Revenge of the Fallen The official Transformers:Revenge Of The Fallen movie critics review thread

I don't think that the bad reviews will effect the boxoffice one bit. If the audience doesn't like the flick they well jump ship after it's opening weekend...even though it's second weekend is a holiday.

Terminator Salvation did mediocre business on Memorial Day weekend.

Granted Terminator has nowhere near the influence or popularity of Transformers. But you had that feud with McG and Bay.

Yep a holiday weekend doesn't help your movie much if people don't want to see it or like it.

People liked the first movie so I wouldn't be surprised if they liked this one too. The average filmgoer often splits with critics.

I think I can sum up the concensus.

Big, loud, and stupid is no way to go through life, son.

wow...this movie is taking a pummeling from the critics! I seem to remember a considerable amount of bashing from critics on the first one....then it turned into a powerhouse at the boxoffice and a lot of them changed their minds...but I don't think they're giving it a pass this time.

I think we're probably looking at a SM3-type scenario, box office-wise due to the WOM. It'll still make bank but it'll also be frontloaded as hell.

If so, that would make the only clear fanboy-geek movie winner this summer Star Trek. And possibly G.I. Joe if it turns out to actually be better than this. Sommers could be the savior. :o

Besides Star Trek Up and Hangover and maybe Harry Potter, this looks like an awful summer. So much freaking ****.

We really could have used Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, or Princess and the Frog this summer.

This fall/winter is going to be amazing. The Road, Avatar, Sherlock Holmes, Zombieland, District 9, Shutter Island, and Where the Wild Things Are.

Ah the fruits of the writer's strike(and threatened actor's strike) are ripening on the vine as we speak.

A very, very, very remote possibility.

re-reading the Transformers 1 reviews on RT...its all the same stuff many critics said before...pretty funny...it'll be critic proof with the public.

GI Joe is not going to be some huge hit, It's not going to be saving anything. It's probably going to do a little over 100mil and have terrible reviews and word of mouth.

RT Score:27% Fresh:23 Rotten:62

Consensus: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a noisy, underplotted, and overlong special effects extravaganza that lacks a human touch.

I'm waiting for Devin's review, it should be hilarious.

I'm not a huge fan of his disposition but oddly enough I agree with him more times than not.

The first Transformers review was one of the many times I disagreed with him.

I'm such a nice Aunt that I actually called into a radio station to try to win tickets for my nephews.

We won't get any kind of indication of genuine WOM until after Wednesday. These reviews mean nothing in the long run if the public adores the film as much as they did the first one.

Just looking around my own general network of friends, I know people who are rushing to the midnight premiere of this movie who aren't even real movie buffs. This is the first legit event film since The Dark Knight. And I don't think any of these reviews from critics, or from the internet diehards, is going to translate.

I have liked films critics hated so I could care less. I need a movie that I can shut my brain off and oogle at fighting robots and hot ladies every once in a while.

Most of these critics are *****es.They tend to bash anything that's not Schindler's List or Titanic. One thing to remember is that this movie franchise is based on a Saturday morning cartoon show after all an ACTION cartoon. So this movie is supposed have alot of in your face bots kicking each others arse. It's not nor will it ever be some melodramatic, compelling chick-flick.You're not going to see Optimus and Megatron kiss and make up and give some lame monologue about how we should all put out differences aside and come together as one robotic race.Critics need to stop *****in and take this movie for what is-A fun summer action flick.

Metacritic is better as a review site (doesn't include all those www.jimboblovesmovies.com reviewers). Still TF2 is @ 40% - generally mixed reviews. I think most reviewers gave the first TF a pass on it's mistakes and now are blasting TF2 for the very same things once overlooked.

Review sites are good for a general idea of what to expect, but I think you have to make the decision for yourself, not taint your experience by "trusting" what critics say. I know I have plenty of movies that I love that critics don't. Just my $0.02.

Edit: I really hope that isn't a real website. Sorry if it is.
