I think - Dr.Nathaniel Essex - techically he isnt a mutant but he did mutate himself.

Marvel had better secure the copyright to the name/character first.. they messed up with the Whistler character in the Blade films-- David Goyer created the character from scratch, and so when the New Line bought the script, New Line Cinema technically owns him, and they threatened to sue Marvel when the character was used in the 90s Spider-Man cartoon show.. Goyer convinced them to back off.. but the character is 'off-limits' in the comics... oh, well...

yeah i'm not too worried about too many cast members, at least their getting talented people. plus, not every important character needs to have thirty minutes of screen time thrown at them.
