I want him gone. I see people suggesting that they keep him on board for the first one but keep the sequel open. At this rate, I'm not so sure we get to the sequel. And even then, why continue giving him opportunities to drive these characters further into the ground? Suppose [blackout]Justice League ends with Lois dying, Superman going bad, and Batman's vision becoming a reality? Who the hell is going to want to jump in and clean up that mess?[/blackout]

But reality is that he's not going anywhere. If this movie tanks at the box office, I'm thinking we lose more than Snyder. The entire future of the DCU could effectively go up in smoke.

Thats true! There were no establishing shots of Gotham City. We never got a real look and feel for Gotham.

Why is everyone being so damned negative about this film? We got a kick ass take on Batman and Superman.... wha? Did we ever think this would happen? Just because its not a crystalized perfect version of all things that we wanted doesn't make it a turd... I've been seeing people all day... over-reacting. It's a movie... it's entertainment. If you really hated it, I don't think you have any business hanging out on a comic book forum. There have been so many different takes on both characters over the years, what's wrong with one more.

Establishing shots aren't for grown ups.

You're just not intelligent enough to tell when the movie is in Gotham and when it's in Metropolis.

I'd argue if you're willing to accept fundamental changes to the character blindly, it is you who should not be here.

But I wouldn't be so rude as to do that, because everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Skewed poll much. No option for him to stay where he isn't blamed? Kinda biased and obvious that any option except one, lays blame to him.

well he is in quite the unfavorable position at the moment

I actually think WW could strangely be the saving grace and steer the franchise back on track, but given that film is already being done as we speak there's little that can be done about it now. WB went all in with this hand. Yeah, this thing could derail before it's even left the station.

I completely agree.

Can you now argue with real points instead of strawmen?

I haven't seen the film yet, so I don't think my opinion holds that much weight at the moment, but I think the fact that we're even having this conversation is telling.

I think I may be in the camp of giving Snyder a rest....but I REALLY want his visual aesthetic to remain for the DCEU. The costume designs, the cinematography, if there's a way to keep that in tact but have another driver in the front seat I would take that option.

Man, this film really was made for DC fans only, it's just assumed you know where Gotham is and what it looks like. Such a basic thing completely overlooked. The more these type of issues come up the more I'm disliking this movie.

With the negative people being the most vocal, no wonder. It's like anything in life, negativity seems to always somehow have more drive than something positive. Nevermind me, I'll show myself the door. :woot:

Agreed.

He shouldn't even have done Man of Steel. I still don't understand why he was chosen.

Bring an actual talent who understands what must be done. Warner/DC is lost on their hurry.

I realized the lack of establishing shots really is what makes all the editing so jarring. The film doesn't even establish Gotham and Metropolis being sister cities like Snyder intended them on being. (Besides the shot across the bay in the end and a line from Lex) Wasn't there supposed to be some dichotomy between the two cities? Gotham being crime-ridden and Metropolis being the cleaner city? Stuff like that could've helped in establishing Batman's motivations a bit more. Could've also maybe contrasted Wayne Enterprises and Lexcorp or whatever and see how they respectively help Metropolis and Gotham. (But what Lexcorp does is hardly established besides the illegal things it does!)

We're just being dragged along as Snyder throws in Metropolis, Gotham, dream, flashback etc. without establishing where we are, which might be why people had a hard time following certain things and feeling like there wasn't a thread that tied this film together in the beginning.

The reason for the lack of establishing shots is because establishing shots are too formulaic. If you want establishing shots, go watch a Marvel movie. This film takes bold risks, like having no establishing shots. Snyder is a genius who will be understood in the future.

With all due respect, how is it formulaic? Seeing a cool looking establishing shot of Gotham City, with Larry Fong's cinematography, at night, raining-- would've been AWESOME. Not only that it would've established that this is a different, more comic book accurate Gotham than the Nolan movies. Snyder's Gotham.

Cause nobody wanted to do it...

He's being sarcastic. He agrees with you about establishing shots.

Important question I'm sure a few people at WB have discussed. Considering so many directors passed when Nolan asked them to direct MOS because they just didn't want the job, is anyone viable worth pursuing now that the brand hs taking this kind of turn?

I'll do the concept art.

Could you also do a portrait of Snyder as Simple Jack cough Zack from Tropic Thunder, it would be great art therapy. :oldrazz:

Maybe they can look for unknown TV directors who love the characters. Like the Russo Bros.
