It's funny. I am much less excited this time around, I am still geeked up, it just doesn't feel the same. I think it is because last time around we didn't have a Superman flick in so long. It's just different this time. Once I see Cavill in the suit though, my brain might overload.
I know. I'm so excited..I can't wait to see who the rest of the cast is, who the the villains are, the suit, and an idea of the kinda action we're gonna get, hopefully world wide battles......good times.

I can honestly say I am way more excited with snyder at this point, than I was with singer at the same point.

I'm split between both sides. On one hand, if I'm being fair the total sum of news I've heard from both productions at the same point has me more excited for Snyder's take. On the other, there was nothing quite like being witness to the formation of Superman's big return to cinema in the 21st century. My imagination really ran wild at that point, because Supes really is the big daddy of them all and done right he would easily snatch back the throne that was once his.

As we all know, said comeback was the equivalent of a silent fart that everyone in the elevator refuses to acknowledge. So in that regard "the return: redux" has a dampened effect due to the failure of the first attempt. But I can't disregard how everything just sounds spectacular thus far. It's unfortunate because the hype for this production could easily be tenfold of what it is now, if Singer/SR had never happened.

I was never truely excited when Singer was picked because I suspected that he was the wrong man for the job. I had moments of excitement but after the trailer I no longer wanted to see the film in theaters. (did end up seeing it in dollar theaters though because I couldn't resist and despite my b**ching I'll probably end up seeing Thor)

I'm not like mega excited for this one either but thats because we just had a (disappointing IMHO) movie and the new one is only being made because of legal matters and there has already been way too many Superhero comicbook movies. I'm more exicted for this one than I was Returns though, if I wasn't excited I wouldn't be on these fourms so much. I'll eco Show's feelings that I'll probably get really excited when I see Cavill in costume.

I'd like someone to ask him if Cavill's costume design has actually been finalized.

I wasn't terribly excited during SR's production because I didn't like that it wasn't a reboot like Batman Begins. I also didn't love some of the pics of the suit and stuff, thus I never really followed it's production. But once I saw the trailer I was on board. I know it's not a popular opinion but I loved the movie, still do.

I think I will love Snyder's Superman, too, and hope it really brings Superman back into the mainstream in a big way. We really need a Superman series of films, dammitt. I'm quite confident in the production with everything I have read so far, especially thanks to the great casting of Henry Cavill.

I never thought Superman Returns was a terrible movie, or even a bad one. It was okay. It had it's problems, but I think the best way to describe SR was "underwhelming".

I never trusted what Singer was trying to do. And then I loved SR.

Now I trust Singer merely for the visuals. I hope I'm wrong again.

People can love SR?

I had no idea...

*Tries to resist Lost joke. Tries to resist Lost Joke*

It's possible.

*whew*

See, I am getting better.

:oldrazz:

You're like an alchy. You'll go back to the sauce eventually.

There are plenty of very well written and smart posters who love Superman Returns. It's just a difference of opinion. As much as I claim to hate the film I really don't think that it's the "worst film ever!" It's one of those films that I hate more than I should because I see it as a missed opportunity.

so does this pretty much confirm in a sense that this film is more or less an Origin film for Superman?

Other's were overwhelmed. You're underwhelmed. Why isn't anyone ever just whelmed? :word:

I never hated SR, still dont, but its a film I saw one time in the theater and never cared to see it there again..No superhero film, especially a Superman film, should cause that kinda reaction.
If I walk out of Snyders Superman film and instantly want to see it again, then he has succeeded in my book.

I never saw Superman Returns in theaters only once it got to Starz and thought it was a pretty decent closing to the Donner series.

But as I've said several times before it wasn't the movie that Superman needed at the time let alone the movie to establish a new trilogy. Thats partly the reason I was never really excited for it but still enjoyed it.

Whereas with Man of Steel I'm incredibly excited due to the director/producer and the fact they are taking a much fresher approach. Oh and Cavill who for me seems more like Superman than Routh ever did no offense to him as I actually like him as an actor.

I'm glad "Superman" isn't in the title.

Feels more like a reboot disconnected from the previous films this way.

I think i'll actually give a standing ovation when I see Supes punch the stupid out of the villain.

I just really cant see people loving or hating SR. It was just so ****ing dull, I cant see anyone being anything but ambivalent toward it and hoping for something much, much better.

I agree with you but some people do love it and some people do hate it so..."shrugs:

To me it is more of dull movie that I feel ambivalent towards. I just hate that it is as dull as it is...I hope that makes sense.

I've moved on though because I'm getting something different now.

We are really having an arguement from 5 years ago so it should stop soon.

Haha I think a lot of people will actually cheer. Did even punch anyone in SR?

Not a single time. Maybe he punched a door at some point and thats just a maybe.

He was punched and got his ass handed to him by some punks when they had Kryptonite. That part was really lame. So, so lame. :(
