I finished watching both of the first two just now and really liked them both. I think I liked the original a bit more but the sequel was also really good, in my opinion. They both had a lot of genuinely eerie moments and a few parts even creeped me out and I jumped a couple of times, which rarely happens to me watching any movie. I'm already impatient to see the third later, hope I'm not let down. As a long-time Horror fan of all of these long-running series, I'm happy to add Paranormal Activity to the long list of series I follow.

Not sure I liked the inclusion of the witches and cults. I think it's overplotting and it decreases some of that feeling of it could happen to anyone.

I don't like that it can be controlled either or that cults are involved.

it less scary when they're showing it's only happening to specific people for a very specific reason

I highly disagree. For starters, ghosts/demons/evil spirits don't randomly attack people. There's ALWAYS a reason. Secondly, it's the only way to keep the movies connected without it being silly. If the attacks were random, it would be ridiculous that the same family is being victimized. OR they would have been forced to use new families with every installment which would result in this franchise being just like all the other ones. What makes the "Paranormal" series standout is that it's one-long story. As for things being relatable or not, I mean, do we REALLY know what our grandparents do in their spare time?

I don't think the demon caused the earthquake, that seemed like a random occurrence.

Damn, I want to check this out. The spoilers are killing me, can't believe I'm showing restraint.

I might have to sneak out this weekend to see it. My wife will absolutely not go to this with me.

I just thought the first was terrifying because it felt like it could happen to anyone. A young couple in a nice new home. The scares felt like they came the easiest too. I think the scariest aspect of the new one was the fan camera. That panning shot it would do taking us out of the room and into the next whether we liked it or not was utterly brilliant.

So were Katie and her sister raised by satanists? If so why do they remember none of this

I loved the fan camera, whenever it came on you could hear people in the theater saying things like "Oh, **** me..." It was great.

I have tickets for tonight. Can't wait!

All the reactions from the midnight showings have me pumped for tonight! Also if you could please use spoiler tags for spoilers at least until the weekend is over. Let's give everyone a chance to see it for themselves first!

I atleast agree with the second part, that's why I said I can't really blame them because I don't think they could continue it while keeping the mystery behind why it happened that the first one had...I still think the first is probably the scariest because of that ominous feel that it could've targeted anyone and we have no idea why though.

I agree that's pretty necessary, but it also makes the sequels less effective at standing on their own.

I haven't seen the third yet, but between the first two, I think the first was probably the scariest overall. NO idea what's going on, seemed very random and like it could happen to anyone.

The shots of the little kid in the crib in the second still creep me out the most, though. Every night we still watch our son on the video monitor and I still get a little weirded out on occasion.

I think it's a bit hard to demand because then everybody would have to deal with that fact that other countries are showing movies later. Internationally movies are released a month or longer after the USA release date. Will people keep on posting in spoiler tags after the movie has hit the last country it will be released in?

No, because we only care about America. USA! USA! USA!

:p ;)

I was referring to the U.S opening of the movie ( since I am in the U.S :)). I would say after Saturday there will be no need for spoiler tags. If you haven't seen the movie by then, entering this topic will be at your own risk.

I would say for at least the whole weekend for the spoiler tags.

I think that would be the worst part about being a mod for me. As a regular poster, I can avoid a thread that has spoilers, but you have to go in there and then you have to skim through the posts to check for shenanigans. Have you had movies spoiled because of that?

Saw this last night. I'm not one for horror films and they hardly do anything for me, but aw man was I scared.

The last 15-20 minutes are pretty tense. Fun. Great audience. Packed house.

A guy at my show yelled "I HATE THAT CAMERA!!!" :lmao:

Surprisingly, not that often.

When the twist at the end was revealed a guy was like:
**** YOU GRANDMA!!

Saw it last night at the midnight premiere.

My tagline for my viewing was "**** this ****." I swear I said that at least 20 times.

And the last 10 minutes or so...seriously? That whole sequence will haunt me for at least week along!

Katie bumping into the ghost and everything with the babysitter...those scenes screwed with me so much.

And the ending starting with the subtle grandma(or whoever the **** it was) in the background staring will haunt me for a damn long while. I won't be able to approach a dark room without thinking I'm going to see a bunch of creepy old women when I turn the light on. That wasn't fair, I wasn't prepared for such madness.

lol.

one guy in my theater yelled
she never did like that guy!

:funny:

Someone at my show yelled:

"I TOLD YOU TO GET A JOB!!"

Also, right before the finale started, when [BLACKOUT]they heard the cars outside, that same guy yelled "Oh my god, Toby drove off!"[/BLACKOUT]

These movies work best in a theater, with awesome speakers, and a full crowd. I do not recommend them at home on a 50'' inch TV. You're automatically losing some of the experience.
It's probably the only time where [BLACKOUT]African-American people screaming and laughing[/BLACKOUT] is something that enhances the experience for me.:o

so i am headed towards the movie theaters with my cousins and was just wondering if this is scarier then the first two movies?
