Dark of the Moon The Official Transformers 3 News And Speculation Thread - Part 2

21M on Thursday. What a sad statement on what the American cinema viewing public will find acceptable. I just hope that this thing fails to make 300M.

:whatever::whatever:Its going to be make 300 million . The only film that could possibly beat it is Harry Potter and I doubt it , but please fel free to pack your bags and move to Europe if you are disgusted by the taste of us Americans...:awesome:

The general public aren't as anal about this franchise as the people on these boards...

Lol. You're talking about it being sad and yet here you are giving Transformers 3 the time of day again. A movie that you hate. Wouldn't it be smart and rational if you stopped talking about the threequel altogether? A threequel that you despise.:whatever::awesome:

You're sort of a closeted masochistic, aren't you?

To be fair, the movie made $37 million on opening day. ON OPENING DAY. Secondly, the movie was originally suppose to be released on July 1st.

It's a fun popcorn flick, nothing else. Get over it.

He can't, it's as clear as day that he will not stop pushing his agenda until he has seen the result that he want's really really really really really really badly. :o

Because we're the only people on Earth that like these types of flicks, right?

You people have officially lost any right to complain about Twilight Justin Beiber, Ke$ha, Scientology and other things by liking these movies. It's all bottom of barrel, doesn't matter whether it's books or movies

However, I will admit that Dark Of The Moon was better than the first two.

I'll never understand why people who despise this film series feel the need to start condescending to those who enjoyed them.

I thought part I was great.

Part II was absolute garbage.

Part III wasn't the best but it did just enough to redeem the last movie.

And this is coming from someone who has a very vague understanding of Transformers. Aside from the basics, I don't know **** about the mythology.

The movies (FOR ME) are dumb, mindless entertainment. And I like them.

...except Part II. There was nothing entertaining about that.

Because audiences laugh, cheer, clap and hoot at Shia LaBeof being pushed against by a bathroom stall by a guy going, "Deep Wang! Deep Wang!"
And this is more of a juvenile comedy movie and the title characters are missing for more than half of the movie. Micheal Bay has no idea what kind of tone/movie he wants. His comedy is out of place, like a serious scene shows Shia being captured by Decepticons an putting a device on him and it's a serious scene. Suddenly, next scene he's dying slapstick thanks to the device

Imagine if Rachel's death in Dark Knight was followed by Bruce and Alfred joking around.
And this has nothing to do with quality. It's called consistency.

Not to mention I feel that Bay considers the Transformers an annoyance and would rather have a movie about the military saving the world.

Ken Jeong was a waste of space in this movie...having said that, his 5 minutes of screentime didn't ruin the movie for me.

Unlike the twins in ROTF.

The problem is that their's not just one Ken Jeong. There's 10 different comic relief characters who don't actually provide relief. The last 90 minutes are much better than the rest but again it's more army porn than robots.

At the end of the day, if you watch the original Transformers movie with Unicron, Prime, Hot Rod etc, that cartoon is much darker in tone than all of these movies. In fact, if you simply remade the cartoon into a movie, it would be fantastic. It's by far and away the best of them all. It has virtually no comic relief aside from Grimlock and the Dinobots getting silly once or twice. I mean, even the start when Hot Rod says, "There's a hole in the shuttle!" He just opens up on it. War mentality.

Even better, there was no sign of the United States Armed forces in it at all. I have nothing against the Military. I used to be in the Navy. If I want to watch a movie about the Armed forces, I'll watch Saving Private Ryan or Platoon. I couldn't care less for watching the US Army in Transformers. It really gets on my nerves sometimes. The comic relief too. This is a movie about a war... Between 2 sets of robots.

I'm glad that we got 3 movies about the Transformers.... But above all they could have been so much better. Kids dont need to have all that stupid ott humour... they have 60 foot robots to entertain them.

Good post AnorexicBatman! :woot:

I still don't understand why he isn't directing G.I. Joe. That would be the perfect franchise for him.

Apparently the movie has made $98M from the US box office alone in the first 4 days

After seeing it again(I see my films for free, thanks to my college roommate being the GM at the theater, I wouldn't pay twice for this), I have to say the Autobots lack of screen time is a MUCH bigger issue in DOTM then the first two. And when my favorite character(Megatron) is in it like 5 minutes, its a little disappointing. The writing, acting, and editing are all pretty terrible, BUT I still enjoy the heck out of it. I would never sit here and try and say these are very good movies, they aren't. I understand why people don't like them. I also understand why people DO like them. They are entertaining. DUMB, but entertaining.
