It was definitely the creepiest of the three. Much better than the second movie. Even the fakeout scares were great, and the oscillating fan camera was downright genius.

And the whole movie is worth it when the theater is full.

The scariest of the three by far.
The series just keeps getting better.

The definitely seemed to be setting up a fourth movie to[BLACKOUT] continue where Part 2 left off after Katie took the baby. [/BLACKOUT]

After the
kitchen scene with the mom
I wouldn't have been surprised to hear a voice(s) yell "Are you scared now,*****?"

When it looked like [BLACKOUT]Toby was climbing into the bed with Katie[/BLACKOUT], a guy shouted out

"There are laws against that, Toby!"

:wow:

And then when it kept going, [BLACKOUT]he yelled "Toby!!" like he was yelling at him for misbehaving.[/BLACKOUT]

Seriously, it was like being at a live version of MST3K. :lmao:

Apparently there were
more than one entity present-as the under the blanket entity seemed to small to be Toby-and may in fact be the entity that attacks Katie in PA1

Unless
Toby can change his appearance

Thoughts? tia

I definitely thought there [BLACKOUT]was more than one after this movie. [/BLACKOUT]

Especially at the end, when it appeared the grandmother was possessed the way Katie was at the end of PA1, but then Kristi called Toby to follow them upstairs. Sounds like Toby was someone else completely. :wow:

By the way, I was sitting next to a big guy who was hiding behind his jacket and screaming like a girl for most of the movie. :funny:

I don't think that the grandma was possessed, she seemed very much in control. Oh and when the cars started pulling up people yelled "Oh, ****, Toby can drive!" in my theater as well. :woot:

This is the one series where you have to see it with a crazy audience. Prim and proper won't cut it.

Yes seeing this with a sold out crowd is the best way to see these movies. Watching them at home sucks in comparison. My crowd was awesome and shouted out a lot of funny stuff.

I just got back from seeing this with some friends. I liked it and this is coming from someone who thought the first two were just so so. This one is defintely the creepiest out of the three. Even the fake scares get you, like the baby sitter coming up to the fan camera and saying BOO!

Katie and Kristi's mom and their stepdad were very likeable. The step dad wasn't a *****e like the other two guy leads. They kind of dabble into giving you more backstory but it still leaves you with some questions.

I am kinda disapointed that alot of the scenes shown in the trailers and TV spots weren't even in the movie. But I am sure in will be on the DVD/ Blu ray as deleted scenes. A good one that got cut was when the paranormal investigator came to the house and got his face smashed into the table by Tobby or whatever that was.

Overall, I would give the movie a solid 8 out of 10. I do feel as though paramount could squeeze out one last movie to wrap up the story. If your not a fan of the first two movies, this will not convert you into a full blown fan. But if you are a fan or somewhat liked the first two movies then you will like this one!

Saw this earlier. I enjoyed it but I think it's my least favorite of the series so far. It's still a good movie, but I feel it fell apart a bit by the end.

For some reason, I didn't really care for the implied explanation that the demon (or "Tobey" as he/it is called) is the result of the Grandmother having made a deal with him, which I thought was just a theory the daughter in the second movie had rather than being something that was an actual origin. IMO, the origin would've been more effective if the demon had been summoned by something the girls did, like the Bloody Mary game the trailer showed (which I was disappointed to see kinda wasn't in the movie; I thought Bloody Mary being a possible origin would've been cool). The whole witch/cult/demon deal explanation seems a little far-fetched to me.

But I still dug the movie overall. I'd probably give it maybe a 6 or 7/10. I like all three of them and would rank them in release order, pretty much. They have the honor of being among the very, very, very few films to ever genuinely scare me.

I assume tobi can change to whatever he so wishes, after all he is a demon. I base it on his mood, sometimes hes playful and screws around, other times hes pretty pissed and probably takes a more demonic like appearance. Like in part 1 when he sounded 7 feet tall with his loud stomping of his feet.

when he was walking around with the sheet, after all, she was the babysitter, not someone who was a direct threat to it. So maybe tobi was just copying her to freak her out and when she got close to his "personal" space, he scared her. Like how a cat would hiss at prey. also maybe made himself look smaller incase the babysitter turned around, she would just assume it was katie.

thats my view on it at least. which could be completely wrong lol :funny:

So for people who have seen the movie...

I haven't seen PA1 and PA2 since they were out in theaters. Did Katie or Kristie ever mention their mother being murdered and being raised by their grandmother? Because that's the only problem I had with PA3 connecting with PA1/PA2... wouldn't these girls remember their mother being killed under suspicious circumstances (and not to mention their mom's boyfriend... who they were both fond of)

The only contrivance I see for these PA films is how each one includes some goof-ball who wants to videotape ever waking moment of life... I find it far-fetched that each movie includes a crazy video-voyeur, but, hey, without it the films wouldn't exist... but still... kinda silly to me.

Maybe PA4 will be told from a traffic light camera's POV just to make it seem less unrealistic for me. haha. just kidding.

Especially since Katie was 12...you'd think these would be traumatic memories that would be difficult to forget. Were they raised by the satanist grandmother? if so nothing was unusual about their upbringing? She never tried to raise them in toby-worship?

pa3 addressed this by having Dennis find out about the cult and saying how they would brainwash the girls and made them completely lose all memory before a certain age. thats why in part 2,they have very vague memory of their childhood and only remember their house burning down.

Well Like the last Post said. The Girls lost their memory and hardly remembered what happened that night.

Wow...$26 million yesterday and they're looking at a $50 million weekend. :wow:

So I guess we'll all be back here next year discussing Paranormal Activity 4.

I almost didn't notice, but this is the first Halloween in a minute where we haven't had a Saw movie. I guess 3D really was the last one.

And the budget for this one is $5 million. Not bad at all

The first one was budgeted $15 grand and the 2nd one was budgeted $3 million.

Yea, I mean the ending to 3D pretty much closed the series.

With such a high opening, this is looking to be the new SAW franchise. We'll be seeing sequels until the money drops.

So how did the demon come into existence?! From that old lady cult?! Did they ask for riches or something? I wonder what house burnt down that Katie mentioned in PA1?

My only hope is that they didn't write themselves into a corner with [BLACKOUT]the cult.[/BLACKOUT] I almost feel like we should bring it back down a few notches in Part 4. Don't blow it.

I said this a few pages back but I don't think anyone read it lol.

This is where I think they'll go with the next film :

In the beginning of PA3 we're shown the box of VHS tapes. Well, one of the tapes is labeled "Katie........1992". If she's 10 years old in PA3 then she would be 14 in the "1992" tape.

Katie tells Dr. Fredrichs in PA1 that she remembers very little happening when she was a little girl but then some strange things started happening (again) when she was 14.

She'd be 14 in the "1992" tapes. I'm going to guess that that's where we'll see the next movie go and that's where we'll see our fire.
