I said this a few pages back but I don't think anyone read it lol.

This is where I think they'll go with the next film :

In the beginning of PA3 we're shown the box of VHS tapes. Well, one of the tapes is labeled "Katie........1992". If she's 10 years old in PA3 then she would be 14 in the "1992" tape.

Katie tells Dr. Fredrichs in PA1 that she remembers very little happening when she was a little girl but then some strange things started happening (again) when she was 14.

She'd be 14 in the "1992" tapes. I'm going to guess that that's where we'll see the next movie go and that's where we'll see our fire.

Yeah, that sounds pretty interesting. I wonder if they'll ever show what happened with Katie and Hunter.

I think we're more likely to see a fourth fim about what happened to Katie and Hunter. Thus movie seemed to be setting up that story a bit:

-The opening in Hunter's room.
-Dennis reading up on demons and the coven claiming they would give up a first-born son to the demon
-The grandmother pestering Julie about how she always wanted a big family when she said she didn't want any more kids

Seems like it was waiting for Hunter. I'm thinking that's where the story goes next. I don't think we'll see another prequel until they settle that open plot line.

So that coven gave up the first born son for riches? Correct?

I did see it at the screening paramount did at arclight and if I'm not mistaken...
Didn't Kristi promise something to Tobi when he had Katie trapped in that little room so that he'd let Katie out? I assume she's promising him her first born son... which would explain when asked who the lucky boy was she said "Tobi" when they were dressing her up. It also further explains Katie(possessed) eventually getting Hunter(Kristi's first born son) at the end of PA2.

The third was as bad as the other 2. I didn't like that this one tries to scare you more whereas the first one was a slower build to the scares which is what I prefer. Acting in the third one was lightyears ahead of 1 and 2 but that isn't saying anything at all. Bravo to the franchise for being able to make so much money. I've never seen whats good or whats so scary about the movies.

The thing about PA4 with Toby inside Katie with Hunter that bugs me is. Where do you get the found footage style element woven in? What does Toby want with Hunter?

Yeah, they should've had the house burn down at least. Unless they intend to do kickass's idea and have the house burn down in 1992 and kill off the grandmother and her coven. I just don't think this series has a whole lot of life left beyond 1 or 2 more installments. If they make it past 5 they're gonna have to drop the main family and Toby all together and start all over again and that'd pretty much be a remake.

The irony of your statement is that they've already managed to make 3 films and still haven't answered everything. Most movies run out of every possible angle they can to continue their story by the 3rd film. The PA films still have lots to explain and 1 or 2 more installments is quite a successful thing given this serie's premise.

Regarding my take...........

I don't think we'll see what happens with baby Hunter and Katie til the 5th movie. I really do think they'll continue the next one with the 1992 tape. It would make more sense because that way they're LEADING EVERYBODY UP to the grand reveal with Hunter and Katie. I don't think they're gonna want to show us what happened with them just yet because it's going to continue growing the anticipation and mystery surrounding those two.

And I'm guessing here but if and when we do see Hunter in the 5th film, he'll be older.

The thing about the idea with the 1992 tape idea is the tape's were stolen or hidden by someone. How do we as the viewer get to see that tape? Come to think of it how did we even see this tape?

That's a secret on to itself, funny cuz I asked the same question to everyone in the car while driving back. Perhaps they visit it in one of the upcoming films.. ends with a rosemary's baby vibe in a room full of satan worshippers and Katie arrives with Hunter? or they are already there. Beats me.. they really impressed me with what they did with this franchise, especially after the clone sequel that pa2 was.

I don't understand how people can say PA2 was a clone of PA1. It added and layed the ground work for the mythology and story of this franchise.

The pool cleaner, the dog, the toy train, the baby.......none of that was ever done in PA1. The only thing I can say was the same was Kristie getting dragged out the room but they do that in the 3rd film, too. Why isn't anyone complaining about PA3 doing that? If anything, the kitchen scene in PA3 was a clear homage to the exploding kitchen scene in PA2.

No one knew PA2 was going to be a prequel. Took me and everyone I know by complete and utter surprise. And then its ending became a sequel. How genius is that? Without the 2nd PA, there's no story.

I liked PA2 as well and thought it added to the series. I liked the idea that a whole family this time was being haunted, it upped the ante.

I really don't know how we're seeing this tape but I don't really think that matters anyway. At least, it's not something I care about. All I know is that the tape was made and now I'm watching it.

If we really wanted to nit pick, we could ask how in the hell did the 1988 tape record over the 2006 footage when - common sense dictates - 1988 was almost 30 years ago?

I love PA2 more so than the first film, and believe me, I like them all. But PA3 was my favourite and now with the new clues in PA3 I think it makes PA2 even better. Now when I think of Kristie's house being broken into I no longer suspect the ghost but the actual occult who did it to steal the tapes. That's such a well thought-out story detail and really makes me appreciate the writers of these films. It shows that they're thinking ahead.

PA2 is still the weak link in the series to me. Mostly because we see most of the events through Daniel's eyes and Daniel is a complete *****e wad.

I like all three of them but I think PA3 is my least favorite because as I said before, I feel it fell apart a bit by the end.

I preferred Tobey's origin to be something that didn't have to do with the Grandmother making a deal with him or being a Satanist, that seemed kinda out of left field to me even though it was suggested in PA2.

PA2 was more or less a copycat of the first one. It didn't add enough for me to actually feel something special about the series as far as growth. PA3 is unique to where the scares are as memorable as the original, not only that.. something you can set in the horror/suspense genre as far as memorable scares. Leaving the theater after the 1st one and this one I felt just as impressed and excited. When I left the theater after pa2 I felt satisfied as the first one, but nothing special thus disappointed.

You would have rather'd a Rumpelstiltskin-like story rather than satanic people calling/conjuring a demon spirit? fair enough but personally the end of the movie was frantic as hell for me, I dug the suspense.

The dad becomes a *****e as the film progesses, that I'll agree with. I thought he was fine in the first half of the movie. Micah was a *****e the whole time. I think Dennis in PA3 was the coolest, though. He was a very genuine, good guy.

I'm not saying the last third wasn't scary, it was, I just didn't care for the explanation.

I preferred the idea that the demon was conjured by accident by the girls when they played Bloody Mary (which was suggested in the previews) or something else they did occult/demon worship-related that led to Toby being in their lives. The demon-worshipping Grandma wasn't the worst idea but it came off a bit random to me to have it as the explanation for Toby's origin.

Honestly I like the idea of the 1992 tape more. Explain the coven more. Have the grandmother preparing the children. Then basically have Toby turn on the coven kill them and then take control of the situation himself leading into PA1 and PA2

Eh. Like you said it was set up in the second one. It makes more sense and is honestly more chilling than some silly childhood prank bringing him on.

I know it's mentioned in PA2 but it was more suggested and implied than anything. PA3 made it explicit Toby is the result of the Grandmother summoning him and cutting a deal with him.

I believe its much more than simply her grandmother "cutting a deal" for all we know the grandmother can just be a pawn in this cult/coven.
