The Official Young Avengers/Runaways Thread

No they don't. They live in an shiftship that resides in Earth's orbit. And either way, the fact that The Avengers are out in the open shows that they're not afraid of people atacking them. And when they have been atacked, they've fought it off. When you've got the stones to put yourself in the open like that and survive, people are going to think twice about atacking you.

Oh yeah, they just visited the moon.

People apparently don't think twice about attacking the Avengers, though. I think the JLA Watchtower has probably come under attack less often than Avengers Mansion has. The only times I recall people attacking the JLA at home are Prometheus when he scammed his way in as Retro, Talia, at Ra's command in Tower of Babel, and Asmodel in JLA: Paradise Lost. The Watchtower wasn't outright destroyed, either. By contrast, the Avengers' mansion has been destroyed and rebuilt a couple of times, and the JSA brownstone is gonna be destroyed soon. The guys out in public on Earth don't seem to be faring as well.

Think of it like this:

The Avengers get atacked by Zemo and his gang. Eventually, they fight them off. They rebuild. ZYou think anyone else is going to make the atempt. It's the same with the White House. No one ever atacks the White House. Not because they don't have the opourtunity. But because they know that when they try, they're going to get their asses whupped by the Secret Service.

And yet the Avengers have been attacked at home multiple times since "Under Siege." I don't really see your argument here. Having a headquarters out in the open could conceivably act as a deterrent, but the comics don't seem to back that idea up in this case. The Avengers' having a base in the open just seems to encourage villains to try and kill them at home. By comparison, the Watchtower has remained in pretty good shape. It's only been rebuilt once, as far as I recall.

If you want to bring other famous HQs into the mix, don't even get me started on the X-Men's Westchester mansion. That thing's been destroyed and rebuilt so many times that I doubt even Xavier cares anymore.

I guess. I still like it out in the open better. Shows that the group's got some serious stones.

Or that they can't afford to travel back and forth from the moon so much. ;)

Honestly, though, I was hoping Disassembled would lead to a new base that's actually a new concept for the Avengers. Instead, it's literally the exact same setup as the mansion, only it's in a skyscraper that Tony owns instead of a mansion that Tony owns.

COUGH! Anyway, they need a Thanksgiving issue with the New Avengers and have the Young Avengers sit in the kiddie table babysitting Jessica's kid.

They should have a Thanksgiving issue where the Young Avengers kick the New Avengers' asses again. Or not a Thanksgiving issue. Any issue would be fine for it, really. :)

And, it needs to be written by Peter David and drawn by Todd Nauk.

Lol, sad thing is they probably could kick the New Avengers asses. I dotn even count the Sentry at this point.

I refuse to count the Sentry until he actually participates in something other than his introductory arc to the New Avengers. Has he even appeared in the book since then?

Anyway, without the Sentry the Young Avengers've totally got it in the bag. I'd so love to see Tommy make Wolverine's skin explode. :D

Probably, but he doesnt do anything. Its like whats the point of having him on the team. Either way bendis doesnt have more than 4 New Avengers at once for some reason.

He probably doesn't feel comfortable handling more than that many at once. Team dynamics are tough. Of course, if he can't handle more than 4 characters at once, he wouldn't be my first choice for a team book, but hey, money talks.

Sentry is amung the New Avengers who are in the middle of the Kree/Skrull stuff in YOUNG AVENGERS #11.

However, he's basically only been there more often than Ronin. The core New Avengers have been amazingly simular to the roster of SECRET WAR: Cap, Iron Man, Cage, Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, and Wolverine.

The YA and the Runaways meeting should be interesting because both have vital, interesting outlooks. The YA want to follow in some of the adult hero's footsteps (in their own way, of course). The Runaways want nothing to do with adults, because adults basically create all of their problems (which is basically true; sort of like Darkhawk alluded -- old people make war, but the young are the ones who fight it). Should provide for an interesting meeting. And wouldn't it be interesting if, unlike adult heroes, they could meet without an obligatory slugfest? It won't happen, though, and maybe for good reason.

I mean, you can't have 4 issues of people talking. That never happens. I've never seen some writer get away with that.

I love it when Dread is sarcastic.

While I wouldn't want them to fight physically, I'd love to see them argue over their respective philosophies.

I could totally see Gert Pissing off Stature while making fun of they're silly costumes.

Stature: "This costume is a homage to my dad! Are you calling my dad stupid?!?"

Gert: "Well....he was Ant Man "

Stature: "Why you fat b***h!!!"

Good thing Winick's not writing it. You know Billy, Teddy, and Karolina would be standing around talking about how hard it is to be a gay superhero in a straight world for like every issue.

who else would clash?

I can see such classic moments as Vic being a complete, drooling fanboy, Chase making a gangsta comment to Patriot and getting a general "You're not black" stare, and Nico completely owning Kate in a battle of logic. I can also see Tommy being attracted to Nico. (I approve. Those babies would be amazing. However, the only place in the world today where teen pregnancies aren't frowned upon is Mexico. :))

Here's an interesting topic:

Young Avengers vs. Runaways-

Whose side are you on?

I really don't want to see a fight. Arguements, perhaps, but no actual fisticuffs.
