the basis of Darkseid.
