the only thing im really worried about with this movie...

the way i see it, regarding the average joes, there will be fans of the movie, the ones who think it's "super badass and awesome", and those that truly understand what the movie is about and what it means. And when that can be differentiated, it'll make a ton of a difference.

no, i have no problem with people, who after seeing the movie go out and read the comic and become fans, on the contrary i think that thats awsome. What i meant are like the people who are going to walk out of the theater and start saying like that they are huge watchmen fans, without ever reading the books, or that they've always been watchmen fans. For instance, my friend told me the other day that he was a HUGE batman fan after i took him to see the dark knight. But he's never read a batman comic in his life, and knows nothing about it outside of the movies. ie: i asked him to name three batman characters who havent been in the movies and he couldn't do it.

Who cares?

Fair weather people exist. Such is life.

Oh no... you can't be a fan of the movies unless you're a fan of the comics!

see now what if sombodys just illiterate? technically the movie would be their only way of understanding whats going on in a comic book/grapghic novel.
dont tell me they arent out there, you'd be surprised with how many people cant read

O NOES!

My Starbucks is inside a Chapters, and I've actually seen TONS of people buying the Watchmen TPB. Beforehand, I'm sure they didn't sell any ever. So it's totally going to help the Watchmen as a whole. The only time this kind of stuff hurts is when something goes mainstream and the makers try to change and tweak it to suit it's new fans. That shouldn't be a problem for Watchmen, obviously!

And for the record, I am totally on the 'more the merrier' bandwagon. I'd rather have more people to talk comics and stuff with than less. I remember when Internet wasn't cool. AND NOW WHO'S LAUGHING!? haha.

Agreed for the more the merrier
tho dont be surprised if any Watchmen Product goes up in price in the near future

I saw three people on the train today reading Watchmen. :woot:

The one I talked to though was saying "Ohh this book is soooo predictable it's obvious Rorschach killed him since he's like messed up in the dead he doesn't remember. I shouldn't een bother finishing it."

People like that piss me off.

is that after it comes out, there's going to be all these poser 'watchmen fans' and everyones going to be all like "oh ya, watchmen kicks ass". Its going to get completely commercialized. It's just like now everyone is an iron man fan, and everyones a batman fan. But even with those, people who don't read comics knew who those characters were. But watchmen has always completely belonged to the hardcore comic fans (i was going to call us something else, but i don't want to piss people off). Is anybody else worried about this?
Watchmen was a graphic novel published and produced by one of the largest comic book companies on the planet not some independent creation, its was commercialized the moment it came off a DC press so I don't understand the "indie" sentiment here. This isn't Todd MacFarlane selling out in 97 all over again, this is DC/ Warner Bros bringing an already commercialized product to an even wider audience. I would think a true fan would find great joy in others embracing Watchmen.

maybe its just coming off as indie because Moores like -noo way im getting involved in association with the movie..

now thats what I am afraid of
knowing me tho I would have started the maniacal laughter and said "you earthlings amuse me" or something like that
just to weird them out

I would've said "That's not even close. Keep reading." Then I would've laughed a little.

I guess this kid that found it so predictable was also the kid that played clue by himself when he was younger? -had all the answers before the investigation

I would've punched the person, flipped them off, then farted on his Big Mac, but not necessarily in that order. Sorry, I forgot my meds this morning.

>.> uh ok?

and oh great since the movies going to keep the rape in it, I just hope nobody tries to be dumb and reinact that *sigh*
-someones definitely getting keys in the face if they use the watchmen as excuse to be a jerk

Um, I think the movie IS being made to attract new fans...And please the old ones who already own 40 copies of the book.

I just read Watchmen for the first time early last year, BTW. I always wanted to read it, but never actually got around to doing it. The movie announcement compelled me to get the book. How's that? I'm teh poserzzss!!11

I think its more of when people watch it, and only the movie, you got your butt in gear to read it before watching, that takes some effort... more or less its the people that are going to think they know everything about the watchmen because they have watched (and only watched) the movie. If people who watch it arent going to bother at least reading it and then preach how epicly leet they are in knowledge of the watchmen then yes they are the posers (and it will happen)
If the movie inspires people to read it then i dont think thats posing either, its like when you hear about something in a game of telephone, makes you wonder and ask what really was the original.
If they dont bother to ask the questions and look for themselves and then annoy the people that HAVE read it, then they are posers

Sorry, I'm just really passionate and narrow minded about Watchmen. Saying I would've farted on his Big Mac was wrong, I take it back:grin:

lol no problem. it was just random.... even for my standards 0,o
*note to self: Bob wants reasons to fart on big macs, never go to mcdonalds with Bob*:woot:

I bet you'll always wanted to say that

Yes, I had been searching for the opportunity to say I would fart on someones Big Mac. Now I feel vindicated.

as i realize i just spelled you've wrong

Im so glad that such passion and narrow mindedness towards things gives you gas.... any of us would love to have that awesome super power

does this mean that Le Pétomane was actually a super hero?

:funny: I believe it does.

Tho from the looks of it and thank god, Rorschach's disguise changes *phew*

I would have felt rage if it remained the same pattern.
Thank god that Michael Bay wasnt involved -that ruined transformers for me
