What legal reasons?![]()
Hasbro doesn't own the rights to 'Hot Rod'. They didn't own the names 'Jazz' or 'Ratchet' either. That's why the names of the toys were 'Autobot Jazz' and 'Autobot Ratchet'. I guess that applies to Hot Rod too. If they want to use him in the movie, they'd just have to name the toy 'Autobot Hot Rod'. I hope that's the case, as I really want him in the movie. He's too big a character not to be.
I'm sure someone will correct if I'm wrong, but I think that Hasbro has to give the go ahead for what names they can use in the movies.
