The Official Twisted Metal Thread

Rogue trip was easily one of my fav PS1 games  The soundtrack was ace

Yeah Twisted Metal 3 and 4 sucked, bc the developers from the first 2 did not work on it. Sony gave it to the now defunct 989 studios which ruined it.

Did anyone play Rogue Trip: Vcatio 2012? It was Twisted Metal 2's spiritial successor and made by Singletrac, using the TM2 engine. I really loved this game as well and Im surprised it never got a sequel

Man... stop hating on TM3. It was a great game. TM 4 was horrible though.

[YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpeXOh65SD8[/YT] God... the intro is awesome! Hated flower power.

I was always outlaw... loved the cop car.

We also played Vigilante 8

Twisted Metal 3 was dreadful. The game was a major downgrade coming from the awesomeness that was TM2. They changed the physics so that the cars did not control the same and didnt feel nearly as fun as before. The levels were much smaller, very generic and lacked the design that made the others fun to race through. It also didnt add anythnig significant to the gameplay to progress the series forward. It was overall a very disappointing series. Theres a reason why it has the lowest Gameranking score of all the TM games at 48%. I rememebr TM4 being slightly better but not by much

I tried Vigilante 8, but could never get into it. It lacked the humor and fun that TM and Rogue Trip had. It went for a more realistic approach, like with its physics, which I didnt care for either. The game was well made, but wasnt for me

SDCC 10: Twisted Metal on Story, 3D and PlayStation Move

David Jaffe sets the record straight.

July 23, 2010

Didn't get enough of Twisted Metal at E3? Well, Comic-Con has you covered. Twisted Metal overlord and Eat Sleep Play founder David Jaffe led a panel on the upcoming car-combat game and dished details on a whole bunch of Sony stuff.

For starters, Twisted Metal will not support PlayStation Move or 3D. The announcement came after a question from the office and curt Jaffe answer of "no." The statement was followed by audience applause.

Jaffe also revealed a bunch of story details for the game. In the single-player campaign, gamers will choose to play as Mr. Grim, Dollface or Sweetooth, and that story will give you a glimpse at what made the character into the monster you'll soon know. This tale will be told by live action cutscenes. Each story will have three difficulties and each of those will have its own ending – so look for nine different single-player finales.

The team also showed a new level called "Rooftops." The name pretty much gives you an idea of what to expect. It's a nighttime level with neon signs all over the place and a ton of ramps. There's a monument in the center of the level along with a bit of a clearing; the setup is angled so that you're always focused on the main battlefield that's actually spinning. There are even a couple of atriums to crash through.

Finally, the game supports local two-player and four-player split-screen as well as split-screen online.

I am so ready for this game, been waiting for years!! I've had a twisted metal game for all of my sony consoles and now its time to have it for my PS3.

Next year is shaping up nicely for games I must say!

Darn right. I was a huuuuuge fan of Twisted Metal World Tour, then again with Black. Need my PS3 fix!

I was a fan of Rouge Trip. Very fun game, had some interesting easter eggs in it from what I remember. Good music too. I found it at a pawn shop about a year ago and meant to play it again but hardly did because of lack of a PS1 memory card.

The great thing for about Twisted Metal 1 & 2 for me was launching my car all over the place. Launching over a enemy and use the special(I was always Outlaw).

Mr. Slam from Twisted Metal 2 had one of the most gruesome specials done upon faster cars.

Rogue Trip had a awesome soundtrack. I also loved how you could blow up the earth and the moon and glide through space.

Vigilante 1 & 2 were fun, but didn't have as high of a replay value as TM for me.

Twisted Metal Black is one of my favourite games of all time. And I'd really love to play Twisted Metal 2011 but I'm not gonna get a PS3 for one game. It just saddens me that exclusives are so rare and yet the exclusives are always games I really want to play. Looking at you inFAMOUS. Thankfully I didn't enjoy you a whole lot when I finally got to try you.

Sweet I kinda expected it to be delayed till 2012, but I'm not complaining.

buying this day one, no doubts about that. now thats its been given a release date i wonder what kind of exclusives gamestop plans on giving to this game. i would love to see the cars from tm2 be made available for the returning cars from that game to play as. classic sweet tooth would be pretty cool to see.
besides that im loving the way this game looks so far. what im pleasantly surprised about is that the developers are at least not just giving us the same old cars weve been seeing for years now and just getting better graphics. i always envisioned playing a twisted metal game and there just being so much incredible detail to everything around me, from the explosions to paper in the wind, to tiny bullet holes that i shot, things like that. but besides that, the new vehicles are looking great, especially the cool additions to special weapons. steering a guy on a gurney or a remote controlled missile in the air? fantastic ideas. great way to make the weapons more fun instead of just shooting them.

lets see, what cars do we have so far? sweet tooth, junkyard dog, axel, reaper, roadboat, death warrant, vermin, meat wagon, talon, i think spectre... im hoping we get more than 14 cars. i thought i saw shadows hearse somewhere in pics and im sure minion will return somehow. david jaffe confirmed in an interview too that there are other air vehicles that havent been revealed yet so its nice to kno it wont just be the helicopter. id imagine we get alt least 2 of every sort of vehicle class ranging from small to huge

This game can't come any sooner!!! I'm buying this day 1!!!!

The psuedo-live action stuff is kinda eh, but the trailer overall is pretty awesome. Not sure how the new flying mech thing is going to work, but the trailer was pretty cool. Looks like there might be some kind of story connection between Sweet Tooth and Babydoll (unless this is purely meant for the trailer, that is). I wonder if Iron Maiden is something that the truck just turns into like Sweet Tooth's car, seems way bigger.

Well, I guess we won't, apparently this is from Jaffe's twitter thingy:

Just to be clear: not all vehicles transform and fly in the new Twisted Metal. Just Sweet Tooth.

i think it's a smart move with the overcrowded game season i wouldn't have expected the game to sell to well.

It was supposed to come out on my birthday :(

No beta for us.

We are doing internal beta now for Twisted. No public one however. We are using beta to test tuning and XP rank up speed and such. Not looking to release what many folks call a beta now (aka a demo…altho some betas also serve as much needed stress tests) cause the market as such that I feel many MP beta/demos actually hurt sales in many cases.

Sadly, I have to agree with him. Way too many people seem to not know difference between a Beta and a Demo. This is day one for me anyways.

Thats pretty cool as Ive long since sold mine. It was the first PS2 game I purchased and THE reason why I got a PS2 when I did. I love this new trend of publishers offering old games with first run purchases. I only wish this one was on the disc though

BTW, love the boxart
