Maybe in a decade from now they'll look closer in age; but right now Cavill looks like a young sidekick next to Bale.

Similiar to O'Donnell in the older Bat films.

Well, Superman should always look younger than Batman, regardless of actual age.

They're always drawn close in age.

But I think Bale and Routh looked good together at the MTV awards.

Cavill's kinda pushing it though.


He kinda reminds me of a square-jawed Hayden Christensen with Hugh Grant's voice. Maybe that's part of the reason I don't see him as one of the top candidates.

Yeah co's ya know, that whole "Square Jaw" thing simply isn't superman . So he has a british accent, kinda like Bale, yet you ppl see him as batman ok now don't you? .

Well, I meant it more in the TDKR sense, where Bats is and old 55'er and Superman looks like he's in his late 30's.

i don't think it should be. the way i always saw it, those two are drawn pretty as mirror images of each other, size, height, build, and age. there are slight differences, but overall, i see them drawn as equal.

the only time they look different is when batman is really really old, and they kept clark young, but we've seen an older superman also so it's really a matter of who draws the characters.

Exactly....I have said the samething. He is 25 now and the film won't be coming out until 2011 or 2012 anyway.

So Cavill will be around 27 or 28 by the time filming would start on the reboot Supes film, and he would be the perfect age by then.

Everyone needs a good rant once in awhile. And I agree. I love Bale, BB, and TDK, but we need to remain concerned with Superman here. Like I said above, it is ok to cast someone as known as Bale was before Begins, but we cannot cast Superman based on Bale.


The only thing that cannot happen is casting someone from Nolan's Bat universe in the Superman reboot. Which is irritating because for years, my choice for Jor-El or Braniac was Liam Neeson. Thank you Viggo for turning down the role of Ducard.

cool...i liked their depiction of superman (reminded a lot of routh actually, especailly the kent).

but i still like the idea of how they are pretty much exactly the same. that's how batman was created, and i like them being kinda polar opposites. but nothing wrong with liking another author's take.

i agree. I don't get this fascination with getting an unknown. that whole typecasting if anything backfires on the unknown, whereas a known actor will not be forever assoc. with the character.

I can understand WB's interest in unknowns for the 200 mil films; lower paychecks.

All those greedy bastards see is the green and they only payed Routh one million for Superman Returns.

The unknowns in the JL mortal cast were probably equally as low.

RDJ is not unknown in a 185 mil movie. Ed norton in 150. bale in 150. spacey in SR. no reason to get an unknown just for the role of superman.

i wouldnt go that far to say no reason for unknown. I dont see a reason to limit yourself to either side really. Its all about who will get the job done right.

Well, Man of Tomorrow (who I'm sure is a fine fellow and I respect his opinion) set me off. I'm tired of some people coming in these forums and talking about how Superman should conform to Batman. I liked Batman Begins and loved TDK but hell no! Supes is his own character. Love the movie or not we are, IMHO, in this situation because Superman was made to conform to an old interpretation because the director was unwilling to put his stamp on it and give us something truely new...something that was new and good.

As far as Spacey goes, its beyond likely Lex will be cast with an established actor.

Supes is always cast with unknowns with the supporting cast as established actors.

Actually, the only time WB approved an established actor for Superman was Nicolas Cage :|

But thankfully they've learned a few things since then... I hope

Bale wasn't a well known actor prior to BB. More like a lesser known, like Cavill is right now.

I like Trucco. But, Trucco will never get the job. He is 38. And the studios are going to want a franchise. And if it goes three sequels. He will be in his mid 40's and the studio is not going to want a 40 something looking Superman.

he looks at least 10 years younger, especially on One Tree Hill,

if its going to be a 3 picture story, Trucco would be fine.
but it looks like cavill is the top bet.

Look at Bale. He obviously feels insulted that he is in a picutre with crap actors.

Being fair though, Cavill does somewhat look like Hayden. Hayden if he were a god darn man. His head and overall body are bigger, and his face is more defined.
