I knew Ned Beatty's son in collge (Charlie, heckuva nice guy and looked a lot like his dad) and he said that being related to his dad was great.

When he'd visit Ned he'd sometimes have friends over, like Burt Reynolds and guys like that, and Charlie said those times were always entertaining... I don't think Charlie ever got any celeb type craziness, however.

He was very down to earth and laid back but maybe that's because he was raised by his mother in Virginia and not in Hollywood by his dad. (His parents divorced when his was a kid...)

Charlie was a lighting design major, I think (may have been technical direction), at Virginia Commonwealth University when I was there...

Well, my mistake. I guess fame has its perks after all...

Well, I did get the impression that Charlie was tired of all the stupid freshman, me included, asking him questions about his dad and all the famous people he knew...

He answered my questions I think because I was pretty damn cute when I was a college freshman. ;)

He was kinda cute too, in a cuddly teddy bear sorta way.

But nothing ever happened between him and me, alas....

You're a girl?

...or gay?

Just curious. Honestly didn't know for either way.

Neither. I'm all woman.... ;)

In her interview in the last SV magazine, AO talked about him possibly trying his hand at directing.
You know I picked that issue up right before the new one came out and just read that article on her.

She seems ultra cool, as does her hubby Michael McKean. They sound like they are still deeply in love after five years of marriage, that's saying something I think.

Both his interview and that article on her were very good. The Durance aritcle was also good.

In the new issue #3, I read the Kenneth Biller article and that was very englightening, especially with how he filmed Suspect...

Also important to note:

It seems that whenever anyone talks about Tom they have nothing but nice things to say about him, about how kind he is and how well grounded and how smart he is... etc.

I can't wait for the next issue, which claims to have a new interview with him and he will be the cover.

They lie. I have it on good authority that he's really a complete pig. ;)

Likely story...
No, truly he is a pig. He oinks on the set and rolls about in the mud. The reason he uses a butt double is that he has a curly little tail.

LOL!

You'd just like to have him in a mud wrestling contest, wouldn't you?

One says bored, the other says mud wrestling ... how can I possibly correlate those two things? Mud wrestling is never boring.

I think Tom would look cute with a curly tail...

I think it would depend on who's doing the wrestling... But I would think watching Tom in a mud wrestling contest would not be boring at all. ;)

I dunno 'bout that one...

And afterwards we have to watch him washing the mud off. It's only fair.

What if you get to pull his tail and make him squeak?

I don't think we should venture any further down the road of this analogy. It could descend really quick...

Soooo yeah, pretend Smallville was over (ended nicely and we even get to see him in the suit--I can dream, this is my post :) ), and now Tom is going on to even bigger things in his career. Which role would you like to see him play? (Use your imagination, it doesn't have to be anything in production.) How about David in Anne Rice's "Tale of the Body Thief" or, maybe he could do "Jekyll and Hyde" on Broadway... or, or...Logan's Run is already cast, right?
Bear with me, I'm just trying to change the subject away from pigs, pork, and mud wrestling :)

I was talking about an *actual* tail. I use my cat's tail like a leash sometimes, holding it so he can't run away... he actually doesn't mind, but then he's weird.

I could be bad and say a remake of "Ghost" with Tom covered with clay. Instead I will say a remake of "The Shining." Tom can really do whacked out and scary.

You have to be fair, right? And you'd volunteer to hold the soap for him, wouldn't ya? (wouldn't we all? he he he ;) :D )

I still dunno 'bout that....

I've got a script I'm penning that I'd love to see him in, but it's not done yet so I don't want to talk about it.

Just suffice it to say that the lead needs movie star good looks, be athletic and have excellent acting skills and Tom has that covered.

That would be my dream...

Other than that, I'm not sure.

Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

Agreed.

Er..James? Sweetie... I'm pretty sure that's *not* a tail.

Okay, if you insist. :)

Too bad Logan's Run is already cast, I would love to see him take the lead in that.. or maybe, if not the lead, then as the friend/bad guy whose name I can't remember. I saw that film a trillion or so years ago at the theater and thought it was totally cool. I can't wait to see a remake with modern special f/x.

The other role I wouldn't mind see TW do is Jean-Claude in Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series. I've read them all, and honestly dislike several of them, but the first one would make a good film. TW as a sexy vamp/good guy would be fun to see.

A romantic comedy would be a nice fit as well.. I think he would really shine in a role like that.

I wouldn't want to pull it hard enough to make him squeak either... (I can't believe I said that...)

lol pure silliness. I wanted to see him as Alexander but nope Colin Farell (Sp?) The reviews say he wasn't larger than life enough. I think Tom would have been. Has anyone heard anymore about his brother and that movie? I am so curious and I can't find it on DTS
