Still pissed off we have Cbtdozen2 or him as Superman, GOSH I HATE YOU WB :D
Look at the bright side, Muscles. Welling not being cast in Singerman means more SV - or at least the potential for more SV. If he were cast in the film, not only is it likely that SV's 4th season would have prematurely been shortened this year, but it would definitely have been the last. On top of everything, those involved with Singerman (and sequels) are locked-in for a good two to three years minimum. While I'd still love to see Welling play Supes in another film or even in a SV type spin off, at least he is free to do whatever his little heart desires now. In the long run, this might have been the wisest career move - assuming it was his choice to begin with. Of course, that's another discussion entirely.

Bottom line: I'm happy for him. He's a smart cookie and he has quite a career in front of him. I think he's off to a great start! :)

As always, an excellent post!

I believe someone said as much over six months ago. I'm having trouble remembering who that could have been, though.

Oh shush, James. LOL There's no way of knowing one way or the other, but I think he'll get more work this way given his attitude and ever growing Q. He's already got the cult following, so if he plays his cards right, he can parlay his experience, contacts and established image into something huge. Most other actors aren't nearly as lucky. I'm just glad to see things starting to pay off for Tom. He's proven that he can successfully lead a network television show. Next step is to do it in films. And I know he can do it too because I have faith in *his* abilities, not some director's that will give him a pass because of a subjective resemblance to an iconic character or portrayal.

You're not excited about him doing The Fog? I think it's a great move on his part.

He gets a lead in a film that will lens in his hometown and John Carpenter is involved... What could be better?

.

I thought Tom was from NY and lives in LA?

He IS from NY. Matter o' fact, I lived pretty dern close to him when *I* was growing up as I'm from NY too. He probably maintains a residence in LA for tax purposes. But right now, he's actually "living" in Vancouver. Lots of actors maintain various residences when working out of state - or in his case, out of the country. Just makes things easier.

What Pat said. I don't know about a house in LA, but I know he lives in Vancouver year 'round, unlike some other members of the cast.

John Glover lives in Maryland, but has a house in Vancouver.

Annette O'Toole splits her time between houses in New York, LA and Vancouver... I forget where John Schneider lives when not filming, I think he lives in LA and had said something about only flying up when he's needed to shoot his scenes... So, it doesn't sound like he keeps a house up there.

Both Erica and Kristin live in Vancouver, they're from Canada of course, and I think Allison splits her time between Vancouver and LA..

I'm not sure I've ever heard where Rosenbaum lives.

Ding ding, the winner is... ;)

See now, all of our little spats in which you were adamant that Tom should be in the Supes movie. This is exactly why I disgreed (or at least one of a few reasons, anyway) with you. And now we're seeing eye to eye. It's lovely to have peace and harmony. :D

 LOL, take it from someone who lived in CA for 3+ years, NO ONE lives in CA for tax purposes. It's one of the worst states for taxes in the country.... Buncha socialist bastards! Florida is where you wanna go for that

But that wish was a desire of mine as a fan and an argument of why it would be better for the producers to cast him verses some other no-name schmo. How it would effect HIM is tough for any of us to say, though I think Tom could make a great career out of whatever he chose. Not doing Singerman just means he has more options in the short term because he won't be "owned" for the next 2-3 years. Oh, and it means more SV. :D

This is exactly why I disagreed (or at least one of a few reasons, anyway) with you.
I think we all had various reasons as fans for what we'd like to see happen - or not, as it were. But like I said, the only person who could really judge what option was better for HIM would be Tom and his mgmt. But as fans, the heart wants what the heart wants. We can make a case to support our desires using whatever logic that tickles our fancy.

And now we're seeing eye to eye.
Well, I STILL would like to see him play Superman for real in a film or continuation of SV. But not in Singerman. There's way too much about that production that scares me. For now though, Tom is my Superman. He sits high and mighty on that thrown, and DWSNBN ain't gonna come close to changing that feeling. He certainly won't be inspiring me the way Tom has. As I once said, that kind of devotion is earned, not granted by casting proxy.

It's lovely to have peace and harmony. :D
Indeed! But you and I never had issues, James.

He'd be one helluva busy bee to do all three this year.

Variety still lists SV as wrapping on April 13th. Darkhorizons lists TF's filming dates to be March 14th thru May 16th at Lion's Gate Film Studios, Vancouver. With only two months of principle on TF, I'm guessing there will have to be a little creative shuffling of their lead between SV and TF sets. ;)

And then SV picks back up again in July for S5, right? CBtD2 is possible IF it's shot after mid May and before July. Yikes. Welcome to the party, Tom. Get your sleep now, 'cause you aint gonna see much of it for a while. LOL

Damn.. I hope he has time for LOTS of promotional appearances. It sounds like he might have a lot to promote.

But he went to high school in Michigan. Here's a small world story... One of my friends at work (also SV fan) is from Michigan. She was on the phone the other day and yelled over to me that her friend on the phone was just starting a student-teaching stint at Tom's old high school. She told the friend to ask around the older teachers about him and get back to us with the dirt. ;)

Someone should ask golfh and miller about a continuation series with welling in tights in the future

I posted the following over at DTS earlier. I figured folks here might be interested in the number crunching as well...

The Fog is skedded for wide release, which, depending upon who you ask, generally defines films released on 500(ish) or more screens. Now, it *could* go as high as 2500 or even 3000. Depends on how much confidence the distribs (Sony/Revolution) have and what the P&A budget is. I'm gonna take a stab and say it's probably about 1/2 the production budget, which is $18M.

As of right NOW, there are no other wide releases skedded for the Oct 14th weekend. This is GOOD!! That means there won't be any competition at the B.O.

So, what are we looking at here? Well, take Constantine as an example. It opened on 3006 screens this past weekend and averaged $11,185 per engagement. That means it raked in a cool $33.6 million dollars in just three days! If The Fog does about HALF that on its opening weekend, it will be considered a tremendous success just because it will have recouped its entire production budget in one weekend.

Aint gonna do what Constantine did, you say? Well, you're probably right. So lets look at another film within the same genre. Boogeyman (PG-13) was released on 3,052 screens on Feb 4 and had a $20M prod budget. It made $8M on Friday, $8.4M on Saturday, and $2.5M on Sunday, for a grand total that weekend of $19M. The studio - Sony/Screen Gems - must have been dancing in the streets. As of Tuesday, it had $42M in the bank, and this was *after* taking 40% declines on two subsequent weekends after release.

If The Fog pulls something out of left field (such things really cant be predicted, but every studio hopes for another My Big Fat Greek Wedding), and manages to rake in over $50M in the first three weeks of release, Tom can write his own ticket. It will be very interesting to see what happens come October. I'll be watching closely. ;)

Hey I signed up for DTS today only made one post though. I'm at so many boards for Smallville and Superman as is. Though I think I may refuse to ever again post in the K-Site forums. I love the job Craig does with the site and the news and spoilers are great, but damn do those forums suck. Bunch of people who have ZERO comic knowledge and theyve all got the attention spans of my cat, and constantly rip the show for "screwing up" on things that they miss or dont understand. Very frustrating place to visit anymore

I don't cruise the boards over there at all anymore... it's pointless and frustrating.

yeah I'm contemplating just posting a "Chloe Sucks" thread or one that says "Your opinion doesnt mean crap" so they ban me and I cant further punish myself :p ;)

Ooooh... That's a great idea. If you do it, let me know and I'll have to come watch the mayhem that ensues!

Heee!

I think K-Site and DTS both do a great job as fan information sites. I don't post at K-Site, but I do skim the news and spoilers there on a regular basis. DTS has a really nice TW forum, lots of requisite gushing :), but all for a very worthy cause.

As far as SV/Supes forums, I only post here and at the Planet. And there, I avoid the Singerman threads..I'm past wanting to argue about it. I enjoy gabbing about other stuff though. You may have noticed, I can be a bit of a gabber. :)
