The Official "Wolverine at Comic-Con" Thread

Yeah but even so i think they should have given Wein a cameo too.
As much as I am grateful to Wein for creating Wolverine, they shouldn't have as far as I'm concerned. The character that Wein and Romita created has very little to do with the character that Hugh Jackman is portraying. Wein's Wolverine was around 19 years old and his claws were not part of his body but an attachment to his gloves. Wein only wrote about four comics with Wolverine. The coolest thing he did with Wolverine was make him a short Candian dude. He did write a cool Wolverine in the 90s X-Men animated series though.

Also, if any creator 'deserves' a cameo, it's either Chris Claremont or John Byrne for the work they done with the character in the 80s. Although I don't think Byrne would want a cameo.

EXCLUSIVE: Hugh Jackman Talks New Mutants In ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’
Published by Josh Horowitz on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 2:10 pm.

When we chatted up Hugh Jackman the other day at Comic-Con he was clearly in good spirits. Walking off a stage where 6,000+ just went bananas for you will do that I guess. He said he was game for an “Avengers” cameo but the superpowered folk he really had something to say about were Deadpool and Gambit, two mutants making their big screen debuts in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” Jackman had a lot to say. Check it out below or read about it after the jump.

Jackman on Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool: “We were so thrilled to get Ryan. He’s the greatest guy. Incredibly funny. He plays Deadpool, the merc with a mouth. Not an easy guy to play. He’s always jabbering. He’s always going. Physically he’s in unbelievable shape and yet he’s also got that comedic ability. There are only a handful of actors that can do that.”

Jackman on Taylor Kitsch as Gambit: “I can say it. He’s sexy, right? He’s a little bit like a junior Wolverine in a way. He’s a little bit of a wise guy. He’s an outsider. He’s got some issues himself. He’s mischievous. He’s cheeky. He’s a bit of a badass. We have a really great fight sequence. Physically that guy is an animal. He was chucking himself around on the concrete. He has that passion that I remember having when I first did Wolverine. There was no way a stunt double was doing anything for him.”

WOLVERINE

In the big surprise of the day, Hugh Jackman arrived to a screaming harem of women in order to preview the new Wolverine movie due out 5/1/09. Wolverine's creator, Len Wein, was in the audience to which he gave him major props and went out to personally shake his hand. Jackman thanked the fans for making comic book movies viable and the current rage. So he did a good job of sucking up. He also said that Wolverine had just finished principal production, and he brought a bunch of footage to show that he put together that's still a little rough. So here's what we have:

-We see Wolverine and a younger Sabretooth or Creed (now played by Liev Schreiber instead of Tyler Mane). It looks like they were insubordinate soldiers in the military, and they were court martialed in a firing range, but due to their healing factors they could not be killed. Wolverine when asked about his failed execution says, "It tickled".

-A younger Stryker brings in Sabes and Wolverine into the fold, and creates a team consisting of Wolverine, Sabes, and what looked like Deadpool, Blob, and even Gambit. So there were quite a few action shots of Gambit in the preview which the fangirls in the crowd were very excited about.

-We see Wolverine going through the adamantium bonding process, as well as the following berserker rage and escape, and a growing rift between himself and the sadistic Sabretooth. We also get a brief flash of the young James Howlett popping his bone claws for the first time.

-The trailer seemed to have quite a few slow motion action shots that rotate around like in the Matrix. One in particular between Wolverine and Sabretooth. There's also what appears to be a big action set piece in which Wolverine on his motorcyle has a big fight with an armored car and chopper, which looked pretty sick.

-There's also some Wolverine/Silver Fox action. And Wolverine going after Sabretooth. Sabretooth asks Wolverine something to the effect of what are you going to do, since you can't kill me. Wolverine says, "I'm going to cut your head off and go from there," or something like that.

Well the movie looks good. Some intense, cool looking action and a ton of Marvel mainstay characters. This is an origin movie for Wolverine as well a prequel to the X-men films. However, I hope the movie isn't bogged down by having so many characters, and it can't get rushed like X-men 3 if this is the case. The other problem is, I honestly miss Brian Cox as Stryker and Tyler Mane as Sabretooth. Just feels like they should've kept those actors. Also . . . I would kind of rather see another X-men movie, with Singer back in the fold. But Wolverine still looks like it will be pretty cool, and hopefully better than X3.

AWESOME.

Gambit looked amazing!!! finally the footage is online!

omg i dont even feel worthy of having witnessed that...Hugh Jackman looks even more like Wolverine in the footage than he's ever looked...I loved the last line "im going to cut your goddamn head off"...Wolverine seems mean as hell in this movie...that whole final scene in the trailer was just awesome...Especially Sabertooth's sadistic smile.

Wolverine was always my favorite X-man... but to be honest I wasn't expecting much.

The only good thing this movie had was Hugh Jackman...

well yet again I was proven wrong lol :woot:

That trailer was fantastic and it looks like the movie will be quite good!

Another Youtube version.

just saw that over on digg.com. hard to really judge cuz of the squealing fanboys and shaky cam, but it looks pretty sweet... the only exception would be deadpool looking totally underwhelming and plain. gambit on the other hand looks pretty badass. this movie is gonna rock.

Finally, we have Gambit (out of place or not) but where are the black and red eyes?

^I suppose they're not done with the post-production of those shots yet...

footage was awesome! I guess we're going to finally have to accept Gambit in any way shape or form we can have him, even if it is tied into Wolverine's origin in the movie-verse.

This has officially booted Terminator as my most anticipated movie of 2009. Deadpool in costume would make me wanna see it opening day. :D

HOLY :wow: SH&% ON A STICK THIS TRAILER ROCKS!!!!! :wolverine:wolverine

i just hope they show deadpools costume and Gambits red and black eyes....FINALLY GAMBIT!!!!

but how does Gambit tie into the Wolverine story though? I know he might tie into the Storm story but Wolverine??? anyone???

Holy cow, that trailer looks great! I had some serious reservations about this thing, but it looks like it'll be a fun ride at the very least - and honestly, when it comes to Wolverine, I'm fine with that
