I want Edgar Wright. Envision a World's Finest movie helmed by Wright.

3 years, $250 Million, and thousands of fans' emotions/forum entries later, here we are. My wife and I will be seeing it tonight. This better be good. We've all earned it.

I have a visceral feeling that this WILL be good for us fans, but not the movie the GA is expecting. I'm waiting to see lines in front of the theater tonight, and no place to park in the theater's parking lot.

I understand the dynamic between producing a product and its marketability to wide masses with different backgrounds. Therefore if the movie is a product fans enjoy but not the GA, I would not be surprised if WB sacks Snyder.

I'm still in some sort of disbelief at the last few days. Watching the trailers I thought we had a masterpiece on our hands. The depression that hit me when the initial reviews first came out was overwhelming and I had to try and hide it because I was depressed over reviews of a freaking movie lol. Now I'm almost at a point of laughing at the negativity, like I can't believe it. How did this happen? I'm seeing the movie in a couple hours and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love it just because I have loved all Snyder's work (except sucker punch). But dam, all this wait since it was announced its so deflating reading these reviews.

I like how Terrio's got off scot-free thus far. The writing's got a lot of criticism by a whole lot of people but fans are pretty content with pointing the fingers at Snyder and choosing to forget about Terrio's mere existence. :funny:

Gotta feel for Zack on this one. Whatever the perception is on the film, lack of passion could never be used as a critique. This is an ambitious movie which truly has reverence for its characters.

He’s going to be inviting a lot of flack for the comment though. Once again he focuses on “aesthetic”, when that was hardly used as a negative for the film.

How could u vote without watching it 1st???
u r a sheep following the herd. Words can really kill a good man... sad... pure sad...

The fact of the matter is that in a lot of eyes, Snyder has produced a substandard movie. He's had two chances, and he's managed to spend Warner's 600mil+ dollars on two critical flops. That CANNOT happen if Warner stands to make money.

They need the critical audience behind the movie so that audiences can flock to it. Snyder is doing more harm to the DC brand than good.

They should have gone with Nolan.

Except Nolan doesn't want to tie up so many years of his life on comic book movies. He has other interests. Just like how Batman was an interest to him after doing Memento, Insomnia, etc.

The man gave us a great series containing three great films. He's done his part.

Ironic and fitting in a way because it was Goyer who was made a scapegoat for MOS.

Indeed! There seems to have been so much irony inherent in the making and aftermath of this film. :loco: It's damn crazy, really.

Yeah it's a shame Snyder is the scapegoat.

You're right. Three back to back to back critical failures can't possibly the director's fault.

Buck stops with the director. Plus I'm sure he and his producer wife had plenty of input on the script that Terrio & Goyer wrote. It is not as though Zack showed up for Day 1 of shooting without a clue in the world what was happening with the script.

Directors collaborate a lot with the writers and in some cases (like Burton with Batman Returns), the writer just straight up does what the director says to do. So then you have a situation where the director's name is not on the script but it's pretty much 100% his movie.

Huh? No one's saying it's not his fault, merely that Terrio's also had a pretty sizable hand in this venture. And yet people have conveniently forgotten about him.

I haven't. i am still laughing that because he won an oscar for a period thriller, people thought that he was gonna write a great superhero movie.

For me, judging by my tastes, Snyder's the #1 man for this job. If people don't get it, they don't get it. If it doesn't click with a lot of people, it doesn't click with them. It clicks with me. Watchmen and Man of Steel are two of my favorite movies ever. If that objectively means I have bad taste, then I have bad taste. I'll wear "Bad Taste in Movies" on my sleeve if I have to.

I want Nolan as far from DC properties as Zack Snyder, honestly. I like Nolan, but enough is enough. Get someone who likes these characters.

BIB - this is baseless conjecture, if you're implying what I think you are.

And it's true to say the buck stops with the director, but speaking as fans, we all know Snyder wouldn't know a good script if it bit him on the ass (also very much like Burton, funnily enough). Yeah it's ultimately on him for hiring Terrio, but that's not to say that Terrio should be alleviated of any blame whatsoever imo. I just think it's funny to remember back to "In Terrio we trust" and then look at the reviews. They slaughtered the writing.

Sucker Punch and Watchmen director's cut movies we're great, I have a feeling the Ultimate cut of BvS will be better, but sadly it still will have those marketing campaigns for JL + other movies lol.

Implying what? I love Batman Returns. Burton's stamp is all over that movie, not just visually but from a characterization standpoint. You have these very lonely outsider people at the center of the story. Burton himself had that same type of thing in his own life. Daniel Waters admitted in the DVD interviews that he pretty much did what Burton told him to do with the script.
