Hasbro apparently is all about the money. Mirage isn't a very big name TF like Megatron Prime or SS, so they probably felt they could use the name on any old bot that Bay drew up, and no one would care...well, they are wrong.

@ Avangarde - Italian accent. Oh, boy..........

What's wrong with that? They already have American, English and German accents. Why not Italian? Give 1 an Aussie accent while they're at it.

I don't mind it myself, but it depends on the execution of how Mirage sounds like, I don't want it to sounds too stereotypical or it coming across hokey.

The Italian accent is cool. As lon as it doesn't sound stereotypical it could work.

I thought I read somewhere that the company Ferrari has to approve the voice for the car.

Anyway, I hope that the voice doesn't sounds cheesy or anything like that.

Ferrari is going to get to choose the type of voice. I doubt they want to turn him into a walking stereotype caricature. If he does have an accent expect one that doesn't relish in "DATS AH GOODA MEATBALLA" type of foolery.

Soundwave is not the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG says Michael Bay.

Mercedes would never let us make their car into a bad Decepticon. Car company's really frown on that - I can't say what the game company and comics do that's their own thing. They don't have the same constraints movies do. It's Carly's car.

I don't believe Bay. That shot of Soundwave in the video game trailer and his appearance in 'Rising Storm' #2 suggest that he's the SLS.

The silver bot in the video game trailer does look Soundwave, especially on that shot where he eject Laserbeak but isn't he a SUV in the game? It's possible what Soundwave's alt mode could be have to be change now that Mercedes knows that Soundwave is evil since what Bay wrote could be imply that it's the Mercedes SLS in the comics and video game but not for the movie perhaps.

I think Bay would've given them a basic idea of who Soundwave was and him being a Decepticon early on. I think he just understandably wants to keep that plot point underwraps and have it be a twist in the movie that Soundwave has been disguised as Carly's car.

I'm not crazy about him possibly being the SLS due to its small size, but the robot mode design is pretty good if he looks like that in the film.

God does he look thin in that comic, I really wish he wasn't the Mercedes SLS but it's more and more likely. I don't see why Mercedes would have a problem with a bot that's evil turning into one of their car when Audi had the same thing with Sideways in Rotf and they're fine with it.

I don't mind either way. 'Bot just needs an alt mode that doesn't keep him floating around in space for all his screen time.

Italian is fine, but in Bay-verse that'll usually mean he'll end up sounding like Joe Pesci and someone out of the Sopranos. I'd prefer an African accent myself. Mirage's G1 face looked very Egyptian. I would have preferred that route...
